San francisco as you approach the 280 interchange on 101, two lanes taken away and a sig alert. They have to repair sand barrels and thats causing show traffic. 280 great alternate to get past this without having to worry about all that slow traffic. 6 02. We are following developing news this morning of a fire, a big fire in Contra Costa County. Flames swept through four homes in bay point before firefighters were able to put it out. Alex savidge is there at the scene where the fire damageded the homes and injured seven people. How serious are the injuries, alex . Good morning to you, pam. None of the injuries are life threatening. Seven people hurt, with smoke inhalation and one with burns. That person is now at the hospital at the Saint Francis burn center in San Francisco, treated for burns to his back after escaping this fire. A terrifying morning for a number of families in this neighborhood. The fire started here in this home youre looking at on the lefthand side. It quickly spread to the home right next door and then spread to two other homes. A number of people desperately trying to escape the huge fire. This fire broke out just after 1 00 here on anchor drive in bay point. The flames spread to four neighboring homes on this street and mainly that was a result of the proximity of these homes, how close together they were. The winds were fairly light according to firefighters. It took Contra Costa County firefighters a little more than an hour to bring this fire under control. Again in the end there were two homes left destroyed, two others damaged in some form or fashion. We talked to one woman who lives nearby, house was not burned. But she raced out of her place with her family early this morning, including their four kids. It sounded like grenades, efl mroegsz. Thanks goodness were all okay. Reporter fire investigators are out there at the scene right now combing over the area for evidence, trying to figure out the cause of the fire. They are focusing on a mini van parked in the driveway of the home where this fire initially started, looking at the possibility the fire started there in the mini van or possibly another car that was parked in the driveway. Of at this point they dont driveway. At this point they dont know exactly what started the fire or if there is anything outwardly suspicious about the fire. But theyll continue to investigate. Again, you know, seven people sent to the hospital here this morning. Really firefighters say given the size of the fire, pam, and the fact it broke out in the middle of the night, its incredible that more people werent seriously hurt. Thank you, alex. It wasnt the only fire that sent firefighters scrambling overnight. Cal fire at a wildlife in the mountains that prompted evacuation in bear canyon bowled in Boulder Creek road. A building went up in flames, triggered a grass fire. Crews have contained the fire. They are now cleaning things up and the evacuations were ordered as a precaution because the fire was burning a along a main road. Northeast sky fox in san jose, captured these pictures of a grass fire that burned dangerously close to mobile home park. Investigators now looking into whether the fire was connected to nearby homeless camp. Firefighters had trouble putting out the fire because of no fire hydrants and the area and the creek bed being completely dry. One woman who lost her home was at work when this fire first started. But her teenage son was at home sleeping. She raced home and relieved the to find out he was okay. My home is gone. But thank god my son is okay, though. He say he have to jump from the window because when he was trying to open the door, the smoke and fire was already in his face. Reporter fire investigators here the at this scene have been working to gather evidence and try to figure out exactly how this fire started. Man who severely beat a driver in a road rage incident in mill valley has been sentenced to 90 days in jail. 41yearold jeffrey smock will surrender tomorrow to start his sentence. Judge sentenced smock to another 90 days, but said he can apply to serve that portion on home detention. He was charged with felony battery and misdemeanor assault. He was riding his bike when the victim drove past him, clipped him with a side mirror but kept going.
