Still a lot of low clouds on the coast. Pretty solid there. But i think by this afternoon, it will be sunny to mostly sunny. Around the bay whats moved inland will burn off fast. Fog or clear. Not widespread. Sunny, mild to warm later on. Inland temperatures, any fog wont last. By 9 00 its usually out of there. 50s on the temperatures. 60. But 50 san rafael. 48 in novato. Most locations are in the 50s. Santa rosa, starting off with some fog but then i think it will be out of there pretty fast. Well go 72 and then that high of 80 degrees today. Temperatures have been held in check by an area of low pressure. Thats long gone. High pressure is now building in. So the fog really doesnt have a lot to last that much longer. Northbound 101 when you get to the peninsula looks good. A little bit of fog over there. Thats on the high rise. Northbound 101, sunnyvale, at mathilda avenue theres a report of a crash there. Hundreds of city workers in hayward have walked off the job for the start of a threeday strike. Ktvus Tara Moriarty joins us live to tell us what led up to todays walkout thats happening right there behind you. Good morning, tara. Reporter well, good morning. Thats right. In one hour replacement workers are supposed to slow up at city hall. Were not sure if there will be a confrontation. Striking workers are walking here at the picket line. Now, the library is just around the corner here. We noticed that someone was trying to get in a door there, and they were not letting him in. Members of local 1021 hit the picturette line after negotiations between the union and the city reached an impasse at the bargaining table. 280 workers are striking today outside of the citys animal control center, department of public works and libraries. They will do that for the next three days. Workers have been without a contract since april and without a raise since 2010. They game the city. The problem is, they are not being truthful to us about what is in the budget. I want to be clear were not here on an economic strike. Were here because theyve refused categorically to negotiate with us. Since february all theyve said we want 5 more million dollars. We have a 2. 6 million deficit in our budget. That doesnt include the unfunded for the retirement and basic needs. Just to pay for bank needs were in a deficit. That doesnt get us ahead in terms of funding or retirement obligations or fixing city streets. Reporter the city has filed state charges claiming this is an illegal strike. We have learned those who work in 911 dispatch will remain on the job during the strike. Workers didnt want to put anyones safety in jeopardy. They wanted to let the city know they mean business. Live from hayward, Tara Moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. And dozens of Domestic Workers are scheduled to rally outside of San Francisco city hall. Its part of the National Campaign, the Domestic Workers are calling countdown to dignity. Domestic workers across the country are calling on the u. S. Government to mandate better wages and benefit for inhome caregivers. The workers are also demanding regular rest periods and overtime pay. 7 05. A temporary fix for those bad bolts on the new bay bridge has been approved. So will the new bridge be open soon . Alex savidge is joining us live on Treasure Island to tell us about a plan that could make a labor day open a reality. Good morning, alex. Reporter good morning, dave. No decision has been made to move up the opening for the new bay bridge. But certainly a labor day opening is not out of question, especially now since the federal Highway Administration has okayed a plan to temporarily fix the broken bolts. The work can get underway to install shims to shore up stabilizers on the bridge. A letter sent to the oversight committee, the federal Highway Administration says it reviewed the temporary fix and determined the plan to provide adequate seismic safety until a permanent fix can be completed in december. This could bode well for an earlier opening. Back in early july, the Bridge Oversight Committee nixed a lanor day opening because of the faulty bolts and that was pushed back to december. Another opening day for labor day could be a reality. According to a published report, the chp began to sign up employees for around the cloud cover overtime shifts for lane hoar day. A spokesperson told me thats simply a formality because the agency has to be prepared to do Traffic Control if the bridge does, in fact, ohm. Meantime, later tonight, as you look live acthe new ac look live at the spann of the bay bridge, they will turn on the energy bolts and they will hold a public briefing. Today, the marin county coroner will perform and autopsy on a man from martinez who died on a hunting trip. He was with other hunters on saturday when a gun went off inside the car they were in. There are reports the gun fell from a rifle rack and went off. Funeral services are set for a 16yearold and his mother. The Funeral Service and memorial for the little boy is on friday. Services are open to the public. The mother of drew jackson is asking people dont wear the color black. The funeral for boys father, drew thomas, is one week from today. No arrests have been made. Today, Oakland Police are expected to announce whether a womans body found in vacaville last friday is a missing oakland woman. Sandra coke disappeared more than a week ago. She is an investigation with the federal defenders office. She was last seen with a man she had dated briefly 20 years ago hours before she disappeared. Police have Surveillance Video of randy alana putting