To help Students Affected by the flood. The event starts in less than an hour well be talking more about that and also another cleanup effort getting under way in san jose, the Community Center will open its doors. And hundreds of volunteers expected to come out and help. Hopefully it will stay dry but we already saw rain drops on the ground this morning, it was actually a little surprised i knew we were going to get some spitting at us and the ground was wet this morning. Was it like a downfall though it was just a little split z. I was talking with one of our engineers and we had clear skies but the road was wet. Welcome to Northern California. Yes indeed sun and clouds out there passing showers in the forecast for today as well as tomorrow maybe even monday. Well there is a cool looking shot there, giving you a view of a little bit of a build up of cloud cover. What do you see . Covering the sun. Do you see the sun right in between . Two clouds making out. [laughter] it does look like they are kissing. I know it does look like a kissing picture. It sure does. Amazing. I kept it clean. So we will continue with the possibility of a little bit of build up out there as well as scattered showers in the forecast for today, we have 34 degrees in santa rosa its a cold start for our inland communities, 43 San Francisco, 40 oakland, 38 in livermore, and san jose checking in at 41 another reminder its still winter after all giving you a look at Storm Tracker 2 where again a little bit of the moisture still just dancing around and its going to linger for your weekend. I dont think its reason to cancel your plans but you may want to keep the umbrella handy just in case. Ill show you why in the futurecast model but just a look at where the center of the storm is this will continue to take a southerly path and its got wrap around moisture that continues to move especially along the coastline we could see a better chance for those scattered showers. Here we are picking up there is that rain off the coast, here we are at noon time notice a mix of sun and clouds mainly dry, but wow its very close, wouldnt take much for it to move in closer to the coast and bring a few scattered showers by the afternoon the dinner hour or so, we have a better chance take a look at that all along the coastline perhaps the Santa Cruz Mountains, and were mostly cloudy so theres that chance for rain into saturday afternoon and here is your saturday night. It pushes to the south. Sunday well see another round start to come our way and that will bring slight chance of scattered showers sunday as well as monday. Afternoon highs for today a lot of 50s, 54 San Francisco, 56 oakland, north bay 54 santa rosa, south bay 57 san jose. When i come back well look at the rest of the weekend and how much rainfall i expect well get over the next few days and when we will finally dry outcoming up. Well an Assistance Center opens to help san jose flood victims get back on their feet. Right now 765 homes along coyote creek remain under a mandatory Evacuation Order. It effects about 3060 people and at onetime 14,000 residents were ordered out of their homes earlier in the week todays local Assistance Center will include Government AgenciesSafety Experts and insurance providers. Lets go now live to ktvu christian captain live in san jose with more about the center and the mornings neighborhood cleanup. Good morning christian. Reporter yeah, good morning. Were talking about the volunteers who are set to cleanup here in san jose today. That effort really under way right now. They are supposed to be here around 8 00 but you can see a lot of people here from the city of San Francisco, about 500 volunteers set to show up later this morning to lend a helping hand. You can see that the dump trucks are coming in bringing these dumpsters starting the heavy work of trying to clear the wet debris out of peoples homes and starting to get peoples lives back together. Theres also Police Officers here on scene as well, monitoring the scene. Here to interact with homeowners and also act as a deterrence from anybody who might try to take this as an opportunity in the neighborhood there as officers who are cruising around making sure that that does not happen. If you take a look out here you can see that people still packing up some of their belongings some folks here getting their stuff into their vehicles, trying to save and rescue what they can. Now, the support here in the city is already being set up through the san jose Flood Victims Relief Fund. They are going to be providing resources for people to get started again and try to get their lives back in order. The volunteer for flood cleanup is set for roosevelt Community Center here at 901 santa clara avenue or santa clara street. They are expecting people to show up between 8 00 and 3 today to lend a helping hand and try to help folks out and again, there is also a coyote creek Flood Disaster relief effort under way as well and that is set up at 8 00 this morning at the school so a lot of resources here for people to again start the lengthy process of cleaning up and tripping to get their lives back in order. One of the things that i was talking with the officer about here a little earlier this morning was he says this flood really has brought out some of the best in people and that people are really showing upturning out to help those in need, help their neighbors. Well show you one last thing here, you can see how big the effort really is to make sure folks have the resources they need. You can see items on the curb and this big dumpster being lowered into position right now so the cleanup effort still very much under way here in san jose this morning. Yeah, christian ive got to agree with you. I was at one of the evacuation sent turpitudes a couple of days ago and i was astounded because truck after truck, car after car people were coming in with diapers, with food, some people went out shopping at toys r us bringing in stuffed animals that kind of thing so the Greater South bay is really reached out to these flood victims in a big way. Absolutely. Out of something so tragic you see some of the best in people. Well get a big bang frank in just a moment so well send it back to you so you can actually hear us here because i think it