Important lesson about friendship. All that and so much more on cbs this Morning Saturday, saturday, october 20, 2012. Welcome to the weekend. We begin with a countdown to the pivotal final debate between president obama and republican challenger mitt romney. Monday night in boca raton, florida. Cbs news political news correspondent jan crawford isnt far from there in daytona beach. Jan, good morning. Reporter well good morning. Romney was here last night for a big rally. Its expected to be his last major event going into monday nights debate and with the polls tightening many of those National Polls showing romney in the lead. The president on a campaign trail has really sharpened his attacks and we saw it yesterday when it got personal. President obama actually came up with a new word and last night in that rally romney had an indirect although not too subtle answer. At a rally in virginia the president introduced a new word in the political vocabulary. I mean hes changing up so much and back tracking and side stepping. We got a name thats a condition that hes going through. I think i think its called romnesia. Reporter later in the day the Vice President never afraid to throw a punch reinforced the attack. The president has a new term for this sort of ability to change your mind so quickly. He calls it romnesia. Reporter its the latest missive in an increasingly negative campaign. Last night before huge crowds in daytona beach, florida rommyney answered back. They have been reduced to petty attacks and silly word games. Just watch this. The Obama Campaign has become the incredible shrinking campaign. This is a big country with big opportunities and great challenges and they keep on talking about smaller and smaller things. Reporter now, Romney Campaign adviser told me yesterday he was stunned by the romnesia remark. It wasnt president ial. The Obama Campaign say they believe it will rally their base and help them with turnout on election day. The Romney Campaign says they are not buying that. They think this could come back to haunt the president , especially with those undecided voters who could well decide this election. But well know in 17 days rebecca. It is incredible just 17 days. Jn crawford in daytona beach. Thank you. Joining us with more as campaign 2012 heads into those final 17 days is frank luntz a cbs news political analyst and republican strategist. Welcome. Great to have you here in the studio with us. Hard to believe its all coming down to one final debate and the problem we have now is finding those undecided voters. In our polling its down to 3 . Even half of those actually have an inkling, a leaning. Peggy noonan talked about how much these debates mean. Nobody trust these ads. They are object expensive. In ohio you can go through ads in four minutes you got advertising, all eight ads political and no one knows what to believe so these debates are the only chance you get unedited unfiltered ideas and communication from these candidates. This last debate is on Foreign Policy. A lot will be centered around libya, i think. How much of an impact do you think the issue of libya will have particularly with the 1 undecided. If youre undecided and the president and the governor dont agree on anything. If you are undecided its about character and attributes not about issue. Obama has had an advantage on Foreign Policy because of the killing of bin laden. Republicans have advantage on National Security. But its hard for a governor to claim credit. This is mitt romneys opportunity to prove hes president ial and this is obamas last chance to answer these questions that still remain about libya. When you look at the undecideds, the women voters both of these individuals have gone after the female vote in recent days. What case needs to be made in order to secure that vote . Its not a month nolithic block. The key is 30 to 49yearolds, married and they approve of mitt romneys Economic Policy but they think that barack obama understands them more. Thats the battle. Is it going to be who can solve your problems or who understands your problem and both candidate have a weakness there. If youre those two candidates what do you do . Im using the fraporeign policy debate to link the economic issue. The debt. How can you have a strong Foreign Policy how can you have National Security when you have a 16 trillion debt. So i would expect mitt romney to bring Economic Issues into the Foreign Policy debate. This campaign right now is basically a dead heat. You look at these polls. Within the margin of error. Mitt romney has a slight advantage on the popular vote. Barack obama is leading in ohio. I remind viewers the fact is you can win by 2 of the popular vote and still not become president. The whole country is now focused on cleveland, cincinnati and columbus and what happens there. Both of these campaigns will be focused on the question of benghazi its come up in the debates already. What might we hear thats new. Dont know if youll hear something new. Mitt romney had the right point and wrong language. When he challenged barack obama, yes, the president had called it a terrorist attack but he continued to make the claim for the next ten days. It was based on a video. When romney said he never said it was a terrorist attack romney was wrong but on the overall romney was correct the administration got it wrong. So who is best to handle a crisis. Who do you want at 3 00 a. M. To pick up that phone as Hillary Clinton claim in 2008. The single best line of the campaign so far is gm is alive, bin laden is dead and romney has to challenge that. Bid ensaid that. Thanks so much for joining us. Joe biden said something intelligent. Thank you, frank. Thanks. As