gas in cokes car. He is the convicted rapist and robber required to wear a gps device as part of his parole. But two days after coke vanished, the state Corrections Department issued a warrant for his arrest for failing to participate in the gps monitoring system. Of the state is not saying when the gps stopped sending signals on his location. The man charged in this months deadly stabbing of a Hardware Store worker is due in court this afternoon. The victim, daniel stone, was starting his shift at the store nine days ago, when someone walked in and stabbed him 17 times. Damon agnew was later arrested for the killing. Investigators says hes a mentally unstable man who claimed he was on a mission from allah. Well, this morning, bay area hospitals are being warned about a woman pretending to be a nurse. Deputies say 29yearold crystal cook was wearing scrubs and a stethoscope when arrested at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in san jose. She even had a fake i. D. Hospital Officials Say cook would not have been able to get into critical areas like the emergency room because her badge was not a real key card. Patients are calling for better security. Im very worried because, you know, anything somebody could happen to a patient. And its gonna be under her responsibility and they dont know what she did or did not do. Deputies have not said why cook was impersonating a nurse but say her facebook postings led to her arrest. They say she has no medical background and theres no immediate evidence she actually treated any patients. She has been released from custody. The driver of a party van involved in a deadly crash on the peninsula sunday night is facing criminal charges. Officials say jason kinonez was driving the van that went off the road on 280 near portolo valley and slammed into a tree. He was booked into jail on suspicion of felony hit and run, dui and manslaughter. One of the passengers was killed in that crash. 7 11. A new study says concerns about College Students hooking up may be overblown. The university of portland researchers say casual sex on campus has not increased in decades. Governor brown has signed the nations first law that protects transgender students at school. The new law allows transgender students to use restrooms, locker rooms or even join sports teams based on the gender they identify with. Supporters say the law will help transgender students who are bullied and make sure they get equal treatment at school. Rather than singling out kids specifically who are transgender identified, this is a way for them to feel like they are just like their peers. They are treated exactly the same way. The law affects kindergarten through 12th grade and will take effect january 1st. 7 15. Another setback for president obamas healthcare law this morning. The administration has delayed a mandate that protects consumers by limiting how much they have to spend on their own healthcare. As Kyla Campbell reports from our washington, d. C. Newsroom, republicans who are fighting the law are happy about this. Kyla . Reporter dave, many republicans will use this as a discreditty law. The cap was going to be 6300 for an individual and just under 13,000 for a family. But the New York Times reports the Obama Administration is delaying the mandate for a year until january of 2015. That means some insurers can set higher limits at all or no limits at all. The New York Times says this delay has been outlined on a government website since february. But it went unnoticed by the legal language. Health Plan Sponsors need to upgrade computer systems. Congress might be on resers this month. But on recess this month. Mosquitoes infected with west nile virus, theyve been found in parts of san jose. So Santa Clara County officials plan to fog that area thursday. Now, the fogging area is bordered by berryessa road, East San Antonio street as well as north and South Jackson street. In the meantime, a Santa Clara County woman is recovering after becoming the first person in the county to test positive for west nile virus this summer. There have been 14 confirmed human cases around the state so far this year. Two of the cases were fatal. 7 20. A 10yearold martinez boy, seriously injured in a pit bull attack. Researchers at Duke University studied the records of more than 600,000 children and found that boys born to mothers with both medically induced and accelerated labor were 35 more likely to be diagnosed autistic. That study appeared online in the American Association journal pediatrics. Researchers are cautioning this study is preliminary and say doctors should not delay giving labor induced medication which may be a lifesaving case. Well, cal football Avery Sebastian, recovering from a very hard tackle on the football field that led to him being carried away from practice in an ambulance. It happened yesterday. At an appearance in San Francisco, u. S. Attorney general eric holder proposed major changes in the sentences given to people convicted of minor drug offenses. Speaking at a meeting of the american Bar Association, holder proposed scaling back mandatory minimum sentences for lowlevel, nonviolent drug offense es. He says his proposal would ease prison overcrowding and hopes it would also address Racial Disparities in prison. Some of the enforcement priorities weve had have had a destabilizing effect on particular communities, largely poor and of color and applied inappropriately, they are ultimately counterproductive. He also called for new policies enabling sick or elderly inmates without a violent past to be releasedder