Ktvu channel 2 reporter katie utehs is live with why police are asking people who are at the wiz khalifa concert to give them a call. Reporter good morning, claudine. Police are still coming and going here at the shoreline amphitheater. First they want to find the shooter. Second, they want to find out how someone was able to get a gun back stage at the concert. Let me show you video we found on youtube of wiz khalifa. Hes playing shoreline last year to a packed crowd in this video. Last night was also a capacity crowd of some 22,000 fans, according to the mercury news. Weve learned the shooting happened around 11 00 back stage. At this point, police have released few details, but they quickly locked down the scene. He was transferred to a local hospital. Reporter witnesses described the weapon as a black handgun with a large clip, but police say they still need more witnesses to come forward as they piece this together. They would like any pictures of the back stage area as well. As we said, detectives are still on scene this morning. We do have a call in to police to find out the latest on that shooting victim. Also new this morning, all lanes of southbound 880 in oakland are back open after a deadly crash involving a motorcycle. It happened just after 3 15 near the haagen burger road off ramp. The motorcyclist lost control of the bike and hit the center divide. Officers say he was thrown from the bike and landed in one of the lanes that was then struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with officers. Happening today, a Memorial Service will be held for a sebastopol man who fell to his death just hours after he proposed to his girlfriend. Park rangers say parker was climbing alone last saturday and was not using ropes when he fell. His friends plan to honor him with a panelout event at the mouth of the Russian River at 9 00 this morning in jenner followed by a celebration of life ceremony at ives park in sebastopol. An organization that helps people with Developmental Disabilities suffered a loss when fire destroyed a truck filled with donations at the Hope Services center in santa clara. Three trucks full of items were burned. Smoke from the fire could be seen from several san jose freeways, including highway 101 and interstate 880. The threealarm fire broke out at 3 30 yesterday afternoon at the alco metal and iron company. Several piles of recycled metal caught fire, including washers, dryers and propane water heaters. Hazmat teams were called in because of concerns of Hazardous Materials and chemicals. Residents in the northern part of the city were ordered to shelter in place. Firefighters battled a fire near the metal plant two weeks ago. New developments in the case involving a man who died in an Apartment Fire in oakland back in march. Authorities now say that man may have killed his aunt in the same home a month earlier. The body of 56yearold richard fang was discovered on march 1st at an apartment complex on 34th avenue. Now, police say their investigation determined that fang set himself on fire. His aunt, 77yearold susan fong, was found dead at the apartment on february 7th. Authorities originally suspected she died during a Home Invasion robbery, but they now suspect that it was fang who killed her. A middle School Teacher in danville has been arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography. 58yearold Mitchell Wolf was arrested at his home yesterday morning. The family of a San Francisco man killed in an officer involved shooting filed a lawsuit. They claim the police use Excessive Force when he shot Alejandro Nieto in march. Application say officers were responding to 911 calls about a man with a gun and opened fire after they say nieto aimed a taser at them. But nietos family says he carried a taser for his job at a Security Guard and deny he pointed it at police. We know the truth. Alejandro nieto never pointed any taser. That is a flatout lie. More than 100 people marched to the federal courthouse in San Francisco for the filing of the lawsuit. Nieto family is calling for a federal investigation into the shooting. The District Attorneys Office says it is waiting on a medical examiners report before commenting on the investigation. Lawyers for the accused Boston Marathon bomber are asking a federal judge to dismiss the indictment citing conflict over jury selection. This is an Ongoing Investigation and we will definitely try and determine how that individual was able to bring a firearm into shoreline. Reporter witnesses described the weapon as a black handgun with a large clip. The witness descriptions of the suspect were rather vague, but police say they still need more witnesses to come forward. Several piles of recycled metal caught fire, including washers, dryers and propane water heaters. Hazmat teams had to be called in because of concerns about hazardous chemicals and residents in the northern part of that city were ordered to shelter in place. Police determined their investigation determined that fang set himself on fire. His aunt, 77yearold susan fong, was found dead at the apartment on february 7th. Right now, officials estimate there could be 2500 ebola cases in west africa. 1300 people have died. A San Francisco startup is joining in the search to find a cure for ebola. The chronicle reports that the company onco synergy is looking into whether its experimental cancer drug can fight the ebola virus. Onco synergy was founded in 2011 and does have ties to ucsf. It is raising funds to test whether the drug can block ebola from infecting human cells. Some doctors are skeptical, calling the drugs chances against the virus a long shot. San jose mayor chuck reid and officials from the department of justice are talking about ways to combat Gang Violence in that city. Federal officials have been visiting programs in san jose to see how the city is working to prevent and intervene with using Gang Violence. They met with the mayor yesterday as part of the National Forum on Youth Violence protection and prevention. San jose is one of nine cities participating in the forum. Hackers may have accessed the records of as many as 25,000 employees of the Homeland Security department. Officials say the records were exposed after someone tapped into a computer used by a federal contractor that uses security clearances. The department has contacted employees who are affected by the breach. Private contractors perform background checks on more than twothirds of government workers with security clearances. And more than a thousand retailers have also been warned that hackers could be stealing Customer Data from Cash Register computers. The government is asking businesses