rebecca pointed out the closer we get to the election the harder republicans in congress are pushing for answers to a big question what really happened in the attack in benghazi libya last month that killed the u. S. Ambassador and three other americans. Sharyl attkisson has been looking into this and what she found raises new questions about whether the u. S. Military could have done more to save the four men. She joins us from our Washington Bureau. Good morning. Reporter good morning. Some in congress are asking why u. S. Military help from outside libya didnt arrive as terrorists battered more than 30 americans over the course of more seven hours. The assault launched by an armed mob of dozens that torched buildings and used ak47 rifles. Cbs news had been told hours after the assault began an unmanned predator drone was sent over the u. S. Mission in benghazi. It and other aircraft apparently observed the final hours of the battle. The state Department White house and pentagon declined to say what military options were available. A white house official told us that at the start of the attack chairman of joint chiefs Martin Dempsey and defense secretary leon panetta looked at available options and the ones we exercised had our military forces arrive in less than 24 hours. Well ahead of timelines laid out in established policies. But it was too late to help the americans in benghazi. The ambassador and three others were dead. Gary burnside believes help could have come much sooner. He commanded Missions TargetingOsama Bin Laden and led a team on the Embassy Bombings in east africa. You find a way to make this happen. Theres not a plan for every single engagement. Sometimes you have to make adjustments. They made zero adjustments. They stood and watched and our people died. Reporter the pentagon said it did move a team of special operators from Central Europe to sigonella, italy, a large air station an hour flight from libya. Other nearby bases inclouded aviano and souda bay. Resources included fighter jets and gun ships. Which the sources say can be extremely effective in flying in and buzzing a crowd to disperse it. Rick nelson a former navy pilot who worked in counterterrorism said such missions are very risky. What would be the concerns as they are trying to decide whether to send force in quickly . As we saw with the bin laden raid it was a very successful event but high risk activities like this a lot can go wrong as we saw with the iranian hostage rescue decades ago. Reporter and to the controversy the fact the last two americans didnt die until more than six hours into the attack and the question of military help becomes very important. This question of diplomatic concerns as we understand it plays insending u. S. Military into another countrys airspace that can be a sensitive issue. Reporter that was likely part of the discussion sending military into another country can be sensitive and delicate. Weve been told mrs. Clinton sought clearances from libya to fly into their airspace but the administration wont say anything further what was said or decided on that front. And you cant help but notice when you pull up to the gas station were finally seeing some relief at the pump. The National Average for a gallon of regular has fallen more than ten Straight Days and its now 3. 69. Tom is here to tell us why this is happening now. How long we can expect it to continue. All of the questions weighing on consumers minds. Tom, great to have you with us. Nice to be here. We typically around August September start to see oil prices fall. This year they started dropping a little bit later. Why . We had that hurricane isaac which came in september. Then we had a rash of refinery incidents, glitches fires, you name it and we struggled to make enough fuel so there was a lot of panic buying sent wholesale prices through the roof particularly in california. But now thats giving way to panic selling, wholesale prices are down anywhere from 50 cents to as much as a 1. 40 in the last 2 1 2 weeks. Tom i think the president will be glad to hear the prices are falling pretty rapidly in the battleground states arent they . Actually they are falling in the battleground states. They are falling in all 48 states in the continental u. S. But the biggest declines and the places youll most likely see less than 3 is in the southeast and some of the red states. But ohio right now, for example is somewhere between 3 and 3. 20 a gallon. Hell get a little bit of benefit from that. Last year at this time the National Average was 3. 47. How long before we see that price . Well i would say the odds are probably 5050 we might see it by election day. I think theres a good chance and these prices are going to be very similar to what we saw last year. Five to 15 cents lower every week for the next three weeks. In the debates, tom, its come up a lot of discussion about gas prices. Is there actually anything that the white house really can do to control the price of gas . I dont think so. I think they can do some things that would help the impact of price of gasoline three, four five ten years out. Better mileage standards. But theres not anything one can do to do a quick fix. Its a global market. Were the beneficiaries of the fact that our crude oil is 20 below the price of crude in every other continent in the world right now. Thanks tom. Malala yousufzai, the pakistani teenager shot by the taliban has come out of her coma and was able to stand yesterday in her hospital room in england. She was described as looking bright and alert. Word of that set off celebrations in pakistan. The daughter of the late pakistani leader tweeted miracles of today, Malala Yousufzai able to