Police are also examining video of the incident and say it does not show officers acting forcefully. But they say gray asked for medical help repeatedly. Six Police Officers have been suspended during the investigation. Livermore is the latest city to equip Police Officers with body cameras. The department purchased 87 cameras made by Taser International for patrol officers all the way up to the chief. They rolled out the camera a few days ago after month of testing, they outlined instances when cameras should be turned on including responding to 911 calls, conducting probation searches and during traffic stops. The hope is that cameras can increase accountability at a time when tension is growing between communities and police departments. I think its a great toll. As an agency it shows that our transparency and allows us to better document facts that go into a case. We will be able to articulate them but also have evidence to support what we were saying. The cameras capture both audio and Video Evidence which is automatically uploaded to a secure site. Officers do not have the ability to delete any of the footage. The units cost 1000 each and storage of footage will cost about 49,000 per year. Police officers in san jose may soon have technology to help predict where crimes are likely to occur. At Tonights City Council meeting the city finance meeting is projected to propose budgeting to purchase new crime mapping and prediction systems. The system would provide officers on the street with realtime crime data and help departments more effectively deploy officers were needed. The departments current time mapping system is about 10 years old. An Animal Shelter in phoenix, arizona is the first in the state to use dna testing to determine breeds of dogs.