early. Former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton made an appearance at the Bar Association meeting in San Francisco. She received a distinguished Service Award for her work as an attorney. Part of a former employees lawsuit against paula deen is being thrown out. Deens former employee, lisa jackson, claims Racial Discrimination, sexual harassment, and abusive treatment. A judge ruled that jackson cant claim to be a victim of Racial Discrimination because shes white but the other parts of her lawsuit, they still stand. This morning, police in palo alto are warning drivers about a rash of smashandgrab car burglaries. Palo alto police say theyve see responded to 70 car break ins, almost 50 occurred in the month of june. Many breakins have been in the el camino area and near the sanford shopping center. Police say drivers of rental cars should be especially careful. They say burglars often target those cars because people are more likely to leave valuables inside. The red cross is helping 25 people out of their homes hafer an earlymorning Apartment Fire in santa rosa. The fire started at 1 00 a. M. At the marlow apartments. It took an hour to put it out. Three apartments had heavy damage. Several others had minor damage. No one was hurt. Its confirmed. A womans body found saturday in sequoia park is that of a san rafael woman. 65yearold Johnny Jean Daniel disappeared last week during ak during last week. A 4th grader attacked by a pit bull is due to have more surgery later today. 10yearold hunter kilborn of martinez is recovering from major injuries suffered in the attack. The little boy was visiting Family Friends in antioch sunday morning when a pit bull got into the house, jumped on him and repeatedly bit his cheek, heads and arms. Doctors had to reattach his ear. The little boys mother is little angry. Thats negligence knowing its a vicious dog and you dont do anything about it. The pit bull was taken away by animal control officers. It will be quarantined for at least a week. The little boys mother is determined to make sure that dog is put down. The father of a 12yearold boy accused of killing his 8 yearold sister says he does not believe his son committed the crime. I turned isaiah in. Most people dont know that. That was hard enough. The 12yearold has pled not guilty to charges he stabbed his sister, leila, to death at their Calaveras County home. Police say the boy tried to blame the death on an intruder and that caused a panic in the town of valley springs. Fowlerrary says he does not fowler says he does not know how leila was killed but does not believe his son is responsible. At the beginning we were cooperating, doing all of the interviews, we met them every time they wanted us to. We would stop what we were doing and talk to them. And then they no longer talked to us when isaiah became a suspect. Protesters who have camped outside of the Historic Post Office in berkeley are getting good news. Its been given a reprieve but it may be brief. Brian flores has more. Reporter theyve been camped out here since late last month. They say the news that the building will be spared for right now is definitely good news. They say its a small victory but they are not exactly celebrating just yet. Many got notices last week. They handed out notices that they would have to leave or possibly be arrested. Well, the group stayed. Now they are hearing that the Historic Post Office is being spared for now. Late last week, the u. S. Postal Regulatory Commission agreed to hear tom beats bates. The plan was to sell the building and then rent space for Postal Services but the building thats been here since 1914 will be spared a few months until the mayor speaks in front of the commission in september or october. Some members of the group say they are happy but still skeptical. The people of berkeley, the community, and this is what we want. This is we want this here. This is all we got. Reporter after the hearing, the commission would have 120 days to grant or deny the appeal. All right, brian. 7 37. A 17yearold who survived a san jose car crash saturday night that killed two of his best friends, hes talking now about what caused the accident. I grew up with them. It wont be the same. Paul lopez says he believes the driver of the car may have swerved to avoid a second car before losing control and slamming into a tree. Police believe it was a single car crash and say the driver was speeding and under the influence. Lopez admits they had been drinking. Dont drink and drive because you never know what can happen. Lopez has a broken leg. Hes expected to survive. Two other people in the car were critically hurt but the driver and another passenger were killed. 7 38. A wildfire clouding much of Placer County with smoke has spread to 1200 acres now and its still burning. The american fire started on saturday near forest hill. Its grown 400 acres since this time yesterday. Smoke from the fire will be settling in forest hill, auburn, nevada city and the surrounding valley for the next few days. The fire is burning in very steep terrain and is being fought mainly by aircraft. Two large wildfires are burning right now in central idaho. The elk complex fire near pine, idaho has charred more than 90,000 acres. So far, its just 5 contained. There are mandatory evacuations, but some people are still refusing to leave. Further south, the fire spans 144,000 acres and is 30 contained. Fire Officials Say lightning started both fires last thursday. A camp host from richmond has died after falling over a 100foot waterfall in the sierra. It happened saturday