gets pretty loud. Thanks so much for that update. Time is 7 0 a School District in which many of its students were affected by all of the flooding is reaching out to them this morning. San joses mayor plans a public hearing to examine the cities Disaster Response and why neighborhoods werent warned earlier about the potential of all the severe flooding. The situation became life threatening when on Tuesday Morning fire crews had to rescue several hundred people while stranded by the floodwaters along coyote creek. A number of residents in the rock springs area say they had no idea they actually lived in a flood zone. Santa clara valley Water District says it notified city officials at 2 47 in the morning about the increase inflows the district warned it could lead to flooding as early as 6 00 a. M. The mayor says now is not the time for blame. I think theres a lot of temptation for various folks in different agencies to engage in bureaucratic finger pointing but it has to stop. This happened in our city, were responsible and im responsible as mayor and so im going to focus on doing everything we can to help these families get back up on their feet. Mayor says he will ask the city council to schedule a public hearing so city leaders can do a better job of passing on emergency information to the people who need to know. The mayor tweeted the relief fund for flood victims has raised more than a half a million dollars. The fund is being coordinated by the Silicon ValleyCommunity Foundation. Its website says the money will go to organizations helping out the flood victims including the red cross, catholic charities, santa clara county, Sacred Heart Community service and the salvation army. Meanwhile on the eastbay police shoot and kill a family dog after it attacks a 10 month old baby. The child rushed to Childrens Hospital in oakland but is expected to survive. That attack happened yesterday afternoon at a home on concordant ktvu talked to police at the scene. Reporter concord Police Officers got to the home at the back unit of 2140 freemont street about 4 40 in the afternoon. Police say the dog attacked the baby with his sevenyearold brother in the living room watching tv. Their mother says she had been with her children but left briefly to put laundry away in a back bedroom and thats when she heard her older son tell the dog to stop growling at the baby on the ground. Mom was in another room and when she heard the sevenyear old screaming, she runs in and sees whats happening and she immediately grabs her baby and basically saves his life because if she didnt take a quick approach, it would have been a different story. The mother called 911 and had the older son let the dog outside. Concord police say when they arrived and tried to move the boy from the house into an ambulance, the dog acted aggressively. Officers fired three shots, killing the dog and an 80pound German Shepherd named charlie. The woman says was 16 months old and had been the families pet since it was a puppy. Really surprising the mom. I mean the dog has never been aggressive at all not even in public not even at the dog parks from what shes telling us. Animal Services Department says they do plan to test the dog for rabies which is in line with their departments protocol. Police say that at this point theres no evidence of any form of child neglect. The child again is expected to survive. Reporting from oakland, ktvu fox 2 news. An eastbay restaurant is looking for the woman seen on Surveillance Footage stealing a donation jar meant for patients at oaklands Childrens Hospital. The restaurant posted a video on its Facebook Page and it shows a woman on tuesday going to the counter, putting the jar there youll see it in her bag right there, and then she just walks off. Workers say that jar contained more than 600 in cash. Took all the money that dont belong to her, dont belong to her that money was for the children of oakland Childrens Hospital. The restaurant is inside the two starmark and store owners say they ban the woman more than a year ago after they caught her stealing. The restaurants owner replaced the stolen tip jar with a bigger one and he will replace the missing cash with his own money and if the jar is stolen again he will bring in an even bigger jar and fill it to the rim with his cash. New this morning President Trump took to twitter about what he says is a big reduction in the National Debt. He tweeted the media has not reported that the National Debt in my first month went down by 12 billion versus a 200 billion increase in president obamas first month. Now there actually have been multiple news reports on the National Debt specifically on a report from the non partisan Congressional Budget Office last month. Taking a look now at the u. S. Debt clock a lot of numbers there but the Budget Office analyzes the productions ahead and issued a report that says while the deficit is expected to decrease this fiscal year, it is projected to start growing in 2019, estimates have it increasing by more than 10 trillion over the next decade. And President Trump once again attacking the media claiming fake news is the enemy of the people. And i want you all to know that we are fighting the fake news. Its fake. [applause] coming up in our next half hour, reaction from future journalists at uc berkeley. But first a california teenager has his own mother to thank for saving his life. A mother from hollister jumps into action after her teenage son goes into cardiac arrest on the soccer field. It happened during a High School Game when a ball hit her son in the chest. I talked to the teen and his mother about the ordeal and her quick thinking that saved her sons life. Surrounded by his family at stanford Childrens Hospital 16 year old Jose Agredano admits hes one lucky young man. The midfield r was struck in the chest by a ball during a soccer game at watsonville last week and jose immediately knew something wasnt quite right. It felt like i got the wind knocked out of me and i started walking thinking id walk it off and after two steps, i couldnt see really anything anymore. Joses mother gina is a doctor. She and her husband jose raced on to the field where their son laid unresponsive. There was a point where he just stopped breathing and that is when i was