Kron fours rob nesbitt asked the doctors about what they want to see in the next contract to rob us live in the newsroom. Rob. Catherine, the doctors are not on strike yet, but they did stop work for about a half an hour today to fight for what they call a fair contract. Uc campuses across the state have been the site of signs chance and megaphone. What do we wednesday was no exception at the Mission Bay Conference Center courtyard at ucsf where unionize resident physicians stopped work in the afternoon to demand fair pay and benefits. Doctor kelli butler is a secondyear resident at ucsf and says shes a month away from a student loan repayment. She cant afford very real reality that people cant afford to park it work. People cant afford to put food on their table. People cant afford to solicit childcare because theyre working 80 hours a week and they cant take care of their own kids. Doctor butler is one of 5,000 doctors who have been in contract negotiations for the last 9 months with ucsf. The group rallying alongside the almost 50,000 uc academic workers on strike this week. The unity break also consisted of fellows like doctor paul wallace who is continuing his psychiatry trading. So were hoping we dont. Ever have to get to a point that we have to go on strike and we can come to a resolution of the contract before that doctors at uc davis and uc la hospitals also walked out of the job wednesday. All 3 walkouts getting the support of senator scott wiener. We dont want someone who is learning how to be a surgeon or a psychiatrist to learning how provide medical care to people. We dont want them to have to like not be able to make route uc campuses are world renowned for their research in health and medicine. Doctor butler says that cant continue if theres an adequate compensation for the young talent being recruited. In Santa Clara County, the registrar of voters has completed the examination of those ballots that were found dumped near highway 17. Most of them have been approved to be counted. They will be included in the official midterm results. 36 ballots found alongside the road near highway 17 last friday. They went missing while in possession of the Postal Service. The Postal Service found them turn them in monday. 31 of the ballots could be verified. 4 had open envelopes. One ballot had a signature that did not match the signature on file. The voters who were affected are being notified of the status of those ballots. In the national way, republicans are projected to win a majority of seats in the house of representatives.
