Where bart service is suspended on the pittsburg bay point line after an out ofService Train derailed. It happened just west of the concord bart station last night at 630. And its still causing problems this morning. Kron fours mike pelton is live at the scene. Good morning mike. This is a the first that came off the track this morning, three of them are still on the track. The problem here is that these cars are blocking both directions of traffic many that there is no traffic between the Pleasant Hill station because theyre trying to remove the remaining cars from the track. You can see that they are tried to remove this and towing them out of here. Earlier this morning crews were a lifting the first of the cars in each of them weigh about 30 t. One official stated that there is damage to one of them and they will need to repair this was their mold. This all stems from an incident yesterday. Here is video from our helicopter partnership with abc 7 news. The operator tried to take it out of service with part of the first cara bart tells me that these cars derailed after tried to switch. Although the cost of the derailment is under investigation. The operator was not injured and no one else was on board. This is causing major delays. Again, there is no regular service between the stations have bart officials tell me that if you do rely all this you should start your driveway at the Pleasant Hill station. You can expect this to remain the case for some time because this will go way into the evening hours and at this point they have no estimated time with this will clear. So, at this point were not sure if it will be ready to go on monday . At this point, i spoke with bart and i wanted to know if they had an estimated time and they stated that there are a clear this point but it may go way into the evening hours so it is unclear whether that will get this repair by monday. We will stay on top of the store. The derailment caused extensive damage to the tracks and the electric again, bart says there will be no Train Service past Pleasant Hill in the pittsburg bay point direction. There will be normal service in the San Francisco linebart union atu 1555 claims the train operator followed procedure when the train derailed. Atus new president , chris finn, tweeted these messages the train operator remained calm, did exactly as he was exceptionally in an emergency situation. And the train operators Immediate Response saved him, the train, and the surrounding area from much worse damage. Finn recently took over as president from antonette bryant, who was a central figure during the bart labor dispute. When the train derailed last night, stunned residents from nearby homes could not they went to take a closer look at the train hanging over the tracks. Bart moved buses in. But it was not enough to handle the thousands of commuters that the trains can handle. People were on their way home. Many were confused, angry and upset because of long lines, closed bathrooms and a lack of information coming from bart employees. We had to wait an hour for a bus. People were fighting to get on the bus. There was no representative from bart telling people any information. No one knows what to do. Then, we finally get on the bus. Its been a three hour commute to get from one station to another. Buses are still serving the closed bart stations this bart did confirm that the train derailed in almost the same exact spot as another train derailed in march of 2011. Bart service has been cancelled past Pleasant Hill on the pittsburg bay point line. This after a train derailed at the concord bart station. It happened last night around 6 30. No passengers were on the train at the time. Crews are expected to work on repairs throughout the day today. Bart will be providing busses from the Pleasant Hill station serving concord, North Concord and pittsburg pay point stations. The chp released photos of the suspect vehicle. They say a person in water bottle throwing incidents that damaged several cars in Sonoma County. The suspect vehicle is described as a 2012 to 2014 white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. It has black aftermarket rims and an offroad package. A woman driving a school bus was injured last week when a water bottle thrown from a passing vehicle hit her windshield. Te chp says that was the fifth bottle throwing attack reported in the past week. These are the pictures of the smashed windshield on a Sonoma County school bus. There were no students on the bus at the time. But the driver was injured by flying glass. A water bottle might not seem like it can do much damage, but officers warn even small objects can do harm to a car. And possibly cause an accident. New this morning a los angeles airport worker was killed after he was hit by a luggagemoving cart. That he was driving. An airport spokeswoman says the man was driving on a service road on the airfield around 5 am friday when he either had a medical problem or lost control of the vehicle. Paramedics found the man unconscious and were unable to revive him. The Coroners Office identified the man as 51 yearold Cesar Valenzuela of los angeles. Authorities are investigating the incident. It did not affect flights. Also new this morning. San mateo county Sheriffs Office has arrested a man for robbing multiple banks. The identify Reginald Jones as the suspect in the robbery of chase bank in millbrae on january 10th. He is also accused of robbing a Burlingame Bank on february 14th. Police found evidence related to both Bank Robberies at jones home. Jones was booked for two counts of bank robbery. A man police call a dangerous fugitive sex offender has been captured. This is the new mug shot of kevin briggs. He was caught as a passenger in a van in portland, oregon. Portland k9 units and us marhsals say they were able to arrest him without incident. Briggs escaped from custody in montana on february first. The fbi said he was seen in the bay area last week. Authorities thought he may have been heading to mexico. Salinas police are on the look out for a suspect who they believe robbed two convenience stores. Then they say, he assaulted the store clerks. The first robbery happened early thursday morning just before 2 45, at the seven eleven on north main street. And the second robbery happened minutes later, at a quickstop store on williams road. Police say in both robberies the armed suspect leapt over the counter, ordered the clerk to open the register and after the clerk opened it, the suspect hit him in the head with the gun. Investigators think the same person committed both robberies based on the physical description, the method it was done and the proximity and time. Federal Officials Say california farmers will not get any help with water this year. The water would have come from rivers, canals, and resovoirs throughout the state. Last year, farmers only received twenty percent of what they normally get from federal sources. Friday they were told it would be zero. Water levels are still being monitored, but federal officials acknowledge. The levels are very low. This comes after Governor Brown announced new legislation earlier this week. His bill would funnel nearly 700Million Dollars to help local communites hit by the drought. Legislative leaders say, they can start releasing the money in two weeks. Marijuana advocates say the fact that the girls scouts of america is not condeming this, is proof that the stigma surrounding marijuana is going up in smoke. The mother of this 13year old scout, danielle, says they set up shop outside the green cross dispensary monday. And raked in the danielle sold 117 boxes in just two hours. Barts service is suspended on the pittsburgbay point line after in out of Service Train derailed. It happened just west of the copper birds station last night at 6 30 p. M. We will now join mike pelton who was live on the scene. This is a very slow process. The crews have grumbled to two of the trains that the road. Two of them are still remaining on the track. This was a 10 car train, crews have brought an a very large crate. They have been using this to take these off of the tracks. There are going to put them on a flat bed and told them. Bart officials said that there is damage to the track off the crews will have to prepare this was these are remote. Federal agencies are sending mixed messages when it comes to cell phones on planes. The Transportation Department said yesterday its thinking about keeping the ban on cell phones. The agency says it believes cell phone calls in flight may be harmful to others. This comes two months after the federal Communications Commission voted to move forward on allowing cell phone calls during flights.