telling someone it was game on. Hes not going to die today. We arent going to die today. It was joses mom that realized her son was in the midst of a heart attack. She started doing cpr when the paramedics arrived she yelled out bring a defibrillator and ultimately thats what saved her sons life. Had it not been for the cpr and the defibrillator . Had it not been for the cpr and defibrillator he probably would have died. When he came to what was mom thinking . I dont know if i was thinking anything. I think i was very happy. This feels wonderful. The hugs are a little bit tighter these days and the prognosis is very good. One more small test and jose will get a 100 clean bill of health and a life lesson he wont soon forget. I was really happy to be alive and kind of upset because i wanted to play. [laughter] really you wanted to jump back in . Yeah. He is definitely on the mends. Well you know youre feeling better when you ask what kind of lesson did you learn about life and he says well i was happy to be alive when i woke up the. The whole ordeal took about 20 minutes but i wanted to get back into the game which by the way they called during half and said well just call it a tie and leave it at that but their team went undefeated this year. It was the last game of the year and he wanted to get back into the game. Whats amazing is you interview the doctor who says he would have died and then hes just standing there completely fine because thats the difference that the cpr and defibrillator can make. And the mother brings up a good point so did the doctorate stanford Childrens Hospital. Its so important, cpr right when an event is happening. Someone knows how to do it you need to jump in and take control and i asked the mother when did your mother turn into your doctor hat because she went out there and they thought maybe he had done something to his head and she said almost immediately because game on. You could see the situation in a way that us regular folks cant, so what a great story. Hes going to be fine with one more test and an ekg, should be back playing soccer. Hes going to wear protective chest thing though now. I think that would be wise. Okay, time now is 7 19, lets go over to rose mary for a check of the weather and everyone has been expecting a little bit of wet but is it going to be a lot of wet . Its going to be a little bit. Okay. Just a little bit. Passing showers we call them right because you will have a little bit of sun, a little bit of cloud cover and then youll have the showers that hit the ground and then keep moving, giving you a look here into San Francisco where we are waking up with partly sunny skies partly cloudy and a pet day we were talking about this a little while ago how you may wake up with blue skies overhead but wet roadways, and thats the kind of day were going to have. Here is a look at Storm Tracker 2 where you can see bits of moisture over the city so you may have a little bit of drizzle in some areas maybe a few sprinkles not going to be a big deal but enough to keep the weather unsettled we call it for the next few days. Here is a look at the system that continues to drop to the south and just skirt the coast. Here is that moisture tap that we saw earlier in the week that Atmospheric River we like to call it so not going to combine the two this time around so we are looking at just a few 1 hundreds for some, quarter inch or less for most as we get to the next few days and here is a look at your futurecast model there is the rain off the coastline and here we are about noon time notice it would only take a little bit of a shift to the east to bring scattered showers to the coast, so even though right now it looks like its right off the coast we may see a few scattered showers approach especially closer to the coast or just in side the bay. Here we are at 5 00 this afternoon where it looks like well have a better chance as it continues to push south. And then as we get into the evening hours were in pretty good shape. Here is your sunday morning notice we start out dry but notice whats to the north of us sunday looks like its generally a drill day. Here is sunday afternoon, still partly to mostly cloudy skies but the rain is to the north. We will eventually see some of this come our way though it looks like monday morning. Monday morning drive having a few scattered showers monday afternoon there you go. Were drying out on tuesday, and then were finally looking at an extended stretch of dry weather so between now and then well run you through monday and again, take a look at the accumulation here less than. 2 expected for most areas, could see a quarter inch for some spots but its not going to be a big deal. We do have a Winter Weather advisory that moves into place on sunday so going up is not a problem but coming back on sunday could be. 46 inches expected, slow snow levels expected as well down to about 2500 feet for some spots, which means if we do get enough moisture in the overnight hours when its cold, we could see a local dusting here. Take a look at the cold numbers now 34 in santa rosa 37 in nappa, 40 oakland 41 redwood city, 41 san jose afternoon highs for today a lot of 50s, 54 San Francisco, 56 oakland, 57 in san jose a look at your extended forecast, sprinkles today, tomorrow, into monday, we will be dry tuesday looking good on wednesday, temperatures wont change a whole lot. Well be slightly warmer once we dry out, but allin all, chilly mornings, cool afternoons, and maybe a hit or miss shower. Do we have a bit of a dry spell down the road . Looks like we will get a better, yeah, but do you remember last weekend when we were talking about this . I said i think next week is going to be dry. This is why i dont like to chat about several weeks out. You cant go seven days out. We get it. Well see thanks. Well, a Police Officer takes a young man accused of stabbing a School Principal into custody. But it was her approach to the situation thats getting the publics attention. Youll hear from her coming up next. Welcome back to mornings on 2 a becomely Police Officer is talking out about the tactics she used to arrest an autistic stabbing suspect. Ktvu cameras were rolling as officer jennifer coats calmly arrested 20 year old an gel j on suspicion of stabbing and