near the farm Meadow Campground in madera county. Daniel greenlaw was directing a group of sierra vacationers to a swimming hall when he slipped on rocks and fell over the waterfall to his death. A search team found his body on sunday. East palo alto residents, you will soon have to find a new place to park. The Palo Alto City Council banned overnight parking in parts of the Crescent Park neighborhood for one year. Neighbors say that ban is needed because people who live in East Palo Alto are using their streets for parking. Enforcement is expected to start next month after signs about the ban have gone up. A bay area state senator wants to crack down on doctors who they say wreck alsoley prescribe oxy contain. One senator is demanding the names of california doctors who prescribe that painkiller to drug dealers and drug addicts. He and other Southern California state senators says the drugmaker has a list of 1800 doctors around the country who show signs of dangerous prescribing. Reporter the medical Examiners Office has identified that fan as 29year old ronald holmer. Police say are saying are saying theres no indication of foul play. A baseball fan dies not long after a fall from turner field. He fell from an upper platform to a secured lot. The fall was approximately 65 feet. Reporter Police Believe the man fell from a balcony such as this one behind the field where the braveses and phillies were in a nearly twohour rain delay. Police say its too early to tell if alcohol played a factor in what they say appears to be an accident. Im not sure who was here. There are several witnesses. Reporter Atlanta Police say the man landed in a secure parking area. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died. A similar death happened during a College Football game last year at the georgia dome, home to the atlanta falcons. On august 31st, a 20yearold Tennessee Volunteers fan fell 35 feet and died. Mondays death is not the first for Major League Baseball. In 2011, a Texas Rangers fans fell 20 feet going over the balcony trying to catch a ball tossed to him by josh hamilton. They tell me they have a suspect in custody. Hes the one that pointed them to this location. The apartment complex behind me on 45 newwell road. They tell me that theres a female homicide victim but they cant tell me how she died. They arrived here around 6 00 a. M. And again, the details of this are still a little hazy. They are talking to neighbors right now at this point. Its unclear to us whether or not neighbors called 911, if the suspect contacted police or how they came in contact with him. But we have been told that hes the one that pointed police to an Apartment Unit where there was a female homicide victim inside. Now, at this point, they are waiting for the coroner. Im told that the departments Public Information officer will be on around 8 00. So we hope to learn more details at that pint at this point. But again, one suspect in custody and a female homicide. A 16yearold girl whose kidnapping triggered a multi state amber alert is recovering with her family in san diego. Investigators say Hannah Anderson did not know her mother and 8yearold brother had been killed by the family friend accused of abducting her. Anderson father says she has a long recovery ahead but is grateful for the outpouring of support. For my daughter, the healing process will be slow. Shes been through a tremendous, horrific ordeal. Officials also say James Dimaggio fired one shot from a rifle before he was killed by fbi gunfire in the idaho wilderness. Investigators believe dimaggio may have been infatuated with anderson. Investigators are looking into a possible connection between andersons abduction and an incident involving dimaggios father. A woman claims dimaggios father broke into her house and tried to kill her and her family years ago when she refused to date him. She says she was a teenager at the time and that dimaggios father had also dated her mother. Asked him to please not kill us. He said dont worry. It will be over quick. I just remember pleading with him. In another bizarre terrorist in this case, this saturday, James Dimaggio was killed by fbi agents, that is what the 18th anniversary of the day his father took his own life, and dimaggio also set his home on fire on the anniversary of his mothers death from cancer. 7 55. A boston mobster captured in california will probably spend the rest of his life in prison. James Whitey Bulger was found guilty on 31 out of 32 counts against him. 11 involved murder bulger is planning an appeal, saying he should have been allowed to claim immunity for his crimes. The sentencing is set for november 13th. A man from kansas has revealed his pen pal is one of the most notorious killers in history. Bob george says he gets better from Charles Manson every other week. George says he first started getting letters from manson 16 years ago, when george was a teacher at dodd city high school. Manson wrote a better to him saying he was willing to help teach his students about the psychology of cults. Im always trying to figure out what makes these guys tick. Low to mid70s around the bay. Inland will take the biggest jump. It will end up in the upper 80s for some. Near 90 for some. Upper 80s to near 90, far enough inland. Were looking at highway 4, we have some stopandgo traffic here coming up to pittsburg. But thats improved as well. As we move over to 80 between vallejo and richmond, that traffic has evened out. Its smooth until you get to the el cerrito area. Back to the desk. All right, sal. This morning, hundreds of city workers in hayward walked off the job starting a three day strike. Ktvus Tara Moriarty, joining us live to tell us whats happening now two hours after the strike started. Reporter replacement workers just started to show up. You can see they are picketing right here. Theyve asked folks not to go inside city hall but they have. Just a few minutes ago, we noticed a replacement worker pull up in a white van, workers were yelling at her. Members of 2010 decided to hit the picket line after negotiations between the union and the city reached an impasse at the bargaining table. 