stand. Joining us now from washington our Washington Bureau is gayle lemon, Deputy Director of women policy program and author of the best selling book on life under the taliban. Thanks for being with us. To begin with how big a symbol has Malala Yousufzai become in pakistan . I tnk this is a story that really has galvanized both that country and the world. And shes a symbol of so many other young girls you never meet who danger acid attacks every day just for the simple act of going into a classroom and sitting and learning. I think you may able to shoot a 15yearold girl but you cant kill an idea and shes become only more powerful, a symbol of the right to go to cool every day. The taliban said when she comes back or if she comes back they will kill her. Do you think theres any chance this incredibly strong woman will be backing down . Look if they threateneder and he had didnt give up before she shot her. You can imagine after they shot her she wont be quiet. She said in 2009 they cant stop me. I cant believe that now the word has been forced to Pay Attention to these girls in their drug told go to school. What kind of reception she will get when she returns home . I think she will be greeted with a heros reception because really there are so many young women who have the same story. You know they fight all the time with the support of their father just as Malala Yousufzai did. Yet almost no one pays attention to their struggle until something this extreme and this awful forces the world to Pay Attention to these home grown role models. You have written about the Malala Yousufzais youll never meet. I spent years interviewing women that braved real danger and girls sitting there. Is this a western import or foreign import. The truth is even when the world forgets these girls they fight themselves for the right to go to stool. What this story has done is made it impossible to look away. Have you seen much progress in the schools in pakistan . You know in afghanistan particularly you see a lot. 2001, less than 1 of the countrys girls were in school and now close to 3 million are. And every day they go out and battle. All kinds of threats just to sit and learn. Their battle is really everyones fight because if you look at the world, 40 million of the 70 million children who arent in school are in countries that are struggling against war and there is no better correlation to predicting violence than education levels. Thanks so much for being with us this morning. Great to join you. O inspiring story a young boxer will step into the ring tonight here in new york to do what hes been trained to do. Not really a big deal or it is . In fact it is. Its a surprise this athlete has even walked again and even tonight the three doctors who saved his life will be rooting for him at ring side. Michelle miller reports. Reporter bust engineer Daniel Jacobs is the picture of a prize fight ear middleweight standout with 22 wins one loss and 19 knockouts. Its that record he hopes to reclai when he steps into the ringing tonight at brooklyns new barclay center. But hes already beaten the odds. Here i am a 24yearold man at the time. World class athlete. So for notice have this in my body how could this happen to me . Reporter in april of last year doctors discovered a mass the size of a baseball. It wrapped its way around his spinal cord pressing him into slow paralysis. By mid may the doctor removed the cancer. Hes somebody with his charisma, almost being unable to move his legs, you wonder what will this mean for a person of his age. Reporter for jacobs it meant months of rehabilitation. Doctors told him he might never walk again let alone box. The doctors orpdsders were to day home and get better. I didnt listen. I went to the gym. I had a back brace and still at this time i had to have a cain because it was hard for me to walk. But i was just doing my onetwo on the bag. With his personality and with his level of motivation clearly is one of those individuals who can bounce back from such devastating situation. Reporter doctors caused him about returning to the ring but jacobs said its where he wants to be. I could have easily given up because boxing is a hard sport. My reason for doing this is to inspire as many people as i can. Reporter boxing jacobs said has taut him discipline. Its not just about winning its about never giving up. For cbs this Morning SaturdayMichelle Miller new york. Great story. Coming up the cuban missile crisis 50 years ago this month the world stood on the brink of nuclear war. Coming up well have the latest on a story thats been making a lot of waves in the quiet seaside town of kennenbunk, maine. 100 men are involved in a prostitution scandal including the mayor of south portland. Some of those men say that they are being treated unfairly. Well be speaking with an attorney for two of those johns who have been listed very publicly. A lot of those names havent been released. Well be right back. This is cbs this Morning Saturday. Romnesia. Whats up with this weather . Lonnie its your fault. My fault. Look its the time of the year where we transition. Youre into fall but early fall and look you get the up and downswings. Already in new york city weve had temperatures up and down to freezing and then this week well have temperatures in the 70s. I love fall. I love fall. You guys like fall . It always seems to last for the shortest amount of time. Why is that . Because the transition season. Other transition season is spring. And those two seasons are our two what feel like the shortest seasons. Those are the best ones. We have milder temperatures and not much humidity out there. The problem is it just doesnt last long enough but yet if you look on a