injurying a principle at a special Education School in becomely. She didnt put handcuffs on him until he was in the squad car. Officer coats is one of the first officers in her department to go through crisis intervention training which focuses on tactics of deescalation. She also works with the Special Olympics and says she knew not to overstimulate someone with awe time. So there are times when someone doing less is more and in this case, you know, i wanted to make a connection with him verbally and he was complying, so at that point i didnt feel like we needed to try and escalate the situation. Prosecutors have charged him with attempted murder and assault with a Deadly Weapon and hes being held without bail. Police in santa clara say theyve broken up an Identity Theft ring. Less arrested Timothy Howard an crystal during a raid of the house in san jose. They are accused of stealing the identities of at least 12 people in santa clara. Detectives seized piles of stolen mail, fake id cards, printers and card leaders during that raid. A San FranciscoInternet ServicesSecurity Services company says its found a bug in the system that may have compromised personal information from thousands of websites. The company is called cloud flare and it has several big clients including uber and fitbit. The bug went unnoticed for five months. Now cloud flare has set up a Software Engineering team in San Francisco and london to work on the problem 24 hours a day until it is fixed. Until then, peoples passwords could be at risk so they should be reset as a precaution. Up next the latest storms mean big snowfall totals in the sierra but maybe even too much snow. Coming up the problem chp and homeowners are dealing within this very snowy season. A big cleanup and assistance effort under way this morning in san jose, thousands of people there impacted by devastating flooding weve got christian captain live in the south bay and hes going to have an update for us coming up. Good saturday morning everyone. It looks like a nice start to your weekend, although we had a little bit of rain earlier. Weve got a live look from our roof cam and right now all is well. The city of oakland looks nice. Its all good. Welcome back to mornings on 2. Good to have you on board. Yes good morning to you. It is sunny but a little chilly out there and at 7 31 lets go over to rosemary. Ive got to give a shout out to nikki mora, the wife of our director who just came in with Girl Scout Cookies but i need to drink more coffee. I couldnt resist. Shes responsible for the cookies ha . Thank you. [applause] [laughter] got a little clapping. Took everything i had in me not to eat more than one but yes appreciate that. We are looking at some good weather coming our way. We will be a bit unsettled. Youll hear me say that a hundred times because what that means is sort of a mixed bag. We have the sun, we have the clouds and the scattered showers that will remain in place for your weekend although sunday looks mainly dry, well talk about sunday in just a moment lets talk about right now. How about that . Beautiful shot of the Golden Gate Bridge where again, some of the roadways this morning a little wet. We have 43 in San Francisco, 40 in oakland, 38 livermore, so a chilly start lets go to the north bay where we are just above freezing in santa rosa, 37 nappa, south bay 41 san jose. Even though very cold, not as cold as yesterday morning, up by a few degrees in most spots, up by five degrees in santa rosa so yesterday you bottomed out into the 20s, oh, a chilly one for you there. Here is a look at Storm Tracker 2 and that little bit of moisture we continue to track over the bay area, a little drizzle and light passing shower is what youll see for today. This system is going to skirt the coast and continue to move south, bringing most of the rain right along the shore most of it will stay offshore. These are cooler systems and we are even looking at snow levels dropping down to about 2500 feet by tomorrow. So when i come back ill have a look at the after than highs for today and a look at the futurecast model and well track todays system well take a look at tomorrow and into monday, because these are the three days where we will have the unsettled weather and then we dry out for a little while. Ill have more on this coming up in just a little bit. Sounds good thanks. 7 33 more residents in san jose are finally returning home after they were forced to evacuate this week because of all of the flooding. Beginning in our next hour volunteers are taking part in a large neighborhood cleanup. Weve got ktvu reporter christian captain live in san jose. Residents coming together, christianities good to see how many people show up but its already busy in the neighborhood youre in with those debris trucks and what do we call them . Big boxes. [laughter] i dont know. Loaders all kinds of heavy equipment here, all kinds of dumpsters to take that b bee and as you said its really impressive to see how the city turned out and neighbors are helping neighbors. If you take a look down here you can see city workers and volunteers here already beginning the process of cleaning up weve soon a lot of affected residents coming out dropping their debris off and going back home to go gather more. We have video of that flood to show you what that looked like. Youll remember what it looked like just how intense that flooding was and how many people were affected. All that gear, everything from their homes now contaminated by that water if its not out right ruined by it a lot of it contaminated by that water which was authorities said was very dirty at the time, contaminated with everything from possibility of having sewage in it to gasoline to tar to everything simply left out on streets so clearly not something youd want in your home. People here this morning say they appreciate those volunteers turning out and they are happy because they believe at this point that the worst is behind them. It was saving private ryan trying to get the neighbors kid up the street with three weeks of clothes and one bag, but like the Neighbor Lady is down to a wheelchair and my wife is blind and just trying to keep these people out of harms way was the worst of it. You could see the folks out here cleaning, richard the man