280 workers are striking for the next three days outside of the animal control center, the department of public works and libraries. Workers have been without a contract since april and without a raise since 2010. They blame the city. The city says it is 2. 6 million in the red. But union Officials Say the city underprojected the budget by 5 million this year alone and is taking the money out of the general fund and putting it into other funds. Sort of like if we were balancing our check books but we were taking out out money to put in the savings and saying were in the red. Thats exactly what the city is doing to have the excuse to push us out on strikes. The city has been fair and reasonable. Many groups have met our requirements, including our firefighters. Weve asked that all groups forgo races for five years. Reporter meanwhile, the city has filed state charges claiming this is an illegal strike. Those working in 911 dispatch will remain on the job. Live from hayward, im Tara Moriarty, ktvu channel 2 news. All right, tara. In about an hour from now, dozens of Domestic Workers are scheduled to rally outside of San Francisco city hall. This is part of a National Campaign that Domestic Workers are calling countdown to dignity. Domestic workers nationwide are calling on the u. S. Government to mandate better pay and benefits for inhome caregivers. Domestic workers want regular rest periods and they want overtime pay. Now that theyve approved a temporary fix for the new span of the bay bridge, federal Officials Say theres no reason not to open it by labor day. Alex savidge is live to tell us about the fix that could help the span open in gosh, in just 20 days. Reporter just three weeks from now, we could be back on track for the labor day opening. The opening delayed because cracks were found in the seismic safety bolts. Now the feds are saying they support the idea of opening the new span early while a temporary fix is put in place. The plan is to install metal plates that can shore up stabilizers in the bridge. In the letter sent to the chair oversight committee, the federal Highway Administration says this fix would provide add quit size mike service until a permanent fix in december. The opening pushed back to at least december after the faulty bolts. Now theres another sign that labor day could be a reality. According to a report out, the chp began to sign up employees for around the cloud cover oversim shifts for around the clock overtime shifts. I was told thats simply a formality. Caltrans will be testing new l. E. D. Lights on the eastern span of the bay bridge. Before that happens, they will hold a media briefing. Officials will be talking about how this green light from the feds to go ahead with the temperature fix on the bolts could impact opening day. Police say several people saw 21yearold bryan cavanah hold that dog underwater yesterday morning. Hes accused of carrying the dog to the pond in fairfield. Investigators say he admitted killing the pit bull terrier mix. It belonged to his father. He didnt know why he did it. Hes being held without bail. A Good Samaritan has helped a dog recover from a deer attack. Now, this is a yellow lab. His name, casper. Partially paralyzed in that deer attack. The owner sent us this video of the pool therapy he says helped casper recover. By the way, hes thanking the woman who allowed casper to use her pool. This morning, bay area hospitals are being warned about a woman pretending to be a nurse. Deputies say 29yearold crystal cook was wearing scrubs and a stethoscope when arrested at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in san jose. She even had a fake i. D. Hospital Officials Say cook would not have been able to access critical areas like the emergency room because her badge was not a real key card. But patients are calling for better security. One of her claims on facebook that she was part of a pediatric heart transplant procedure which is totally made up. We dont do them here. Deputies have not said why cook was impersonating a nurse but say her took postings led to her arrest. She has no medical background and theres no immediate evidence she treated parts. Shes been release patients. Shes been released from jail. The drunk driver accused of killing a girl on her 17year old birth is due back in court. Kieran brewer faces charges for the deadly accident in stern grove in march. Investigators say brewer was behind the wheel of the car that struck and killed the teen. His lawyer said his blood alcohol level was barely above the legal limit when booked into custody. However, prosecutors note the testing was done several hours after the deadly crash. And new this morning a tomato truck flipped over, causing this rather slippery situation for drivers. It happened just before 3 00 a. M. On southbound i80. At a major ecstasy bust in the ingleside district. Two people are in custody. That bust involves several kilos of the drug. San franciscos Public Utilities commission, due to vote today on the citys Renewable Energy rates. Clean