She joins us live to tell us how traffic is doing now. Katie . Reporter sal, traffic is flowing smoothly. Chp cleared the scene. It happened about five minutes ago. Theres still flare deprein the roadway debris in the roadway. Officers blocked the onram to 87 following the deadly crash that happened shortly before 5 00. Investigators confirm for us in their most recent update that at least two cars hit a 26year old man killing him on the roadway. The driver of a White Toyota Corolla hit the man in the number one lane of the southbound 87 onramp coming from northbound 280. A second car struck the man and a third likely hit the other vehicles. All of the other drivers stayed on scene. Officers are trying to determine why the man was crossing a dark roadway. We dont believe him to be homeless based on his appearance which opens up why was he here. There were no vehicles in the area. Possibly the thinking was maybe he broke down and was walking home. But at this time, there are no vehicles all the way back to 101. Reporter the ramp closure caused the traffic snarl on northbound 280 for quite a while. It was closed for two hours. Thank you. A crash killed a man early this morning near the Antioch Police station. The impact ripped the roof off the front of the suv. Police say the victim was a 30 31yearold man from antioch who slammed into a dark semitrailer around 2 15 this morning. The investigation is continuing into the crash with officers saying its too early to tell if alcohol was a factor. There is new information into the disappearance and death of a patient at San Francisco general. Ktvu has learned about new fallout from the case. Weve learn thood a sergeant and that a sergeant and two senior deputies will be transferred out of San Francisco General Hospital in two weeks. Six people from the department will be transferred in. Weve learned that a dispatcher has already been transferred, someone connected to the Lynne Spalding case. If we take a look at the video, you can tell this is all fallout from the Lynne Spalding case. A woman being treated at San Francisco general in september whose bodzdy was found in a hospital stairwell 17 days after she went missing, the woman disappeared september 21st. It wasnt until nine days later a search was done. Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi admitted that only staff of the stairwells were searched. He says october 4th someone called to report a dead body in the stairwell. Dispatch says well take care of it but that didnt happen. It wasnt until four days later that spauldings body was discovered. Now, according to doctors, she was close to being discharged. So deputies had no reason to consider her at risk. One policy change the sheriff has already implicated. Any time a patient goes missing. A full search of the campus will be done. Happening now in san jose, families are lining up to register for the sacred heart Holiday Program which gives away free food for families and toys for children. Theyve been lining up since yesterday afternoon. A lot of families slept outside overnight just to be able to sign up. We talked to a woman. Shes been in line since 3 30 this morning. She says this program will help feed her family for thanksgiving. I know not a lot of people have the time or, you know, want to come out early. But its a good thing that they are doing and that were really thankful for that. The program will help about 4,000 families this year. The registration starts at 9 00 this morning. Food banks in San Francisco and marin, they are bracing for another increase in demand for food after the reduction in federal funding for food stamps. At the beginning of the month, homes receiving food from the program saw a monthly reduction of 36 for a family of four. There are about 5400 marin families getting food stamps, up from 2012. The food bank is about 1800 turkeys short for the upcoming holiday food drive. A family in blackhawk has decided they are gonna sue their Homeowners Association after their kids were kept from trick or treating and playing outside the tennis villas. They say it violates state and housing laws. The family also says when they talk to the president of the Homeowners Association, they were told some people were upset because the family is of mixed race. A fairfield man is behind bars in connection with a deadly shooting outside of Kaiser Hospital in vacaville earlier this week. Police say 31yearold german lopez, a former Fairfield City Council candidate, turned himself in early wednesday. Police say hes accused of fatally shooting his half brother, 24yearold xavier lopez. Xavier was also allegedly a suspect in a shooting that took place less than an hour earlier in fairfield. A man accused of kidnapping his 2weekold son in sunnyvale and taking the baby to mexico could soon be extradited back to the bay area. Henry guler romero was reported missing by his mother tuesday night and an amber alert was issued. His father, 22yearold mesut guler, was arrested the next day after crossing the border into mexico. He has since been transferred to an arizona jail. Santa clara county prosecutors are working to have guler extradited to face felony kidnapping and child abduction charges. I mean, the people who donate have a right to know they are donating to a Tax Exempt Charity that is doing something with their money to save animals. Back to the desk. Openly on 2, the latest fallout from the case of a patient who disappeared from San Francisco General Hospital only to later turn up dead. Tara moriarty is at the hospital with the security shakeup thats coming later this month. Good morning, tara. Reporter well, good morning. A sergeant and two senior deputies were told will be transferring out of San Francisco General Hospital and weve just learned that that sergeant is not a sworn deputy, that hes a civilian hired as private security by the hospital years ago. So that means hes not undergone the same type of training that others in the Sheriffs Department have. Six people will be transferred into San Francisco General Hospital. One dispatcher has already been transferred out. This is the result of fallout from the Lynne Spalding case. This was the woman who was being treated at San Francisco General Hospital in september. Her body was found in a hospital stairwell 17 days after she went missing. The woman disappeared september 21st. It wasnt until nine days later, a search was done. In a press conference. Mirkarimi said october 4th, someone called to report a dead body in the stairwell. Dispatch said well take care of it. That didnt happen. It wasnt until four days later, her body was discovered during a routine grounds check. She was close to being discharged. So deputies had no reason to consider her at risk. One policy change the sheriff has already implicated, any time a patient goes missing, a full search of the campus will be done. Im told more changes are to come. In san jose, the 280 connector ramp to southbound highway 87 is back hope after a deadly pedestrian crash. The chp says a 26yearold man was hit and killed shortly after 5 00 this morning. The connector ramp reopened within the past hour. Investigators are still trying to figure out why the man was on the roadway. 8 04. In about an hour from right now, families in san jose will be able to sign up for a special Holiday Program that gives free food to families and toys to kids. Katie utehs live in san jose now. A family in blackhawk has decided to sue their Homeowners Association after their kids were kept from trick or treating or playing outside the tennis villas. A strange string of violence has landed a former City Council Candidate in fairfield in jail in connection with a deadly shooting outside of Kaiser Hospital in vacaville earlier this week. According to doctors, spaulding was close to being discharged. Deputies say they had no reason to consider her at risk.
