One thing that did not make the memoire concerns a tape of donald trump using the n word. She says in the book that three sources in separate conversations described to her trump using the rarely slucial t it was not until after the book was lossed sclosed she heard th you have heard the tape in. I have heard the tape. Since publication of the book . Yes. And you know it exists . Yes. And i regret that people are trying to leverage it as an october surprise. I dont want to be a part of it. I heard for two years it existed and once i heard it for myself, it was confirmed what i feared the most, that donald trump is a con and has been masquerading as someone who is actually open to engaging with diverse communities. But when he talks that way, the way he did on this tape, it confirmed that he is truly a racist. Why didnt you get that in your book . It closed too soon and i have been tracking, tracking. This person is so afraid because of the forces who are working to keep this tape from coming out. Then theres omarosa talking about her firing by white house chief of staff john kelley. The stunning part of this part of the story is not the firing but that she was able to record it, allegedly, happening in the white house, in the situation room. Here is part of that tape. There are pretty significant legal issues that we hope dont develop into something that thatll make it ugly for you. But i think its important to understand that if we make this a friendly departure we can all be you know, you can look at look at your time here in the white house as a year of service to the nation, and then you can go on without any type of difficulty in the future relative to your reputation. Can i ask you a couple of questions . Does the president is the president aware of whats going on . Lets not go down the road. It is a nonnegotiable discussion. I dont want to negotiate. I just i would like an opportunity to understand. We can talk another time. This has to do with some pretty serious integrity violations. So ill let it go at that. So the staff and everyone on the staff works for me, not the president. So after youre departure ill inform him if he gets interested on where you may be. A surprising bit of audio there. Omarosa did not say how often she recorded her colleagues but she defended her actions in the situation room. I protected myself because it is a white house where everybody lies. The white house responded to the kelly tape in this statement by sarah sander says, quote, the very idea a staff member would sneak a recording device into the white house situation room shows a blatant disregard for National Security. And then to brag about it on National Television further proves the lack of integrity from this disgruntle ltd, former white house employee. President trump was asked about his former white house aide saturday. Do you feel betrayed by omarosa . Low life. She is a low life. The white house expanded on that. It it is sad that a disgrunted former white house employee is trying to profit off these false attempts. And the white house responded to omarosas claim she was offered, quote, hush money to keep quiet. It was in the form of a nondisclosure agreement signed by people who worked on the trump campaign. It includes a clause that prohibits, quote, demeaning or disparaging the campaign, mr. Trump, mr. Pence, any trump or trump company, any pence or pence Family Member or company. Here is omarosa discussing that. There are several former employees from the white house who actually signed this agreement, who are all being paid 15,000 for their silence. The only reason unhinged you believe all of the people that left the west wing of the campaign are bought off . Absolutely. Which is why sean spicer was describing donald trump as a unicorn jumping over rainbows, because he signed this agreement. Is the president in the habit of offering hush money. That is an insult. You know it is typical to sign an nda in any place of work. I would be shock if you didnt have one at abc. Im told she signed them when she was on the apprentice, certainly on the campaign. Weve all signed them in the west wing. You sign them in the west wing, you have signed a nondisclosure . We have confidentiality agreements in the west wing. Why wouldnt we do that . Omarosas ability to tape a conversation with the chief of staff, general john kelly, in the secure room, in the situation room, one has to ask what is happening with security protocols and what more there might be. This is a huge deal that cant be understated. The fact these recordings exist at all and the fact they were taken inside the situation room is shocking. It is supposed to be one of the most secured places within the white house. So the fact it is happening inside the situation, certainly raises questions about National Security and about where else people might be bringing in recording devices to record conversations without other people knowing about it. Omarosa may have broken the law by doing this. You cant just bring a recording device in the situation room and record people speaking. Lets not forget theres a reason these laws are in place, a reason you cant do it, and thats to keep america safe and ensure foreign powers arent using these recording devices and hacking in to gain access to classified information. You know, part of this as we look at it, theres the legal issues that general kelly in the recording is alluding to, right . And number two, what youre bringing, she bringing a recording device into the situation room that could intimate legal jeopardy. Absolutely. You are not allowed to do that. Another point i want to make and something worth remembering is that the president himself has kind of shown a blatant disregard for certain National Security protocols. Remember, he has been known to use a phone thats not fully secure and experts believe is at risk for hacking and undermined places like the cia and fbi. I think when you have that topdown, kind of disregard for National Security protocols it is not setting the right example for the staffers. And taking a step back, what is the control system like right now. If you have a taping going on like this, someone has to ask what is the chief of staff doing. Thats right. Theres been reports that the Trump Administration is looking into kind of Legal Proceedings to maybe try to stop omarosa from releasing additional recording, to maybe punish her for making these recordings to begin with and stop her