power sf was supposed to launch in october. Residents of San Francisco would be rolled into that program but they could opt out in they want. Originally customers would have paid about twice what they currently pay pg e. City leaders wanted to reduce what customers would pay so the vote has been delayed several times. Neighbors opposed to a proposed apartment complex in la fayette spoke out at a city council meeting. We believe this huge project is wrong. Plans for the terraces of la fayette call for 300 luxury apartments to be built across from a high school. Developers say the apartments will provide needed options for renters in la fayette. But neighbors say the project is too big and would worsen traffic in that already busy area. If youre asking me if i would like to see a big, monstrous apartment big over there, the answer is no. An environmental report echos neighbors concerns. A band had their van stolen in the berkeley hills, well, they plan to head back to their home state of michigan in a new van paid for by donations from our viewers. New york city mayor Michael Bloomberg promising to appeal a judges ruling that the nypd stop and frisk policy is unconstitutional. Under the policy, police can stop, question, and frisk anyone they consider suspicious. The judge called it indirect racial profiling because most of those targeted by police are africanamerican and latino men. We go to where the reports of crime are. Those happen to be poor neighborhoods and minority neighborhoods. The judge also ordered police in some of the prestings to wear body cameras to record what they do. Stop and frisk, by the way, was also being considered by the Oakland Police department. President obamas healthcare law faces another setback this morning, and you could end up paying the price. Reporter tori, this mandate is supposed to protect consumers by limiting how much they spend on their own healthcare. The cap for what patients pay for deductibles and copayments was going to be about 6300 for individuals and 12,700 for families. The Obama Administration is delaying the mandate so health Plan Sponsors can update systems to better track patients out of the pocket costs. That mean some insurerser can set higher limits or no limits at all to what the Obama Administration pays next year. Businesses that employ 50 or more fulltime workers wont face penalties for not providing coverage until january 15th of next year. Marco rubio encouraged followers on twitter to sign a petition to defund this disaster. Combine the two mandates and next year could be an expensive one for patients. Asiana Airlines Says its not responsible for last months plane crash in San Francisco that led to the deaths of three teenagers. The san jose news reports the airline denied it in a filing in u. S. District court in San Francisco. The paper says asiana also claims passengers contributed to their own injuries. The airline says it will pay 10,000 compensation to each of the crash survivors. The court filing is in response to two lawsuits filed by a burlingame lawyer on behalf of some of the passengers. Jetblue is offering to make picking up your luggage when you travel a little easier. Jetblue will deliver your luggage from the airport to your home or hotel as long as its within 40 miles of the airport. Now the Service Costs 25 for one bag. A homicide that occurred this morning and more investigators are arriving at that scene now. Katie utehs is at the scene to tell us what is the latest. What do you know, katie . Reporter well, dave, within the last hour, weve seen many more detectives arrive on scene. They are still being quite mumm about what happened here. Weve confirmed its one female excuse me, one female suspect and male suspect who police say pointed them here to this apartment complex behind me in East Palo Alto at the Woodland Park apartments, is the name of that complex. Let me show you video of detectives that we shot earlier that are here on scene. They tell us they learned of this homicide sometime around 6 00 a. M. At this point, its unclear how the woman was killed and how long she had been dead. They do tell us that the suspect they have in custody, that male suspect, pointed them to the apartment complex, and they are still waiting for the coroner to arrive. At this point, the forensic lab techs have arrived. They are processing the scene. Were also told that detectives are interviewing neighbors who are being cooperative. Its unclear how police were notified whether it was neighbors or by the suspect who called 911. Within the last few minutes, it appears that family members may have arrived there. There are people here on scene that are hugging each other. Theres some tears as well. So, still working to learn more about who this female victim is. We do know the homicide eye cured this morning. Police found out about it at 6 00. The Public Information officer is being called and shell be able to give us more details. Live in East Palo Alto, katie utehs, ktvu channel 2 news. Well, Palo Alto Police are warning drivers about a rash of smashandgrab car burglaries. Palo alto Police Responded to 70 car breakins this summer. Almost 50 happened in the month of june. Many of the breakins have been in the el camino area and the stanford shopping center. Police say drivers of rental cars should be especially careful because vandals know those drivers leave valuables inside. A 28yearold butcher working at a market in san anselmo had his right forearm amputated in an accident at work. Firefighters say the man was conscious when they arrived about 5 30 yesterday morning afternoon. He was flown to Stanford University Medical Center. Its not clear yet exactly what happened and the accident is being investigated. A fourth grader attacked by a pit bull is scheduled to undergo another operation today. 