Were looking at some slow traffic and going to start off with a look at our live Camera Network pictures. Looks like traffic to the golden gate bridge. There was no traffic, but now it ckz loo now it looks like things are open. Theyre running a traffic break and now everybody is getting through. Bay bridge toll plaza, that is backed up for a 20 to 25minute delay and traffic is busy. Slow traffic westbound 580 near grant line. There was a crash. If you come in from tracy, that whole stretch is bad. But if you get on the freeway at livermore and west of that it is not bad at all. As a matter of fact, it looks pretty good driving from livermore to dublin, over the dublin grade in to Castro Valley it looks all right. At 7 01 lets go back to the desk. A lot of people in the east bay are concerned about the report of another shooting. This makes 17 now. Ktvu fox 2 news alex savidge is live. We were talking to drivers this morning. Theyre generally concerned about being caught in the middle of one of these car to car shootings. Now we have another case, the 17th so far here. The chp is investigating the latest case. It happened here in the eastbound lanes of interstate 80 near San Pablo Dam road where we are this morning and it happened about 8 30 on sunday night. But were just learning new details from the chp this morning about what took place. The good news is nobody was hurt in this latest shooting. Authorities say a minivan pulled up alongside a taxi that was carrying two passengers at the time. Someone in that minivan opened fire on the taxi, hitting the cab, but fortunately not hitting anybody inside the car. The taxi driver pulled off the freeway in to a shooting in the parking lot. Thats when the two passengers in the cab got out and ran off before police got there. This was the 17th car to car shooting along the 80 corridor since late last year. Two people have been killed in this string of shootings. Authorities believe in all the cases the victims have been targeted but the ongoing violence still has many drivers on edge. It is really concerning because i do drive and take my daughter to School Every Day and i cross that little section where there have been all the shootings. You never know if its going to hit you or not or if its going to be someone else. But with kids, i always think of that, what are you supposed to do . I dont know. You think of the worst scenario sometimes. A joint task force has been set up to investigate this series of shootings. It includes members of the chp, the Richmond Police department and also federal Law Enforcement agencies. Theyre trying to track down the people responsible for these shootings. They believe they are motivated by gang ties. Many innocent bystanders have been caught in the middle of this ongoing violence along this stretch of freeway. There was a joint raid that was carried out just last week. There was one man arrested who authorities believe may have some connection to at least one of these shooting cases here along interstate 80. Beyond that there have been no arrests. Theyre hoping theyll keep their eyes open for anything that looks suspicious along the freeway and of course call 911 if you see anything that looks out of the ordinary. You reported the two people ran away. Are you getting a sense of whether or not they talked to investigators or are they nowhere to be found . From what we understand, it sounds like they took off, ran off from that cab after that shooting, after the cab stopped, and theyre nowhere to be found. This is really becoming a common issue that the chp has pointed out in many of these recent cases. The victims have not been cooperative. That makes it that much more difficult for authorities to try to track down whos involved in the shootings. Well bring you back in as we talk about this more. Time now is 7 05. In San Francisco police need your help to find the two people accused of stabbing a british tourist to death. Police released these sketches yesterday. The one on the left is the male suspect. The one on the right is the female suspect wanted in connection with the case. The stabbing happened on february 18th on post street between franklin and golf. Surveillance video of the attack shows three people getting in to a confrontation. Also in this video you can see the victim tried to run away but hes chased down and eventually stabbed by the male suspect. He died from his injuries weeks later. His niece was also there during the attack but wasnt hurt. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call San Francisco police. Time is 7 06. The chp asking for the publics help in tracking down the people involved in a sideshow. Someone posted video of the sideshow on instagram. It happened sunday evening on eastbound 80 just outside the bay bridge tunnel. You see what happened here, traffic came to a complete stop. In the video we see a number of cars doing donuts. Chp was called to the scene but by the time they got there, everyone had left. Police say they have a man in custody who they believe has been lurking around the Oakland Hills. Neighbors are calling him the ninja burglar. The first reports of him prowling around came in early last thursday morning. A woman saw him in her yard and then called police. But they didnt find him then. Then another surveillance camera caught him taking several bikes which were loaded in to an suv driven by another person. Neighbors admit the idea of someone sneaking around their neighborhood is scary. I would rather not have anyone like that around me. I have two kids. I think i would be pretty alarmed if i was at a clients house and was there by myself. Police are asking people who live in the Oakland Hills for anymore Surveillance Video that shows the man. One thing theyre trying to figure out is the object that the man is carrying. Still in the east bay, a man is being held on 2 million bond this morning, accused of a vicious attack at an orinda house party in february. Authorities released a blurry photo of the suspect after the incident. You may remember seeing this in february. According to the chronicle, the Contra Costa Sheriffs Office and u. S. Marshals detained a 21yearold man last week near san leandro. Investigators say the victim was knocked unconscious and remains in the hospital. 7 07. The next big earthquake could cause more damage along San Franciscos waterfront than previously thought, this according to a new seismic safety report. The report says a major earthquake, magnitude 7 or above on the San Andreas Fault will likely cause movement of the sea wall. The movement could lead to cracks in the embarcadero, possibly impacting transportation and could damage buildings. According to the report, the sea wall needs 2 billion in repairs to make it earthquake safe. Drop box is rolling out a new way for people to share photos and videos. Facebook users can share files directly from messenger. Dropbox says youre need the messenger and dropbox apps on your phone. You can tap the more button and share with friends without having to use links. Facebook says the feature is rolling out gradually so not everyone will have it right away. Facebook is also taking another step in its efforts to keep users on the site longer. Ticket master will start sending on facebook. It hopes to provide a more seamless purchase experience and obviously sell more tickets. Theres a new app to help you spend less time on your smart phone and you can learn how much time youre spending by using your smart phone. The app is called glued. Tracks how much time youre using your device and shares it with your family. Essentially it shames you to put your phone down. Glued came up with the idea for the app because smart phones and tablets are just about everywhere. We notice they impact the amount of face to face time we have with our families and others. Health officials now say much more of the country is at risk for the mosquitoborne disease than first thought. Doug with more on why the administration thinks this problem is going to be pretty expensive. You look at where the mosquito goes, initially they thought it was affecting 12 states. Now theyre saying the mosquito is potentially in 30 states, a huge portion of the country that could eventually be at risk here. Reporter it is the tiny bug with the sometimes devastating bite. But beyond that, we just dont know much. Everything we look at with this virus seems to be a bit scarier than we initially thought. Reporter at a white house briefing, officials for the centers for Disease Control and National Institute of allergy and Infectious Diseases painted a dire picture. The zika virus is transmitted by the 80s egypti mosquito. There have been 300 known cases in the u. S. All over the country but those cases are believed to have involved individuals who traveled to countries where the zika virus is already known to exist. It most notably causes birth defects. Baebss born with abnormally small heads. It may be linked to a nervous system condition. Those tiny conditions are headed north for the summer and we may not be prepared. This is an unusual virus that we cant pretend to know everything about it that we need to know. Reporter blood banks are taking precautions. People who have always donated blood, were now having to defer. Reporter already theyre tapping in to leftover funds that were targeted at the ebola virus. The movie thats being transferred over from ebola will bring us a little bit further but still not what we want. Theyre looking for about maybe 2. 