we just heard from thats his home there. He was chening out this morning saying that he hopes that his daughters dont have to see just how much stuff they are going to have to throw out. Now again in just the next half hour were expecting about 500 volunteers to show up at the roosevelt Community Center and there are also a lot of resources and activities taking place today. Theres going to be the local School District here turning out today to help out folks. There is going to be Franklin MckinleySchool District is providing Disaster Relief this morning, that starts at 8 00 so thats a thought for affected residents to turn out for resources but you can get a sense, just of how much work there really is to be done. They are still waiting for insurance adjustors, claims adjustors, so theres a lot of work to do in the weeks to come. Youll think about that and youll see the water itself and think okay its dried up lets move on but it could be months and maybe even a year for some of these people to kind of get back on their feet and get all their belongings and start over again. Right. Its going to be a healthy process for a lot of these people and were wishing them well and certainly, going to be doing what we can to make sure they are aware of what resources are available and also make sure people know how they can help out if they are interested helping out either coming down and volunteering or possibly even donating to area relief funds to make sure the folks here can get a leg up, and get their lives back in order. Christian captain thanks so much reporting from san jose for us. Almost two weeks after the threat of a devastating flood at oroville dam, state water says the conditions are still stable. Its at 78 of capacity according to the latest numbers from the state department of water resources. Thats 113 of the historical average for this date. Crews have been working around the clock since Lake Oroville overflowed eroding the emergency spillway. The threat of a catastrophic flood prompted the evacuation of nearly 200,000 people. The oroville dam can be seen from space. Nasa released this picture taken by a crew member from the International Space station on wednesday that shows the situation from hundreds of miles above the earth. Interesting. Well governor jerry brown put a price tag on the cost of repairing damage to the states infrastructure. He was 437 million for Flood Control efforts. 50 million for Emergency Preparedness programs as you could imagine theres a long list. He says if the state is actually going to work on its infrastructure as well including roads and highways and looking at a grand total of 187 billion. The governor says state leaders are working to complete a transportation funding package by april. We can have a civilization we have to pay for it. In general, we have to be doing more, pay as you go. There has to be a very healthy Public Expenditure based on taxes. We got to belly up to the bar and start spending money. The governor said he intends to spend nearly 450 million on Flood Control following the emergency at the oroville dam. Some of the money comes from the general fund but most comes from a water bond approved california voters in 2014. People in the sierra are dealing with the aftermath of so much so snowfall this season. In truckie, a large tree came down and cut power to the Sierra Meadows neighborhood. Neighbors think it was the weight from all of the snow and the snow is piling up on roofs causing damage and leaks to homes. The chp is also reminding people be careful on those roads right now chains are required on interstate 80, so far no chains required on highway 50. Congress woman jackie speer hosting her sixth town hall today happening at the cabrio School District event center in Half Moon Bay this morning the topic is conversation about america. Meanwhile President Trump got an enthusiastic welcome at the conservative Political Action conference. That was in maryland yesterday. The president repeating his Campaign Promises to build a border wall, lower taxes, beef up the military, and repeal and replace the Affordable Care act. Were going to save americans from this crisis and give them the access to the Quality Healthcare they need and deserve. [applause] president spent part of his speech bashing the media, calling fake news the enemy of the people. After the speech the white house blocked several prominent news organizations from a scheduled press briefing. Ktvu has reaction now from the next generation of journalists at uc berkeley. Its a really interesting time to be a journalist. Reporter at uc berkeleys graduate school of journalism, word of a media outlet has students talking. I think its pretty consistent with the tactics hes been following. I was kind of outraged because as a journalist we should be the ones covering these things. Cnn, the New York Times were among those shut out of the meeting and press secretary shawn spicers office. Bright bart news and the Washington Times were let in along with nbc, abc, c b c and fox news. This is audio from the brief. This afternoon hes meeting with the governor and over the weekend, the president is going to be continuing to work on his joint address. The reporters from the associated press, Time Magazine and usa today chose not to attend in protest. I think thats absolutely the right attitude for them to take and i applaud those reporters. This standoff, this food fight going on between the Trump White House and the media is enormously beneficial to both sides. Ratings are up for the media and trump gets enormous receptions when he goes before conservative audience. Ed wasserman says the standoff may not be good for the public if reporting resources focuses and are diverted away from the impact of trumps policies. Using this is a way to prepare to discredit reports that may very well be strongly reported and great public significance. Students say the administrations actions strengthen their resolve to pursue a career in journalism. The new era, a new time and its a time where journalism has an opportunity to prove itself worthy to the American People. A white house spokeswoman responded all of this by saying the briefing was for reporters so everyone was represented. They also decided to invite additional reporters. In