chart every season is the exact amount of time. I love watching people in new york when the temperature drops to 50. All of a sudden they are in these huge coats and scarves and im like its 50. Thats the first time it drops. Later in january when you hit 50 degree temperatures people are out in shorts and got tshirts on. Thats what i love when spring comes and then its as if summer is here the same temperature can impact us totally differently. Weve had this conversation right before when i was growing up as a kid in minnesota at halloween i couldnt show off my costume. I had to wear a winter coat over it. I was a pumpkin with a puffer jacket. My daughter will be a pumpkin. Do you have the costume all picked out. Well need pictures of this. Either that or she will be a lobster and i carry her around in a pot. Send your vote to facebook. Well be right back. In a tube in florida. Welcome to cbs this Morning Saturday im rebecca jarvis. Im anthony mason. First, the latest on the prostitution scandal that erupted in kennebunk, maine. The town is a charming seaside place and usually pretty quiet but not lately. An ugly scandal doggone the postcard pretty town of kennebunk, maine has gotten uglier. At its center alexis write. Shes charged with operating a Fitness Studio as a front for her prostitution business. I have no comment. Wright and 57yearold associate mark strong are also accused of secretly videotaping the encounters. Investigators have released the names and dresses of 21 of her alleged clients. A new group is expected to identified next week with many more to follow. The process will continue until all 150 or so suspected johns have been named. It could be months yet. They are only releasing 21 names or fewer at a time you know. We could be heading in to the new year. One of the men accused said its forced him to leave his job as the High School Football coach even though hes only been charged with a misdeamnor and hasnt been convicted of anything. Opinions in kennebunk are divided about the fairness of this shame on you tactic. But everyone agrees its a list they dont want to be on. And for more on this were joined by gary perlman the attorney for two men and jean casares. You represent two of the alleged johns here. Why is this a problem to put this information out there. Give their names to the world . We had two motions pending, rebecca and they were filed last friday. One was to seal the identity of the defendants and also one was to proceed under a pseudo name like john doe. Those motions are still pending. We were promised by the Kennebunk Police department they would withhold giving out all the names until this has been fully adjudicated. They havent heard the case surrounding keeping these names off the record calling them yukon doe yet they have released the names. Thats correct. Thats pretty revolting to me and pretty disturbed about it. Did the court give you any reason why they did it . We havent been heard by the court yet. Were hoping to be heard this week by the court. We were hoping all last week we would be heard by the court. The problem is the Police Department has caused irreparable damage to people who have only been accused. One of your clients has resigned from his job. Because hes a selfless man and he did a very selfless act by zoing because he didnt want to put Kennebunk High School through the parade. It would have been his 20th year. What reason did the judge give for releasing these names . Theres an order from a judge that encompasses all of the defendants here and thats the operative word. These men are being charged. This usually isnt done in prostitution cases. But they are defendants so the judge is saying we live in a Public Court System these men are being charged, they are defendants we cant set a precedents that defendants names are sealed. Thats not the way its done. Why release part of the names as opposed to all. They are doing it in successive groups. Why . That doesnt make sense to me. The next group to be released is in a couple of weeks. Theres well over 100 names. Youre putting even more scrutiny on that first batch of names. Good point. They are issuing summons and these are misdeamnor engaging a prostitute but they are doing it in groups. It also should be noted, i think, that my motions are completely separate and devoid from the other ones that have been heard by the court. The state alleged in their indictments against miss wright and mr. Strong that my clients were victims. They said in their affidavits to the court and representations to the courts that they were victims. As such they should be ordered the confidentiality that all victims get in cases and thats what my motions are about, their names should be sealed like any other victims in any other case. But so far help not. Now that the names are out in public whats your case . My case is that theres a lot of people right behind him, supposedly like 50 other cases that the state is picking and choosing who is going to get prosecuted, who wont and i have a lot of other people that have come to see me. They are victims because they were videotaped as they did the act with the other defendant, Alexis Wright and the court said all right they are a defendant, alleged victim but in our system that happens frequently and the public has a right to know. The worse Case Scenario that my clients could face if they are found guilty would be a fine just north of a speeding ticket. And, you know so the harm when you weigh the harm as far as im concerned theres no harm to the public. Theres no Public Safety issues or anything like that. Of keeping their identities concealed at this point. And im looking forward to my day in court. Hopefully it will