5 billion in total. Its important to note the cdc is not talking about a massive outbreak of zika here, at least not at this point. A lot of people that contract zika dont show any symptoms. The problem is the symptoms, when they do show up, can be devastating. Back to you guys. Californians who take paid family leave will be getting a nice boost in pay the next couple of years. Yesterday governor jerry brown signed a bill in to law that raises the compensation level for family leave. Currently workers get 55 of their pay but the new law raises it to 60 for people with higher salaries and 70 for the states lowest paid workers. Most people take the six weeks of paid leave to bond with a new baby. Others use it to care for a sick Family Member. We want to do as much as we can in a creative way to make sure that everybody has a decent life and particularly the kids coming along have that opportunity and when the mothers can take off some time or the fathers to take care of the kids when theyre born or Family Member when they become ill, thats human. The changes have taken effect in 2018. San francisco approved some of the best benefits in the country, making it mandatory for businesses to give new mothers and fathers six weeks of fully paid time off. Time is 7 16. Then cloud cover came in and now theyre back up in to the low and mid 50s and i dont think theyre going to change much here. Another gray morning. A new mexico firefighter is under investigation because of a photo that shows his wife wearing his firefighter uniform while shes breastfeeding. Lets show you the picture which was posted on facebook by an el paso photographer back in february. The photographer, tara ruby, said the wife was standing as a model for all the moms who are actually firefighters. The firefighter could reportedly face disciplinary action. Apparently the city policy on uniforms is not clear and officials are still trying to sort it all out. Today is equal pay day. What it means for working women and why no one is celebrating. Republican president ial candidate ted cruz fired up supporters in san diego, attacking democrats and his gop rival. Donald trump has been supporting liberal democratic politicians for 40 years. I have no experience with that. Cruz said california will decide the race. Hes spending time in Southern California in traditional gop strong hold almost two months before the state primary. Cruz says he, not donald trump, can beat Hillary Clinton in november. And you have to vote for your dad, right . Not always. Donald trump learned his children eric and ivanka apparently did not register to vote in time for next weeks new york primary. In an interview with fox news, trump says they feel, quote, very, very guilty. He added they werent aware of the rules. New poll shows Hillary Clinton and trump with big leads ahead of the new york primary. The wall street journal poll, trump has 54 . John kasich, far behind in second place at 21 . Ted cruz is at third with 18 . On the democratic side, Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders 55 to 41 . Clinton has the lead among African Americans and among women. Sanders gets the backing of voters who consider themselves very liberal as well as many younger voters. Supreme Court Nominee Merrick Garland will be on capitol hill meeting with lawmakers. He has a meeting with chairman chuck grassley. Grassley, a republican, initially signaled he might not meet with garland. Republicans in general say the Supreme Court vacancy should be filled by the next president. This morning Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton are continuing their historic trip to india. They met the Prime Minister earlier today. The duke and duchess are in the middle of their sevenday tour of india. They paid their respects to gandhi and visited a wild life park thats home to rare species. 7 24. Beverly cleary, a huge part of my childhood, created characters including ramona quinnby and ralph s. Mouse. She turns 100 years old today. Cleary wrote her first book Henry Huggins back in 1950. Weve been looking at the east bay commute. 680 has filled in and so has highway 4. This commute has slow traffic because of a couple earlier problems. If youre on 680, slow from 442, beyond that in to alamo. Not a great commute in contra costa now. B. A. R. T. Has reached a deal with the leadership of its workers unions. If workers approve the agreement, riders shouldnt have to worry about any strikes for years. Janine de la vega is here to tell us more about the agreements. Weve been speaking to riders and a lot of them are relieved a deal has been made. A lot of them are fed up that changes arent happening fast enough. Steve glacier is going to speak about the development. Under this new tentative agreement, workers will get a 10 pay increase over the next four years. And b. A. R. T. Management once called its workers overpaid. Theyve changed their tune and said some employees deserve a raise. Some are shock they were able to broker a deal. In 2014 there was a strike that lasted 10 days during talks. It left gridlock and left riders fuming. Both sides are focusing on rebuilding b. A. R. T. The folks in the room came together. They said its going to be better for the bay area, better for our workers if we do this now. Im all in agreement for the pay raises the workers are receiving but they do need to fix the infrastructure, make sure the cars are running on time, make sure theres cleanness on the train