10yearold hunter kilborn of martinez is recovering from major injuries he suffered in the attack. The little boy was visiting family, friends in antioch sunday morning, when the pit bull got into the house. The dog then jumped on him and repeatedly bit his cheek, head and arms. Surgeons had to reattach his ear. Knowing hes gonna have to have many surgery, skin graphs, its its just a shame. My heart you breaks for him my heart breaks for him. I told him i love him and to be strong. He was still in shock. Its still not clear who owns the dog. The pit bull has been taken in by animal control officers and will remain quarantined for at least a week. The little boys mom said she will do Everything Possible to make sure that dog is euthanized. Oakland police are expected to announce today if a womans body found last friday in vacaville is of that missing oakland woman, sandra coke. Coke disappeared more than a week ago. Shes an investigator with the federal defenders office, and she was last seen with the man she dated briefly 20 years ago hours before she disappeared. Now, police have Surveillance Video of randy alana putting gas in kochs car. Hes a convicted rapist and robber who is required to wear a gps device as part of his parole. Two weeks after she vanished, an arrest warrant was issued for him for failing to participate in the gps monitoring program. The state is not saying when the gps stopped sending signals on his location. The man charged in the deadly stabbing of a hardware worker is due in court this afternoon. The victim, daniel stone, was just starting his shift at the store nine days ago when someone walked in and stabbed him 17 times. Agnew was arrested for the killing. They say he was mentally unstable who claimed he was on a mission from allah. Funeral services are set for a fatherrant his 16month old son. They were shot to death in an oakland home last week. The memorial and Funeral Service for the little boy is on friday. Services are open to the public. The boys mother, the mother of drew jackson, ask asking people dont wear is asking people dont wear the color black. Drew thomass funeral is scheduled one week from today. No arrests have been made in the killings. Protesters who have camped outside of the historic Berkeley Post Office are getting good news. Many people with the Group Citizens to save the Berkeley Post Office received good news recently and have been camped out since last month. The news that the Historic Building will be spared comes as good news for many. Its a small victory, there say. But they are they say. But they are not celebrating. The news is theyve agreed to hear tom batess appeal that it should be saved. With the hear, the building thats been here since 1914 will at peest be spared for a couple of months until the mayor speaks in front of the commission in september or october. The chronicle reports that he has until september 3rd to submit paperwork about why this is the best location to operate. The issue has always been cutting costs and selling post offices, even this one, are needed to keep the post office afloat. The group says the post office means a lot and keeping it here is still a battle. Its great to have a Central Post Office and not to have to travel by car to another distant location. I use the post office a lot. I mail packages to family. Im still an oldfashioned letterwriter. We should not change it. Why change it . Whats the problem . They are using planes mainly to fight it. Two large wildfires are burning in central idaho. The elk complex fire near pine, idaho has burned more than 90,000 acres. Its only 5 contained. There are mandatory evacuations out there but some people are refusing to leave. The further south, the pony complex fire, covers 144,000 acres. Its only 30 contained. We only noticed one man honor the request. Reese place replacement workers have been driving up this morning and have been greeted by very angry protest es. Members of local 1021 decided to walk out after negotiations hit an impasse at the table. 280 workers are striking for the next three days outside of the citys animal control center, the department of public works and libraries. Workers have been without a contract since april and without a raise since 2010. They blame the city. We cant give any more. Its too expensive. You know, i i got a kid going to college. How am i supposed to do that . Im a single mother. A lot of us are, you know, so its at at a certain point you have to say enough is enough. We have a 2. 6 million deficit in our operating budget. But that doesnt include the unfunded lie ill for the retirement or any of our infrastructure needs. As we look at 101 here, it looks good. 580 is a little bit more even between livermore and dublin. Its moderately heavy. If you are driving to the bay bridge toll plaza, thats cleared out westbound. Lets go to steve. We have breaks in the fog. Low pressure coming in. The basis which were way up there for a while, about 2500 feet now coming down a thousand. Already pockets of sun in San Francisco. Reports coming in. We havent seen the sun for a while. Temperatures will warm lets go for it. Today well go for it and say well get it officially. American airlines is trading at 3 a share. I want to look at u. S. Airways down 2 a share, at about 17. American airlines has been in bankruptcy protection. The merger with u. S.
