The state department is no longer cancelling the visas of those from countries mentioned in president Donald Trumps executive order. Good news for those who have been protesting the ban at airports all over the country. Kron fours Spencer Blake is live at sfo tonight with more on what this reversal means. Spencer. I spoke to an immigration attorney todayand she says everything is back to the status quo right nowso people on flights to the us right now ashould have a much easier time when they arrive at the airport. Because of a washingon state federal judges ruling fridaythe controversial travel ban youve heard so much about is not currently in effect. Usually a stay is an Equitable Relief to stop things until there can be a full hearing. To fall in line with the ruling, the state department is now allowing anyone with a valid visa to enter the us. The department of Homeland Security is no longer telling airlines to stop visa holders from boarding planes to the us in those seven mostly muslim nations listed in last weeks executive order. But Immigration Attorneys are still camped out at San Francisco international airport, doing their best to monitor compliance. Making sure that people are coming through and being inspected as usual, without extra hurdles. So far they havent seen visa holders affected by the bans refersal; those travelers will probably start arriving sunday. One woman who was waiting for a friend from france says the back and forth has been very confusing. Well i dont know it seems very messy. It seems like those politics are just made out of the whim. The department of justice isnt sitting still on the travel bans reversal, though. It sent a notice of appeal to the ninth Circuit Court of appeals saturday. But because things are back to the way they were, there were anot protesters in the International Terminal of sfo at least not for now. Evelyn herrera, the immigration attorney you heard from says the stay will remain in place until the next hearing. And in her legal experience, that could be months from now. Thank you for standing up and educating and protecting and nurturing our childrenmore than a thousand members of the California Teachers Association met in san jose on saturday. While they encouraged each other in their professional challenges, their most critical concern was this woman, betsey devos, Donald Trumps nomination to be secretary of education. She is probably the most unqualified candidate ever to be nominated for the secretary of education. Betsy devos is totally unqualified. She has never taught at a public school, gone to a public school, sent her children to a public school, has no clue what Public Schools are about. What she has done is spent her entire career and wealth undermining public education. What they find most distressing about devos is her unwavering support of vouchers for private Charter Schools. To take money away to go to Charter Schools takes money away only depletes the funds for every child in a good education. They try to package it up really nicely choice. Our students need a qualified, experienced secretary of education that will improve and support public education. The teachers issued a clarion call to the entire state to dismiss the devos nomination. So were asking all of you, and in fact all of california. Dump devos. So they created an encampment the problem was they constructed it in a city park although the protestors claim this land is owned by nobody, so technically its still indigious land the city says we actually have a lease with caltrans to operate this park as a park now here is where i fit in. I found out about the park 48 hours before it was to be cleared, however the city notified the people camped here we put up a notice of violation on the 27th of january and then we came in on the 30 of january and put up our 72 hour notice which included laundry list of violations we posted notice of all the health and safety violations tehre were about 18 of them they were municiple Code Violations fire safty Code Violations state penal Code Violations. For the record no one can claim land simply because you dont like the up keep the interesting part about this story, its a public park yet the protestors many who are not homeless created a waiting list for people to live in the public park. Seems legitim sure there will be more to this story in the future oh i almost forgot the city allowed the protestors to remove their property and offered housing for the homess in one of the citys shelters in west oakland Stanley Roberts kron 4 news if you have a comment or story idea for stanley, email us at people behaving badly at kron fourdotcom. And the game could end up being a historic night for bay area native tom brady. The pride of san mateo. Could earn a record 5thchampionship. The most of any qb in nfl history. Mark carpenter recently caught up with bradys High School Coach and teammate. And has their account on how the legend of brady started. Pkgtom mackenzie he was already a little past six feet. He was not real quick afoot and he didnt have what youd call great agility, but he could throw. And you could say, young tommy turned into somewhat of an expert at throwing. If he didnt have a talent for tossing the football, he wouldnt be near the top of practically every major passing category. Brady has fired many touchdowns to many receivers over the years, but before edelman and gronkowski, there was john kirby the man who hauled in td number one. Teammateit was in a scrimmage. Up in st ignacious. I have the vcr tape somewhere and it was time for the backups to go in. A stadium thats a tribute to his hall of fame resume and work ethic. Mackenziei never had to tell him to train or work hard to get ready for football. He was always willing to do that on his own. Kirbyyou know, people gave him a hard time about his foot speed, so instead of kind of complaining and wallowing in it. He put the same foot speed drill that we used in the weight room, in his garage so he could improve and thats whats great about tom. No matter what adversity he faces or any challenges that come up, in a sense, he kind of thrives off it. And those closest to brady have no doubt hell thrve in his latest challenge. Win one more ring and set a new standard for greatness. Kirby its a bit surreal, but its really great to know that my high school quarterback, no one knew at that time, but we could have possibly been playing with the greatest quarterback of all time.