be this week. Thanks to both of you for joining us. Thank you very much. Now heres lonnie with another check of the weather. Good morning, everybody. Lets get right to big old map called the surface analysis map showing you where the major systems are. Low pressure system around the great lakes. Big strong High Pressure around mississippi valley. But a couple of lower systems, low pressure system more surface related up around the fantastic northwest and High Pressure system not super strong in the midsection of the country. Its how those two will Work Together that becomes the weather story. If you look at it here guys zoom in tight. Right there. Pacific northwest im talking low pressure system but just not all that impressive looking. Scattered precipitation here or there but, again, its low pressure working with High Pressure that brings in the story. Big time winds from spokane to butte. Winds sustained today 25240 Miles Per Hour four. Some of you will have gusts up to 60 Miles Per Hour. 60 mileperhour gusts in this section of the country thats a Strong Tropical Storm force winds. Im telling everybody hold on to your hats in the northwest and northern rockies. Thats a quick look at the National Picture. Heres a closer look at your weather for the weekend. Have a good day, everybody. Anthony, its all yours. Up next on the 4th day the world sighed with relief remembering the cuban missile cry sues and the threat of nuclear war 50 years ago. It was 50 years ago when we teetered on the brink of nuclear war. David goldman is an assistant professor of history and author of the 14th day, jfk and the aftermath of the cuban missile crisis. I remember this so well. My mother drilled it into my head we were on the brink of the apocalypse. You titled your book the 14th day. Why the title . We remember this as a 13 day crisis and that was the most dangerous period that was really the high noon phase where they faced off eye ball to eye ball. On the 13th day wrong. There are 260 hours of recordings surrounding this event. Youve list enned to them. What did you learn about kennedy and what surprised you the most . Kennedy, when it came to Foreign Policy liked to keep his options open so what hes doing through a lot of this period is trying to avoid getting boxed in. He had been boxed in with the cuban missile crisis. But hes trying to keep his options open. Thats very important for the way he approach not just cuba but then coming up to vietnam and other issues as well. What was his intention or strategy in this crisis . He was taking things as they came. I mean this is breaking very quickly in realtime. He had the luxury at the out set of a few days to think about this quietly with his advisers. His strategy was to get out of this without nuclear war which was obvious but was hard because he doesnt control everything. He doesnt control whats happening on the ground with his own troops. These recordings that i mentioned were made public. Why was that . They were made public and we can thank Richard Nixon and watergate for this. When the nixon tapes became public, it turned out that other president s, we subsequently learned that other president s had taped and we had six president s that secretly taped in the white house, both political parties. With those tapes we have this remarkable intimate view of what life is like in the white house. The president at the time was not releasing much information about what was going on. Why was that . He wanted to control the information. There were several reasons for doing that. One of them is he didnt want to broadcast his actions to the soviets or cubans and the other of that he didnt want inaccurate information coming out. People then as now had agendas and were leaking specific types of information. Extraordinary moment in time. Thank you for being with us. Up next has this ever happened to someone you know . I want to buy eight hot dogs and eight hot dog buns to go with them but no one sell eight hot dog buns they only sell 12. Somebody decided to rip off the american public. Have you seen a rendition of that in the lifetime . Why people suddenly reach the end of their rope and how to avoid it. Thats the important part. Youre watching cbs this Morning Saturday. Go to the back of the line. I was waiting for this space. Yeah tough. Is there a manager here . Im the manager. How can i help you . Is everything all right . Im angry because these two people cut in line in front of me and everyone is letting them get away with it. Those two people with their stupid faces. What makes people suddenly explode with anger like that for issues that are according to some pretty small and how can we avoid it. Chief of psychiatry at new York Presbyterian Columbia Medical Center is here. We never really feel when we explode that its over a small thing. But sometimes it really is. First, everybody has their breaking point. Whether its the starw that break the camels back or drop that over fills the cup it can happen to anybody. I flew up here yesterday from being out of town and the tsa line i almost lost it. Dont think anybody has never lost it. Thats ten for me. What is precipitating these reactions and are they occurring more frequently. Its complicated. Ill try to break it down. First, oftentimes in the context of real mental disorders people have emotional volatility and irritability. Its the signature of ptsd and bipolar disorder. Theres a disorder that has a name for losing your temper violently, excessively its called intermittent explosive criteria. What were talking about here is when normal people in every day life just lose it they overreact, they do something that they are either embarrassed for or incur legal consequences