and all of that. B. A. R. T. s board president said the challenge now becomes keeping the trains running because its fleet of real cars is the oldest in the country. Management knows that b. A. R. T. s reliability rate is slipping and says its working to replace infrastructure. This new contract though, it still needs to be approved by both sides. The good news is that fare for riders will not increase. The money is already there with b. A. R. T. Setting ridership records. Well be covering this News Conference thats happening at 8 a. M. And well bring it to you live at 8 30. Time now, 7 33. A candlelight vigil will be held tomorrow at a San Francisco best buy stole where nicole fitts worked where she was killed. Police say there are no signs of her 2yearold daughter arianna. Officials have been looking for her with ties to fresno, Southern California. Officer said wont reveal her cause of death, but sources tell ktvu that she was severely beaten. This killing has shocked a woman who used to live next door to nicole fitts in pacifica. I was just boggled. I couldnt understand how this could happen. Because they seemed like really nice people. Best buy also released a statement saying, quote, here we are saddened by the news and our thoughts go out to nicoles loved ones and pray her daughter is found safely. A morgan hill coach and private gym owner has been arrested on several charges including sexual assault. Police say David Wolfsmith was picked up outside his gym called wolf pack. The facility trains runners ranging in age from 12 to 60. Police say the charges involve children as well as adults who were allegedly assaulted at the gym. According to the article, wolfsmith is also a former head coach of the en sobrato high school. Police are investigating whether or not there may be potential victims at the high school. Police are encouraging any victims to come forward. Two uc berkeley grad students have now filed a claim with the state agency. The students say an assistant professor in the department of south and Southeast Asian studies has been identified as Blake Wentworth sexually harassed them last year. They claim wentworth touched them inappropriately and talked about uncomfortable subjects. They also say the campus investigation and disciplinary process has gone on for too long and wentworth is still working on campus. Its completely derailed my future career, my education. And i know its not over. So i want that time back. I want all that Emotional Energy back. I want all this labor thats gone in to it. And the University Just doesnt understand that. Uc berkeley released a statement saying the campus has, quote, taken several steps to protect the interest and wellbeing of its students. Disciplinary action against wentworth is pending. Theres another legal claim resulting from last years deadly balcony collapse in berkeley. The east bay times reports three young women who say they left the balcony just before it collapsed are now suing builders, owners, and the apartment management company. The women say they could have been killed or injured. Their lawsuit alleges poor construction and that warning signs of extensive water damage were ignored. The balcony collapse killed six students at a Birthday Party last june. Employees at a stockton taco truck say they hit the ground and prayed for their lives after a disgruntled customer opened fire. It happened at sunday night where a man jumped on to a table waving what appeared to be a rifle. The stockton Police Department says the shooter and another person were apparently upset with the food and then opened fire at the terrified workers. My kids, my wife, [ inaudible ] then they left. Fortunately, no one was hurt. The stockton Police Department is on the lookout for those two suspects. Were following a developing story out of india where a massive fire broke out at a garment factory. Flames were shooting out of the building. Local reports say the ground floor of the building at a garment factory, the upper floors are apartments. Crews rescued some people. Others took refuge on the roof. Its feared many people have been trapped inside. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Seven people who fled after a deadly fire over the weekend in Southern India have now turned themselves in to police to face prosecution. At least 116 people were killed during an illegal Fireworks Show at a hindu temple. Authorities have told the temple not to hold the show because of safety concerns. Police are now investigating temple Board Members and fireworks contractors for possible homicide charges. The recent rain in the Central Valley has apparently caused a huge sinkhole. Take a look at a sinkhole in the city of madera north of fresno. Watch as the camera rolls. You see part of the street collapse down in to the sewage line. The sinkhole continues to get even bigger. In the end its about 12 feet wide, 15 feet across. Also more than 15 feet deep. All this as it appears someone is standing just feet