our news room, ktvu, fox 2 news. Top democrats are meeting in georgia right now working on finding a new National Chairperson. So keep fighting and keep the faith. And ill be right there with you every step of the way. Voting is happening this morning to determine the next one. Were waiting for the live stream of the event to begin, whoever would get that position would need more than 50 of the vote to secure the position to get seven people vying for it so more than likely it will take several rounds of voting with the person receiving the lowest amounts of votes each round falling off the ballot for the next round. Another prominent democrat u. S. Senator Dianne Feinstein took part in a discussion with a Public Policy institute in San Francisco yesterday afternoon which protesters did their best to disrupt. Outside the event protesters resistor resign upset for approving some of the President Trumps cabinet appointees inside, she explained why she supported the president s choice for defense secretary and Homeland Security secretary and the director of the cia. I need to work with whomever is director of intelligence and i believe i can. Others i have voted no on when i dont believe their credentials, i dont leave they are right for this country at this time, and that will continue on. Feinstein opposed betsy devos to head the education department. And also voted against Jeff Sessions as the countries attorney general. Okay, weather wise, a little bit of rain to start what are we looking at . See where it goes. All right. Outside our doors where we are with a mix of sun and clouds and a few scattered showers to go along with it here is a live look into the eastbay where it looks like the freeway there, highway 24 im guessing is actually off to a good start, we are looking at just a possibility of scattered showers for today, not so much tomorrow but we will get one last round come monday. This morning, the headline for your area just may be how cold it is out there. 34 santa rosa, 43 in San Francisco, oakland 40, liver more 38, san jose 41, winter is not done with us just yet. Giving you a look at what we are seeing out there in the way of little bit of moisture. Its not much. Woke up this morning with clear skies and a wet roadways for my commute so you may find yourself doing the same. What we do get will sort of be a passing shower, so whatever we see will not go on for too long. It will come through and then continue to move off. Here is a look at the system providing us with a chance of scattered showers for today. Its going to continue to move south but the circulation you can see around it if you take a good focus on the wind bars there. Weve got that pushing in right along the coastline so thats why we have a pretty good chance. The best chance at seeing some of this along the coast but anybody could actually get a sprinkle or two. Here is a look at 1 this after than notice still well off the coastline but as ive been saying this morning, wouldnt take a lot of shift to the east for it to now be over the bay area. Here is a look at saturday afternoon into the evening hours, by about dinner time, a better chance for scattered showers, so this may actually be our best time of the day when we see the possibility of some wet weather and then it looks like it moves south and were pretty much done with that system. Sunday morning, we wake up dry, sunday afternoon also looks dry, but if you notice Northern California beginning to see system number two drop in as well. These are colder storms, were looking at the possibility of low snow levels with this even though we arent going to see a whole lot in the way of snowfall and rainfall. Here is a look at monday morning, one last round as it continues to push out of the way monday afternoon. So scattered showers in the forecast for today, sunday looks mainly dry, another chance on monday. Your Winter Weather advisory for the sierra starts on sunday so getting up there today is not going to be a big deal but coming back you may need the snow tires or the chains, snowfall from four to six inches and it comes all the way down a long highway 50 again its going to be lower snow than what we have seen earlier this week. Slight chance and afternoon highs going like this for the bay area, 56 oakland, 54 San Francisco, 55 morgan hill, 53 nappa. The extended forecast a sprinkle here, a sprinkle there as we get to the next few days temperatures remain on the cool side, then we finally dry out and temperatures warm up just some but were looking at a better more extended dry forecast. We need that. Bill martin mentioned last night over 600 inches of snow at mount rose . Isnt that amazing . 40 some odd feet. Well above average 150200 of average up there in some areas. Lets hope it melts slowly. Summer skiing in july. Thanks rosemary. 7 52 several new movies are hitting the big screen this weekend and theres a Little Something for everyone. It has been a month since President Trump took office and a lot has changed including immigrations and more information on russias hacking and joining us now to talk about that is east bay representative. I know you come back every weekend. I will be back monday morning to d. C. Lets talk about the big doings in georgia. We have a lot of great candidates and this is a big blank canvas and making sure to protect woman to make their own Health Care Choices and the president and the campaign and the russian government. People are calling it a party in crisiss and trying to figure out where we go and how that goes. Think people are fired up and looking to unite and a 19yearold asked me earlier this week. All of this marching and protesting. Does it make a difference . And in the history of the country it is on the only thing that makes a difference if it leads to the ballot box. How contentious it has been and people out side saying resist or resign. People are passionate and they want to see action. Are you feeling that she got a million calls to her office. People are, and unite first, resist, and then we need to reclaim it has to lead to the ballot box if you want coo reclaim nay want to reclaim they have to register and turn out. You know that jackie spears having one today. Keep fighting. And they rewake. They are really terrified about what