and it happens tomb. The we is it happening more often and why . To some extent its probably related to sociocultural factors. There was a survey done in 1990. He repeated it 15 years later in 2005 he found that the biggest increase of any disorder was intermittent explosive disrecord. People have a lower threshold before they explode. Ultimately frequently they are not angry about people cutting in line its a cumulative thing. Thats the trigger. Thats the trigger that pushes their button or sends them over the top. It can happen to everybody. But it happens to people that dont have some preexisting disorder. It seems to be accumulation of a number of stresses and slights and things that have happened in the course of our life. Now were in a culture where never in Human History of people having to deal with so much information what do people do if they are coming unhinged . Well the first thing, having a mental meltdown or emotional meltdown is a signal that youre having difficulty with emotional control. People should be able to control their emotions behave appropriately and also be able to contax cut themselves in appropriate way. If they lose that then they have to be able to understand why. Coming up what in the world is going on with tim tebow. A year ago he was the biggest story in pro football but now hes highprofile decoy with the new york jets. Well take what brought tebow back down to earth. A growing scandal on the internet. Yelp warns some businesses are paying for positive reviews. They are fighting back. How do you know if the reviews you rely on are real. The queen of rockabilly in her sixth decade of song. Well meet Wanda Jackson. But first lets get caught up on the latest terror plot here in new york. A 21yearold student from beneficial is charged with trying to blow up the Federal Reserve bank. Cbs this morning Senior Correspondent john miller got an exclusive interview with the u. S. Attorney overseeing the investigation and hes here with the details. Good morning, john. Good morning. Loretta lynch is the United States attorney for the eastern be district of new york, a veteran prosecutor shes been at the forefront of some of the most significant terrorist cases in the post9 11 era including the plot to set off bombs in the new york subways and the plot to blow up the fuel pipelines to jfk airport. Now she rarely sits down for interviews but yesterday i was able to talk to her about the case thats been making headlines all week. I asked her about the plot the suspect and how al qaedas message continues to reach young men like Quazi Mohammad rezwanul ahsan nafis. This case means that theres still a concerted effort by al qaeda to insert individuals into the u. S. Who will carry out their plan to disrupt the economy and to do great destruction and damage. Individuals who essentially are not necessarily tied to a larger group but come here looking to recruit other people who share the same views. And look for targets and carry out acts of destruction. In the complaint, the defendant is quoted as saying before he ever got here he was part of a network of al qaeda contacts overseas. Does it appear that he was sent here or that he selfdeployed . Is he part of a net orchestrate . Was that bluster . You know, the investigation is continuing on a lot of fronts. What is year is that when he arrived here he had already conceived of the plan to construct a bomb of some sort and of large magnitude and to effect great destruction. Whats also clear he had already conceived of the plan to come here and recruit others already in the u. S. To join him and thats what he set about doing. So the case obviously continues and one of the things that is striking about this is really the concept that you arrest these guys and people say they wouldnt have had the capability if not for the undercover and the fbi supplying all of this to pull off such a plot. Whats interesting about this as i was talking to loretta lynch, it was the suspect that directed the purchase of the materials, how much to buy, what type. He came with his own recipe for this bomb. And as they built this 1,000 pound device out in a warehouse out in long island he was directing them how to build it. Its really an interesting case. You got to wonder that with all the security in the financial district how this guy was able to park a van with 1,000 pound of explosives right next to the Federal Reserve. Ray kelly, the new York Police Commissioner talks about his ring of steel around wall street, thats very hard to get 1,000 pound truck bomb through all the checkpoints. Anticipating that it was like an episode of 24. They had to get people from the terrorist task force with all the checkpoints, talking to the surveillance teams, following the truck to make sure not that the truck didnt get through to the target to make sure whatever checkpoint it approached the truck did get past it and didnt get stopped. So it was part of a really elaborate surveillance exercise to make sure he got to his target. John miller thanks. Tim tebow has trade marked his famous stance that became widely known as tebowing when he was one of the biggest pro football stars playing. But this year hes been spending most of his time on the sidelines. So why is tim tebow the former golden boy of the nfl missing in action or rather missing from the action on the field . It was just a year ago that tim tebow was leading the Denver Tim Tebow amazing when you think about it because its only been ten months since tim tebow was sort of the toast of the world. After losing in the second round of the playoffs it was over for theim tebow. What they were saying back when the trade was made was look we want this guy to play a