from releasing additional recordings which she claims to have. We will have to see if they take legal action, but if i had to venture a guess i would guess probably not. I feel like what weve seen in recent months is any kind of effort on behalf of the administration to stop people from speaking out, whether, you know, with nondisclosure agreements or hush payments, that hasnt worked out. So i dont think theyre going to venture down that path. I guess not taping very in very secure areas in the white house is so 2017, right . Right. Exactly. Thank you so much, my friend. Well, 12 hours after the president s sudden twitter announcement, the Commerce Department weighed in with secretary wilbur ross writing in a statement in part, quote, since the imposition of the section 232 tariff in march, exports to the United States have lined and domestic Capacity Utilization has increased, but not to levels sufficient to remove the threat to National Security. Doubling the tariff on imports to turkey will further reduce the imports that the department felt threatened to impair National Security. Less than three weeks ago trump threatened, quote, large sanctions on turkey for ankaras ongoing detainment of pastor brunson. The lira continued to collapse, hitting new record lows. The dow jones dropped 200 points on the fear that it would Impact Global markets. In speeches on friday, president erdogan said threatening blackmailing language and bullying will not cut it. In a series of tweets on saturday, the president criticized sessions while also slamming christopher steele, the former British Intelligence officer who authored an Opposition Research dossier on trump and former associate attorney general bruce ohr. He tweeted, the many meetings with deputy ag bruce ohr and his beautiful wife nellie. Fusion gps hired him to write the phoney dossier paid for by crooked hillary and the dnc. He threw out the date of september 1st as a reasonable date to get it done. Maybe i credit it too much. I thought he meant, well, that will keep us clear of the elections. They did Say Something like they didnt want to repeat some of the mistakes comey made. In an interview with the wall street journal, guilliani said, quote, we certainly wont do an interview after september 1st because were not going to be the ones to interfere with the election. Let him, mr. Mueller, get all of the bad publicity and the attacks for that. Meanwhile, trumps legal team is also preparing to counter mueller should he issue a report on the president s actions, even a critical one. Guilliani told the journal, quote, i would take that. He went on to say, a negative report gets it over with. We can answer it with, i think, a better report from us. And then we get to wait and see what happens in congress. And Rudy Guilliani seemed to contradict himself yesterday. He said that President Trump and former fbi director james comey never discussed former National Security adviser mike flynn. But guilliani and other Trump Officials previously indicated that the president did, in fact, discuss flynn with comey. Here is what guilliani had to say yesterday followed by comments that he made back in july. What happened in that conversation with comey about Michael Flynn . What exactly did President Trump say . There was no conversation about Michael Flynn. So youre saying that President Trump and james comey never discussed Michael Flynn . That that is what he will testify to if hes asked that question. They already know that. So why are they asking us for him to repeat what they already know under oath. And youre also saying a month ago you didnt tell abc news he said something along the lines of course not. Of can you give him a break . No, i said that is what comey says. The reality is comey in some way ends up a good witness for us. How is he a good witness if hes saying the president was directing him, in his words, to let the Michael Flynn investigation to go. What is President Trumps end game as you continues that attack against him own attorney general . So poor Jeff Sessions, right . Scared stiff and missing in action, some of the harshest words the president has used with regards to Jeff Sessions. Thats really saying something given the repeated attacks on Jeff Sessions over the last few months, over the last 18 months, just over and over again attacks on Jeff Sessions. We know the president is not pleased with sessions recusing himself from the russia probe. The end game i think is obaviou, is trump trying to pressure sessions and get him to step down. He has called on sessions to put an end to the russia probe, of course, as sessions can no longer do that. Only Rod Rosenstein can do that. Trump obviously aware of that. I think the end game is for sessions to resign. Pointing towards the end game, september 1st according to Rudy Guilliani in terms of a potential sitdown happening or not and on that very topic, chris trow writes in, the president is merely a citizen entrusted with high office. While the courts must pay due deference to the president s constitutional responsibilities, he is no more entitled to ignore the laws or ignore a court order than any other citizen. Like any other citizen, he has a duty to respond to a grand jury subpoena. Giving evidence before the grand jury is occasionally stressful and sometimes embarrassing, but essentially simple, tell the truth. Should special Counsel Robert Mueller here play hardball, absolutely challenge the rule of law here to get the details as trow is saying here . I believe mueller will play hardball. He takes his work extremely seriously, who wants to get to the bottom of the investigation no matter what it takes, who is not going to strike a deal with the president to appease the president. I think he really will do what it takes to get to the bottom of this investigation. The argument is that, you know, a trump mueller confrontation could wind up strengthening american institutions but it could be good for america in the same way, you know, everything that happened with nixon and watergate was good for america as well and it showed nobody is above the law, that even the president is not above the law. So people saying, you know, many saying that a trump mueller confrontation would result in doing that, others saying, you know, a trump mueller deal could also end up being mueller rewarding bad behavior on behalf of the president , and by all accounts mueller is not somebody who will be looking to do that.