this administration wants to do to americans and the raids and being unwelcoming to refugees and when wl he delivers the promises, and republicans have control and it looks that Republicans Holding the line on partisan voting, and they has been head lines about republicans not Holding Town Halls bought of the security do you think it will change when you get back to washington and messages that democrats are going to do one thing or the other and i need to listen to the constituents and 2018. Democrats may ebe in the majority may be in the minority and the independent commission on russia and democrats are on board and i got a republican and we talked to one on the ride over here and there is momentum building because there they are hearing from home, i am going to hayward and we are going to have a meeting. And a town hall at a coffee shop. What it is like to be a member of congress during these time and President Trump excluded major media out lets. Your thoughts about that. You know the First Amendment is part of what i am responsible is an American Value it is in my genre and it is not american, and the presss job is to challenge the three branches of government. It is anotherchecks and balance, and this week was more news came out about the white house trying it to contract the fbi to be their Public Relation firm about the questions about russia and the new agencies reported on that was kicked out they did this to punish them there is more questions as each day passes and we need to know what were the personal, political and financial ties. And i am on the House Intelligence Committee and we are conducting the investigation and i get back on monday and we will get going. And what is it like to be a member of congress. It is exciting now, it is important you know people are counting on you we got a letther week after President Trump letter the week after President Trump won and the 10yearold asked me is this a country i can still live in. The responsibility to make sure that is we are that country. Where do you focus your intention. The Russian Investigation and pushing that forward and the ban on travel and the executive order we may get this week and so many things coming up do you feel like you spread thin. Yes, there iso many issues is so many issues out there and you want to be focused the American People are so inspiring. It is the phone calls and the people that airports and the marching and the town halls they help you amplifys the issues. It seemed like it doesnt make it difference but when you look back you will see that this moment in history the American People united they resisted and we hopefully take back our country. You are getting the word out hey we want to hear from you now t is selling tickets practically. That is exciting. How about sanctuary cities and cutting off funds to cal. Was a prosecutor and i knew a witness to a crime that was a new american came forward they wont be punished and they would feel safer and violent criminals should not be shielded by that but the people who are protected want to work hard. This is the tweet where he said no federal funds and signed the executive order and is there anything you can do to say to california, you know we want to take this stand but the federal funding is important. This President Trump is learning there is another check on him and that is congress this affects all of us. Will president obama have any thing to do with the party. He is working on an initiative to change the way we do redistricting. And the party goes out the way to protect its and the minorities and hope he speaks up more but he deserve as break too. 8 years is a long run. Thanks for coming in. Hayward starts at what time . 10 a. M. So if you have time to head down you will get a big crowd. All right. Coming up, the flood in san jose the cost to repair and improve the infrastructure around the state. [ alarm clock beeping ] weather. [ laughter ] cartoons. Wait for it. A lot of work ahead. And it is time for a little weather too, rosemarys racing over to the big screen. Good morning to you. We are looking at pretty good weather through the weekend and an a possibility of scatters showers and that continues into the evening hours and tomorrow looks dry and one more chance as we get into sunday night and monday and i will break it downing. And looking out side we are walking up with partly sunny and cloudy skies and we are mainically dry across the bay mainly dry across the bay and we get a pretty good chance a few scattered showers around dinner time or so if you are outt later this is what we are seeing now, but as i take a look and show you what is going on. This system dropping from the south it will be moving just mast the bay area and past the bay area and increase the chance of scattered showers and the second part of the day and a Second System dropping in sunday might and this is expected to move east across areas of california and we dont have to worry about that and a look what we can expect for today. Partly cloudy skies and there is your lunch hour and we have some rain off the pacific. And the look that afternoon and again, 57 00 p. M. A few scattered showers and it mauves out. Saturday night and looking mainly dry and that system it will remain to the north for the most part for for our sunday and the Daylight Hours looking dry and it mauves a cross the bay area moves across the bay area and there is monday afternoon and once we get past monday we are going to see a little bit of drying weather as we gelt into first week of march. And the sierra. For tomorrow. There will be, and if you are coming back tomorrow and driving up tomorrow. All of the way down to 35 feet 4 to 6 inches of snow and the levels drop down to 2500 feet and the really has to be the timing and the moisture in place and the over night hours when we see our cold temperatures. 