away. Madera police say crews are already repairing the road but we dont know how long that work will take. 7 37 is your time. Lets talk about the warriors. Theyre looking to make history tomorrow night. A warrior victory over memphis would set a new record for most wins during the nba regular season. Oracle arena is already being decorated for the first round of the western conference quarterfinals as the team with the best record in the league. Game 1 will be at oracle. We dont know whether the saturday or sunday, the time or opponent, until regular season play wraps up tomorrow. For now the team is focusing on tonights regular Season Finale as well as the fans. Players and coaches, theyre fighting different ways to get in the right spirit. James mcadoo spent his time with some of the youngest fans. He was helping the boys and girls club raise money for its programs. To be able to represent the organization at the oakland boys and girls club, its a blessing to be able to go around the city and the amount of love we get, the support we get from the fans. That kind of connection with the community has certainly endeared with the entire Warriors Organization to fans, Business People near the arena are also big fans as well. They say the warriors dominance on the court has boosted business every time the warriors play. Tomorrows game is sold out but we checked a few minutes ago and the least expensive seats we could find for resale online are just going under 400. Thats up more than 50 in the last hour. Claudine wong back in the studio to talk to us about what president obama is doing for today and the High Tech Companies that now say they pay women and men the same. Were expecting president obama to speak in the next 45 minutes or so about equal pay day. Its a day designed to show how many extra days women have to work to equal what men make. This year its on a tuesday. To show how far in to this work week that women have to work to earn what men earned last week. Heres another way to look at the gap. According to a new report out this week called gender pay inequality, when compared with men in comparable jobs, a womens meaning earnings are about 10,800 less per year. If you spread that over 40 years of work, that adds up to a gap of more than 400,000. Things have gotten better since the equal pay act was passed in 1963. Back then women earned 59 cents for every dollar earned by men. According to the study, black women make 66 cents on every dollar earned by white men and a latino woman only earns 59 cents. Facebook says it pays all employees the same for the jobs they do. Microsoft announced its employees make nearly the same, very, very close. Reports that women make 99. 8 cents to every dollar a man earned. Other Companies Like intel, amazon also say their employees regardless of gender are paid equally. President obama marking equal pay day, he is designating a new National Monument in washington, d. C. At a home central to the womens rights movement. Its the belmont paul monument. Belmont and paul were figures in the womens suffrage and rights movement. He signed his first piece of legislation as president. Were also looking at a commute here where traffic is going to be busy on highway 24. Its been slow in contra costa county. If we can go to the maps, i can show you slow traffic. This is 237 in the south bay. You can see the traffic here is just moderately heavy. You will see that highway 4 is just kind of a mess. Weve had a couple of different crashes, some more serious than others but it has been slow. 680 is taking a toll on the commute, getting down in to alamo. Today is not an easy day. Youd do well by giving yourself a few minutes. Here at the bay bridge toll plaza, thats backed up for about a 25minute delay. And here is 101 in San Francisco. This commute doesnt look back if youre trying to catch a flight out of sfo, if youre driving down 101, you shouldnt have any major problems through south city and san bruno. Starting today, teachers and other workers can apply to carry concealed weapons at a Central Valley high school. The Kingsburg School board unanimously approved a plan that will let as many as five district employees have a gun anywhere at the high School Including two classrooms. Kingsburg is about 20 miles south of fresno. The new policy allows the schools superintendent to decide which Staff Members will be allowed to have guns based on training and work records. The workers chosen must also agree to use their guns if theres a lifethreatening emergency on campus. I think the location of the weapon on the individual will be important and the understanding of the responsibility that goes along with it. The district says it is not reacting to any threat against the school. Last month the folsomcordova School District near sacramento told parents a few employees who already have concealed weapons permits will be allowed to bring their guns to school but no guns are allowed in classrooms. If youre leaving the area to the maze, 41 minutes. Not too bad. A little bit of stop and go traffic in that stretch. Out to the bay bridge toll plaza well go. Youll see traffic is going to be slow. Contra costa county has been pretty slow this morning. As a matter of fact, 680, 24, all pretty much stop and go through the area and now 580 out of san leandro and 880 filled in. Although the commute is better than yesterday, still pretty slow on some of those key routes. 