whole lot and instead whats happened hes barely been on the field. As a back up quarterback hes only taken 21 snaps. Hes the most famous decoy and master of the fake punt. I agree with the people who dont think he was truly a quarterback but on the other hand i think hes someone that has to be on the field. Now coach rex ryan saying tebow could see time on sunday when they take on the patriots. The press thinks its more of a hail mary. The thing about tim, playing quarterback he knows all the positions. So can you plug him in that running back . Plug him in at tight end . The answer is yes. Lets get some insight into this gridiron soap opera from sean gregory. Hes a writer at time magazine. Good morning. Good morning. So all of this really . What happened here . Well, you know the jets thought they were getting, you know a guy that they could plug in every where but they found out, i think, that they didnt want to meet with the psyche of their starting quarterback, mark sanchez. Football is a rhythm game you want to get snaps. Its tough to kind of mix things up all the time and i think the jets are fining its easier to go with your guy and football coaches by nature are fairly conservative although rex ryan is a bluster guy hell do it by the book and give his guy a chance mark sanchez. What is the atmosphere like in the locker room around tim tebow. I was there last week. Friday was tebows day to talk. Mark sanchez is sitting there. Its not his talking day like why are all these people around tebow. He doesnt play and hes the center of attention. Some of his teammates were walking by bemused how ernest he is. How does he feel about not playing. You dont go a team to make money. Youre in the sport in part because you want to play. Hes a competitor and engineered to be polite and not mix things up. But and he was guy who led his team to the playoffs last year that was dead in the water and won a playoff game. Hes not a total iprove incommodity but had this great run. He was the story of the nfl last year. Its not easy for him to sit down. You got to think that the jets management to some degree could have foreseen this the coach could have foreseen this. So why do it do you think . I think im not totally convinced it was all for the attention in the business. Publicity . Might have been a part of it. Jets attention isnt off the chart so it hasnt worked on that end. I think they thought they could get a guy who can be on the field once in a while, mix things up and play like he did last year but, again, i think rex ryan has to ride his guy out, mark sanchez. They signed a big contract before they traded for tim tebow. Thank you. On the tebow psycho drama as you call it. Up next gaming yelp. Quite a few people have been trying to cheat and yelp found out about it. Yelp post ad warning that someone had been got red handed by trying to buy reviews for a particular business which hurts businesses and consumers. How do you know if the reviews youre looking at anywhere in the social media world are reliable. Well discuss that with the aluminum columnist from reuters. People need some way of knowing what they are reading has some validity. Usually its by volume. Usually you read stuff and get an idea. When the company itself has a business interest in not doing this, does this its a very good sign. What percentage of ads out there, reviews out there, what percentage do you think is real . Probably mostly real and probably mostly worthless. It was awful, it was great. You want to look for detail. How dare they charge this much for a martini in the middle of nowhere. That gives you a sense the person was there, they have an opinion and something you can relate to. They are using Technology Yelp is to determine and spot whether its a fake or a real review. They were already doing that but upgraded the technology. They alone cant solve the problem for the entire internet because you have reviews on multiple spots and they get pulled into other sites. Right. The reason this works despite everyones attempts to game it is the sheer volume of it. We all sort of criticize wikipedia, but we use wikipedia and we have a way of understanding what parts of it makes sense. In a way this is a huge problem. That said yelp is a very valuable resource. It makes and breaks businesses. So if you make it your business to game that system its very very important. Very good for yelp to be getting ahead of this. Do you think this consumer notice will have some impact . Sure. A Scarlet Letter or billboard saying this guy is a creep he done pay his Child Support thats good stuff and if the company itself which has a history of trying to prove that its agnostic years ago they were accused of extorting ads. Went to that oktoberfest. My first job was in tulsa, oklahoma. Hes mentioning all of her friends. We like to get our shout outs. Speaking of shout outs thought about wilbur in charlotte. Believe it or not the characters of the childrens classic charlottes web are turning 60 years old. That hurts. Of course they are ageless to all those who loved them as kids or love reading the book. Elaine quijano has a fresh look at this wonderful story. Good morning. When the author first introduced Young Readers to charlotte, the great barn spider the world of childrens literature had never seen a story like it. Its a tale of friendship and deals with the painful realities of life and death. 