37 right now and it is a chilly start out there and 36 in oakland and 41 in san jose and afternoon highs low midupper 50 and it is a cool day. We will warm as we dry out on tuesday and wednesday. And a few scattered hours. A quarter inch or less. Let go to dry. Sun, dry, i like it. We are done. That is all we got. Thanks rose mary. A the next level on the slopes. The high tech toys on your trip to the sierra and all kinds of goodness. Stay right there. We are back. And we are talk about why am i all bundled up . I ski season is in full swing and we will beope frn the forth of july be open for the 4th of july and we have so many things to talk about. This morning. First of all happy birthday, i am hold enough to drink alcohol and why i am wearing this jacket. With all of the mountains of snow this year i was up there last week skiing some of the best conditions i have ever experienced in the state of california and grew up in alaska and that is saying aton. This called the subcue avalanche jackt is a back back. It full back pack and it is also a coat, but if you caught in the back country and an avalanche you pull this rip cord and it explodes. And with that snow tons of people are doing more back country and just with so much snow, a lot more avalanche danger. We will pull that cord but not yet. I have triggered avalanches before. And some of the other stuff and we will get to this that end. So robot ski trackers are now a thing this is a tiny little tracker you put on your boots oron your skis and you can use it for other sports and it tracks angle, transition, and all of the metrics that help you become a better shredder. And they teamed up with the metrics on the skis themselves. That is the tease and the words come up. Maybe i just want to think i am better then i am. This is all in one. So this is around the top of your boot and speaking of boots these a apex ski boots are two in one. When you want to walk around you pop that innerlining out and you have a supercool ski boot. You know you clunking up and down. And side ways. And heated ski boots are a big trend but these are lined and they have a fleece lining. And they are warm enough and people ask me r they supportive, and they are. They are very supportive. They are good as boot and also great as ski boot. So it is a two for one. And these are almost a thousand and coming out with an a more hitech boot but for the price these are great boots. But 1,000 klz is is on the highened. Of course i am wearing one of my favorite this is the go proand the hero five. We saw them showing up and on helmets and this is cool because it is locks right in to the go proback pack. And it is voice activated so you dont have to touch a thing you just tell it. I am about to do something amazing. And the folks getting in line 9 00 a. M. They are saying i want a little some of that white stuff. That is the disadvantage to a lot of snow, that is waiting in line and that is in kirk wood and they have a lot of snow rose marry has a look at the weather. Just a couple of week systems and today, it looks like sunday night into monday. And sunday is looking fairly dry i will show you that in just a little while and focus on today and the here and now, and a live look at the bay and looking toward the west the Golden Gate Bridge, partly sunny skies and a system off the coast and it will continue to run parallel to the coast as we get into next few hours and that will bring us the opportunity of a few scattered showers and most of that will remain off shore and colder stormss down to 2500 feet and our local hills could pick up a dusting and why it is probably not so likely and we will not see awhole lot of moisture while this is occurring. 49 and 44 San Francisco and into the south bay we have 36 and we have am areas near freezing. And afternoon highs 57 and 56 in oakland and 54 San Francisco and 54 in santa rosa and in the south bay 56 and sunday looks dry and i will line up the futurecast and will take a look and in the extended forecast we will finally dry it out and for an extended amount of time we will have more on this in a bit. And the center is now open to help san jose flood victims. Right now the homes a long coyote creak are under Evacuation Order and affects 3,000 people. At one time 14,000 people were ordered out of their homes. And they they opened a short time ago and we were there and Government Agencies and Safety Experts and insurance providers. I and helping to clean up and out in the neighborhood all morning. And the heavy equipment behind you and a lot of volunteers sweeping up the streets and helping out. Yea, some 500 volunteers. And a sense of what the work you can see them making their way in and out of the home and this is the scene we see seen repeated over and over. They go in the home and pull out whatever debris they can, most of it is water log and coated in mud and in the giant dumpsters it is a tragic scene you are seeing in some cases every thing someone had soaked, and coated in mud and put in plastic bags and tossed into dumpster, and you need to see the inside of this house. It is just wrecked. And home owners in the area obviously ae emotional and sad to see this. And happy to see the help, you can see again, this is just another load bringing out one item after another. In some cases large and in many cases small. I have seen photoalbums have to go in this and this tragedy is striking on a personal level and video we shot earlier they are bringing volunteers in giving them a safety briefing and deploying them out in neighborhoods devastated by this flood and they had about 500 volunteers preregistered but there is also room for more people to come and help out. We have had over 500 people register to volunteer and that doesnt mean people cant drop in. There is lot of things people can do mucking out houses and moving debris in the boxes and Translation Services and help at the registration and check in desks lots of opportunities for people of all ages. And a sense we moved cross the street and more volunteers over here and we turned to the right here, you can see this is another house cross the street and you can see a lot of the items already out on the front lawn and volunteers coming and going. And some of the people are wearing the suits and that is because the water out here that was involved in that flood was con tameinated with every human waste to gasoline, and other chemicals in the water and all of this stuff needs to be thrown out you simply cant save it, it is not safe. If youre not able to come out you encouraged to donate financially and mep folks get back on help folks get back on their feet. A lot of folks helping out. Live for us in san jose, thank you.