802, lets go back to the desk. The chp is investigating another freeway shooting. This is number 17 thats happened along the i80 corridor since last year. Alex savidge joins us live with certainly a lot of concern from drivers especially who take that stretch of freeway. Absolutely. Especially as drivers learn about the details of this latest shooting. Someone opened fire on a taxi cab as it was driving along interstate 80 on sunday night. It happened here along this stretch of freeway where we are this morning in the eastbound lanes of 80 near San Pablo Dam road. And this is what Authorities Say happened about 8 30 on sunday night. A minivan pulled up alongside that taxi cab. It was carrying two passengers at the time. Someone in the minivan opened fire on the taxi, hitting the cab itself, but fortunately nobody inside the car was hit. After the shooting, the taxi driver pulled off the freeway and in to a parking lot. And thats when those two passengers ran off before authorities got to the scene. And this was the 17th car to car shooting along the 80 corridor since late last year. Two people have been killed. Authorities believe all of the victims have likely been targeted as part of an ongoing gang feud in this area. Still the violence has many drivers nervous. I drive on the freeway every day from rodeo every day here at 6 00 in the morning. And i drop the kids off. So it is really scary. I dont know who theyre going to shoot, if its going to be random. The chp has formed a joint task force that involves members of the chp, the Richmond Police department, and also federal Law Enforcement agencies as they try to track down the people responsible for these shootings. Those agencies conducted a joint raid just last week. They did arrest one man who may have a connection of one kind to one of these shooting cases, but again, authorities are still trying to track down other people who may have been involved in other shootings. They believe theyre gang related but the concern is innocent bystanders being caught in the middle of the ongoing violence. With that being said, chp is urging anyone who sees anything suspicious along this stretch of freeway to call 911 right away. That would be cars driving erratically or any sort of suspicious activity on the freeway. Certainly unnerving to hear some of the details. Thank you for the update. San Francisco Police are asking for your help in finding two people accused of stabbing a british tourist to death. Police released these sketches of the people theyre looking for yesterday. The one on the left is a male suspect. On the right is a female suspect, both wanted in connection with this case. Stabbing happened february 18th on post street between franklin and goff. Surveillance video of the attack shows three people getting in to a confrontation and in the video you see the victim try to run away. Hes chased down and eventually stabbed by the male suspect. He died from his injuries weeks later. His niece was also there during the attack but was not hurt. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call San Francisco police. Time now is 8 06 and the chp is asking for the publics help in tracking down people involved in a sideshow on the bay bridge. Someone posted a video on instagram. It happened on sunday evening on eastbound 80 outside the bay bridge tunnel. Traffic came to a full stop as several cars spun donuts. Chp was called to the scene but everyone had left by the time officers arrived. Police say they have a man in custody who they believe has been lurking around homes in the Oakland Hills. Surveillance cameras caught him on video. Neighbors called him the ninja burglar. The first reports of him prowling came last thursday morning. A woman saw him in her yard. She called police but they didnt find him then. Then another surveillance camera caught him taking several bikes which were loaded in to an suv driven by another person. Neighbors admit the idea of someone sneaking around their neighborhood is pretty scary. Id rather not have anyone like that around me. I have two kids. I dont feel safe at all. I think i would be pretty alarmed when i saw that if i was overnight at a clients house by myself. Police are asking people who live in the Oakland Hills for anymore Surveillance Video that shows the man. One thing investigators are still trying to figure out is exactly the object right there that the man is carrying. A man is being held on 2 million bond this morning accused of a vicious toiblg attack at an orinda home. U. S. Marshals detained a 21yearold last