60 years ago its a story that still endures. Beloved Childrens Book charlottes rewas released on october 15 1952. Since then its sold millions of copy printed in 35 languages and spawned two movies. My name is charlotte. The story centers on an unlikely friendship between a pig named wilbur and a spider charlotte. She with weaves words into her web aiming to save wilburs life. The story is based on an actual pig. He worked with his son, stayed up all need. Nothing work. The pig dies and much more sad than he taught have been. It stays in his mine. I love that. It comes alive then as a character in his mine. He wanted to write a different ending. Many writers admit they want to write a different ending to real life and thats what he did. Wright was an animal lover. Details mattered to him. He consulted with new yorks American Museum of natural history. Where charlotte has inspired generations of spider lovers and an pibt. It was his research here that gave charlotte her name. He discovered he had the wrong scientific name for the spider. So he shrinks the little a initial and gives a beautiful italian surname and becomes charlotte. Wright chose to allow charlotte to die just as barn spiders do in real life after laying their eggs. Her death moved wright deeply which became very clear when he recorded an audio version of the story. Goodbye she whispered. Then she summoned all her strength and waved one of her front legs at him. She never moved again. He gets to the saddest moment of the book when charlotte is dying and he has to read those words. No one was with her when she died. No one was with her when she died. 16 times his voice cracked or he got tears in his eyes and he had to stop and he said this is ridiculous. This spider is imaginary. On the 17th take 20 years after it was published he finally was able to read it without breaking down. Why do you think that story is so timeless its not really about death. Its really about mostly like the joy of being alive. And the thrill of having your first friend. And the library of congress recently designated charlottecharlottes web a book that shaped america. They said the story was notable for the way i want treats death as a natural part of life. Certainly shaped my childhood. It was read to me. In read it myself and i read to it my kids. Tough stuff but important and beautiful. Really is. Thanks elaine. Nice work. Coming up next the scariest movies ever like this one. Heres johnny its amazing. As we head towards halloween its expected to be top at the box office. No doubt fans will love it but it got us thinking what are the scariest movies ever made. Were asking an expert one who has seen all of them. Youve seen a lot of movies in your lifetime. Every one of them. It was frighteningly boring. I liked the first one. You know whats funny. Paranormal. This is business as usual. The demons have their own union. First five nights one bump. Then they drop a chandler then they get the rest of the day off. Theres such a thing as anticipation but when you sit there for an hour going okay we get it were waiting. Then when it finally comes and its nothing people were booing the screen. Thats not good. The first one had its moment the first one did get unique skin. Simply because your point of view was so narrow. You didnt have this point of view it came through. Lets start the list. Scaryiest movies of all time. Were starting with the innocence. Its about a governess who takes care of two children who may be or may not be hollanded by the ghost of their previous governess. It could be a proexin her mind or real. We just dont know. Not knowing gets under your skin. The scariest thing i saw as a kid was a shot of the governess across the pond standing staring. Is she a ghost . Did we imagine her. I took it to my bed and dreams. Fourth on your list a movie i dont think anyone who has forgotten, jaws. Jaws exploded everybodys terror of the sea. Steven spielbergberg caught us off guard even when we knew what was coming we didnt know when. I remember being in the theater the first night it opened. And we started to laugh at something that roy said. He was there. He was at the side of the boat. Thrown off the boat. You started laugh. Hey come down and shovel this. The laugh came out of our mouth and the shark popped up and i swear to god the entire theater levitated. We went crazy. We were insane. Never seen anything like it. We didnt even hear his line you need a bigger boat. Moving on to top three you chose 1999 the blair witch project. These are not my favorite horror films these are the scariest. Frankenstein is by favorite. Anybody can make a boo movie. Any bum can throw a spider at you and you jump. What blair witch project taught us theres nothing scary than nothing. Theres something that triggers your fight or flight instinct. You know theres a threat you dont know why. The blair witch project used our modern technology or attachment to video cameras and just triggered your imagination showing nothing. Nothing. The second on your list is psycho. Whats the number one scariest movie of all time for me everything was different after the night of the living dead. Society was an upheaval. You saw achildren eating their parents. You saw brothers eating their children. That was everything going on the street. Who cares it was laughable. It did not have a happy ending. Nothing was ever the same for movies after the night of the living dead. Zombies were not funny back then. At the time those ghouls got in our dreams and became a metaphor for everything we thought was wrong and scary about american history. And its still there. Its still taken hold. Zombies have their own union too. They do. Thats whats so sad. The fact is we need those unions because you dont know where that meat has been. I want needs to be inspected. All right. People need to be checked. Thanks so much. You can have your spider back. Thanks so much. Sleep well. Coming up next laurent tourondel. Hes serving up his ultimate dish the oh, so french dish.
