These passengers making their way from pittsburgh, bay point and getting onto the bart here at the North Concord bart station and taking this into the rest of the system. We are hoping to talk to some of those passengers and find out how the drive is working out for them. As you can imagine this is an added problem and will likely add to congestion on the system today. We have video of what things look like yesterday this is the second day that bart will rely on that bus bridge after a mystery power surge knocked out more than two dozen bart cars on wednesday. Thats expected to have a Ripple Effect throughout the morning. Passengers can expect packed trains. No word on exactly what caused the problem but it is similar to a problem that bart had recently. They have taken the substation off line in the concord area and that seems to have stopped the problem in west oakland. The town declared a state of local emergency to stream line the response to fix. The sink hole cut a gas line. So far theres no timeline for when itll be fixed. A proposal in san jose that would give the homeless a place to live is causing controversy. The city wants to turn a plot of empty land into temporary homes for the homeless. Each home would have six to eight bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and on site staff. Some are worried that it would bring down Property Values and increase crime in the area. We are along the parade route. This is the second largest Saint Patricks day parade in the world. New york city has the biggest of them all but dublin number two in the world. Thats where the parade starts and makes its way down toward Trinity College and ends appropriately enough at Saint Patricks cathedral. 14 marching bands will be part of this parade, ten from the United States a big United States group. California represented a marching band from a high school from orange county. It just shows you how Many Americans out here. More than 40 million americans claim some degree of Irish Heritage and i think a lot them are on the parade route right now. You can feel the energy building. The buzz is building and once this parade comes to an end this afternoon its about a two mile, two hourlong parade. A driver who police say hit and severely injured a 6year old boy in Castro Valley has been arrested. The 29yearold Daniel Morris was driving a stolen ford fusion when he jumped the curb and hit a 6yearold boy walking to school with his grandmother. The boys leg was pinned under the car and he is still in the hospital. The sheriffs office, the can chp and the United States Marshalls Service teamed up to search for morris. After more than a week authorities found him hiding in a motel in haywood. There was a lot of information, a lot of evidence with in the vehicle. Plus eyewitness statements that led us to a pretty good conclusion that the person we were looking for was Daniel Morris. Authorities say hours before the hit and run morris could be seen on Surveillance Video stealing the car from a auto dealership. They say it was one of five cars stolen off the lot that same night. Police in berkeley have arrested a man in connection with a shoot that injured a 28 yearold on tuesday. Investigators have not released the suspects name but say that he gave up at the Berkeley Police station yesterday afternoon. The shooting happened just before noon on tuesday near san pablo avenue and delaware. The victim is in critical condition. Investigators say they believe the shooting stemmed from an altercation. Berkeley police are searching for the gunman in a separate double shoot that injured a man and woman early yesterday morning.