week near san leandro. He was booked on suspicion of attempted murder. The victim remains in the hospal. The next big earthquake could cause more damage along San Franciscos waterfront than previously thought. Thats according to a new seismic safety reports. A major earthquake, magnitude 7 or more on the San Andreas Fault will likely cause movement of the sea vault. It could lead to cracks in the embarcadero and could impact transportation and damage buildings. According to the report, the seawall needs about 2 billion in repairs. Dropbox is rolling out a new way for users to share photos and video. Dropbox says you need both the messenger and dropbox apps on your phone. Then tap the more button and start sharing with friends without having to use links. Facebook says the feature is rolling out gradually so not everyone will have it right away. Speaking of facebook, theyre making another move in its efforts to keep users lingering as long as possible on its site. Ticket master tells buzzfeed it will start selling tickets through facebook and its mobile app before the end of the month. Theres a new app to help you spend less time on your smart phone and works by using your smart phone. The cdc has issued a serious warning about the zika virus. This as federal health Officials Say the virus appears to be a bigger threat to the u. S. Than previously thought. 1800 Health Officials gathered in San Francisco yesterday to talk more about the virus, and they learned that zika is being linked to several illnesses which attack the brain and spinal cord. Officials also say the mosquito which transmits zika appears to live in twice as many states as first thought. What were learning is not reassuring. We have learned that the virus is linked to a broader set of complications in pregnancy, not just microcephaly but also prematurity, eye problems, and some other conditions. Right now there is no vaccine for zika but the first vaccine candidate for the virus reportedly will be available in september. The dow is up about 150 points. Nasdaq and s p 500 are up by more than 1 2 of 1 . Theres a recall warning for tesla cars. The company is recalling model x suvs because the seat in the back could become unlatched and pull forward during an accident. There are no reports of any failures but passengers should avoid using the third row seat until the cars are repaired. The vehicles involved in the recall were made before march 26th and sold here in the united states. The Justice Department accused goldman of misleading investors about the quality and safety of some Mortgage Backed securities. This is the fifth settlement reached by a panel president obama put in place in 2012 to look in to the lending practices of the countrys largest financial institutions. The mortgage crisis helped trigger the recession and Many Americans ended up losing their homes. Some 40,000 verizon workers could go on strike tomorrow. The employees are mostly technicians and Customer Service representatives in the east coast. Some of the sticking points include a lack of lay off protections and the fact that workers could be required to work far from home over two months at a time. Verizon says its Retirement Benefits are competitive. In the meantime, at t and its Union Workers have agreed to continue negotiations for a new contract. The contract with 16,000 workers in california and nevada expired last weekend. At t says its wages and benefits are among the best in the country. Californians who take paid family leave will be getting a boost in pay in the next couple of years. Governor jerry brown signed a bill in to law that raises the compensation level for family leave. Currently workers get 55 of their pay but the new law raises it to 60 for people with higher salaries and 70 for the states lowest paid workers. Most people take the six weeks off to care for a new baby or a Family Member. We want to do as much as we can in a creative way to make sure that everybody has a decent life and particularly the kids coming along have that opportunity. When the mothers can take off time, fathers to take care of the kids when theyre board, or Family Member when they become ill, thats human. The changes will take effect in 2018. You may last week San Francisco approved some of the most generous benefits in the country, making it mandatory for businesses to give most new mothers and fathers six weeks of fully paid time off. 8 25. With the tax deadline approaching, you may be wondering how much of your annual salary goes to pay what you owe state and local governments. Its called tax freedom day. Nationally that day is a week from thursday, april 24th. But here in california we pay more in taxes and tax freedom day is the last day in april. Police say David Wolfsmith was picked up outside of his gym called wolf pack yesterday afternoon. The facility trains runners ranging in age from 12 to 60. According to the chronicle, wolfsmith is a former head coach at the sobrato Cross Country team in morgan hill.