to scan their point of sale systems for Malicious Software known as backoff. The warning comes after ups announced that computers in 51 of its stores were infected with the backoff virus. Malware was found in two stores in the bay area, including the ups on crescent drive in Pleasant Hill and the West Campbell avenue store in campbell. A bakersfield man says for just 50, he bought a document with president abraham lincolns signature. He says the document is worth tens of thousands of dollars. Cameron gephardt owns the gold and Silver Trading Company and he says he never knows what sort of items will come into his store. He says he was stunned when a man walked into the store last month holding a piece of paper that he claimed was signed by president lincoln. I took a gamble on it. I really did. And i bought it and i thought, you know, if it isnt real, it might look all right just hanging on the wall. Gephardt believes the document is real and is worth between 20 and 50,000 at auction. He plans on displaying it in his store, but also says he would be willing to sell it at the right price. Deploying to the middle east, the possible role u. S. Well, we are following developing news of a deadly shooting at the shoreline amphitheater. It happened back stage during a rap concert. Katie utehs is live in Mountain View with an update on the police investigation. Katie . Reporter claudine, we did learn this morning that that man shot multiple times and transported to the hospital has died. So this is now a homicide investigation. Mountain view police tell us that they are following multiple leads. However, we have not heard of any reports of arrests. Let me show you some video from inside a wiz khalifa concert that was posted to youtube. This is a packed crowd from last years show. Last night was also a capacity crowd of some 22,000 fans, according to the mercury news. Weve learned the shooting happened around 11 00 back stage with the victim being shot multiple times. Police locked down that back stage area. Its a crime scene, so we did lock it down. We are talking to individuals who were present and who are witnesses of the crime. Reporter witnesses describe the weapon as a black handgun with a large clip. There were only vague suspect descriptions. A major question at this point is how did the weapon make it past security. Police say they still need more witnesses to come forward. They would like any pictures of the back stage area as well. Now, we are working to learn more updates from police regarding the victims identity. We were told overnight that it was a man who was shot multiple times. Of course there is only a certain amount of people in that vip area. The concert last night involved wiz khalifa and bay area artists. A 16yearold boy will be tried as an adult in connection with a deadly shooting in san jose. Police say Carlos Vargas is the second person charged with murder in the july 28th shooting of 22yearold david escola. Vargas was in Juvenile Hall on unrelated charges police linked him to the escola case. Police are still searching for a third suspect. The 77yearold coowner of a petaluma slaughterhouse linked to a massive recall is pleading guilty to selling diseased meat. Prosecutors say he sold meat from more than 100 condemned cows. Singleton pleaded guilty yesterday and agreed to work with prosecutors against the other three defendants in the case. Prosecutors claim workers at the slaughterhouse waited until inspectors were on lunch breaks to process the diseased meat. We are getting a look at Surveillance Video of a state senator taking a sobriety test. Ben waso walked the line early yesterday morning, after chp officers spotted him driving the wrong way on a oneway street in downtown sacramento. The Highway Patrol says the 44 yearold democrat was driving alone in a stateowned car. The officer contacted the driver, who was displaying signs of intoxication. He then performed a driving under the influence evaluation and determined the driver to be impaired and unable to safely operate a motor vehicle. Waso was charged with dui. Officials did not reveal his blood alcohol level, but say it was more than 0. 08. Hes the fourth state senator to be arrested this year, including San Franciscos leland yee. The other three have all been suspended from office. Lawyers for the accused Boston Marathon bomber are asking a federal judge to dismiss the indictments, citing conflict over jury selection. Prosecutors say the tsarnaev brothers planted the bombs. Now Defense Attorneys say there were substantial violations in the selection of grand juries, including the grand jury that handed down the indictment. Specifically, lawyers say African Americans and people over the age of 70 were underrepresented. The family of an american journalist who was beheaded in iraq is questioning u. S. No injuries have been reported. 170 migrant farm workers are now high school graduates. Last night, friends and family cheered on the the new graduates at a ceremony in fresno. The students were able to get their geds through a federally funded program that also helps job placement and citizenship preparation. The same small blue jelly fish that were washing ashore a few weeks ago at bear area beaches are now washing ashore in southern california. They are called the by the wind sailors. Back to the desk. Muhr beach residents are launching a protest today against a proposal to place weekend stops along highway 1. Environmentalists say the area is filled with visitors on the weekend. A 60 million from the state has been granted for improvements. 2. 5million will be used for pedestrian and lighting sidewalk repair project on international boulevard. Another 3. 6 million will be allocated for a bicycle and pedestrian path along with arthur boulevard from high street to seminary avenue. Officials say the path will make walking and bicycling safer near mills college. Just kind of overgrown with stuff and its not very wide or feels very safe. Traffic is kind of crazy. The projects are expected to take about two years to complete. Well, 2 investigates found a gas station in oakland may be charging drivers for gas they did not pump. A viewer posted this picture on ktvus facebook page. You can see the gas pump is going up ever so slowly, but steadily, even though gas wasnt being pumped out. The pump is overcharging drivers, but the mistake may not be intentional. Pump really needs shouldnt have that creep in there. It is a failure and it should be held off sale. The station says the pump has been taken out of service. Officials say the problem comes up about five times a year during inspections of Contra Costa Countys 300 gas stations.
