Thank you principal thank you to karina and david wonderful student leaders arent they your leaders its my pleasure to join the School Board Superintendent carranza our supervisor here today to thank all of you for not only being the great students but one of the best schools in San Francisco presidio yeah clapping. well as your mayor one of the things i got to do was sit down a few years ago and a talk to my Francisco Benny Hoff in the Business Community and we talked about what we all were truly motivated by your passions were for being what were doing and who we are and where we came from any expressed to mark one evening i said to do something for education i was luke to have a great education my parents if have a lot of money i got luke with a lot of friends and want went to great institutions and on a personal level make sure that i did any part in helping our publics be the best they can be so i focused on all the Public Education institutions in San Francisco and said that if peer a worldclass city with worldclass Companies Like salesforce we should also have a worldclass Public Education for everybody to enjoy and be a part of and so we looked at the status we said we were that challenged in our middle schools and that we wanted to make sure that our middle schools were the best they could be we focused on not only helping them become better but making sure the principals and teachers also felt this the city will support them we want to request i asked if the Salesforce Foundation to marks leadership so keep up e help us they did and not only has the benny hoffs been a great leadership many their Corporate Giving but helpful with the homeless families and certainly our health care in the Ucsf Benny Hoff hospital today, were continuing in our third year of an unprecedented investment in our publics and focused continuing to focus on the middle grades not only is our middle grades the focus but down well in providing a Stem Foundation science and technology and Math Foundation in the third year with the help of the school board School District and Supreme Court superintendent carranza the entire education particularly reaching into the high schools as you are preparing yourselves for high schools to make sure our resources combine with the Salesforce Foundations enlists but also the incredible amount you see all those people with those nice research their incredible workforce and salesforce thank you for being there clapping. because not only are the resources provided to the principals and teachers but the volunteerism that is expressed through the Salesforce Foundation and companies own model of 111 and given back to the communities and school boards. And all the wonderful thing that happen but the volunteerism to the expressed in every school theyve infected in a positive way the entire Technology Companies that ron conway and others at sf city have come in on circling the schools to make sure our publics get the benefits of the technology so over 2 thousand 5 hundred Technology Companies have stepped forward and the salesforce to circle all our schools and make sure the volunteerism, resources and support for the become part of the model as well but it began somewhere in the conversation both retail space and mark began with my commitment to make sure the city has the best publics and, yes the articles are right it was no strings except for one that string was to be the best you can be the string everybody appreciates and all the kids had our parents want you to be the best and do everything to support our education we wanted to do the same thing with all our publics and with our school board no strings except for one be the best you can be and hold each other account and principals and teachers and parents with the kids we find that string and the other stripping i have for myself i have a string to make sure were the best city we can be and making sure all the Companies Act like salesforce has been and its foundation to make sure they unveil their support for education but also all the other things theyve been doing as well to simplify the good leadership in the Business Community and working with the government and working with the School District and school board to be the best and the return is going to be incredible because i can already see in this third year commitment that the students are excited to be here with the principal with the support and the support of our volunteers it takes place in this education but i wanted you all to know there is the greatest jobs in the world waiting as. Graduate or when your no high school youve started the Cadet Program for at ts an engineer or teacher or a Lab Technician or work in the greatest hospitals as a doctor or the green light Technology Companies that are here or a great part of the tourism you can manage the best hotels and the best restaurants or be a mayor absolutely or be a supervisor or be one of anything you want it is wide open for you youve got a Great Foundation in education and really, truly invest in yourselves to have the best this is what has already been our passion i want to personally thank mark and benny hoff because it takes leadership to actually produce all those resources and support weve consistently engaged with our dreams for the wonderful city in making sure we are properly invested in our youth thats why we take the time to see a movie Martin Luther king day have a chat about the vision they have but also engage the parents we engage with our communities we engage with our educations professionals i want to say thank you to Presidio Middle School all the volunteers and students it will be a great school and thank you to mark because salesforce i understand is part of the circle of Schools Program has specifically adapted the Presidio Middle School kind of like having a great uncle how they adopted you how do you like that . clapping these are wonderful time for the city great challenges in front of tuesday but a secure foundation we involve many of our problems im luke to be your mayor im hard work bog around the corner more housing for the teacher; right . Make sure it is not just want happens in the classroom but everyday on the streets in the city i got to build thirty thousand more unit to make sure the great part over 50 percent are accountability to workingclass families and low income those can afford the market rate housing this is a challenge of our times were up to it we have great problem solvers on the playground congratulations may i have introduce to you the ceo of salesforce mr. Well mayor thank you that was such a nice introduction i have to tell you can a great lunch on 4 years ago you guys the mayor invite me to el beulahs on california how many have about there they have great pancakes i had the french toast the mayor said the most important thing we have in San Francisco which is the greatest city in the world and look at it how beautiful it is nirvana most important thing in San Francisco our kids because our kids are our future you guys agree with that yeah. Kids are the future clapping. and when i went to high school guess what we were the panthers too so there is a karma connection with the pan therts isnt that cool . And i have a cheer, too, we have all the sairlz employees raise your hand theyre our volunteers. clapping. we have a cheer too it goes like this when i say sales you say force. Sales. For. Sales informing thats pretty good uhhuh were excited to make a big financial contribution to the School District ear not just here to give a check money didnt do anything for schools what helps school is all of us embracing the schools our great principal, our great school board and embracing our superintendent and mayor and you all of our kids all of us together come together thats why everyone in salesforce is so glad glad to be here you guys like ipads. Yeah. Good have you guys seen more ipads around our school lastly no that is are you excited about having books . Well guess what i dont know what the superintendent did with all the ipads laughter . Well have to check his closet but were bringing in great computers. Volunteers and money to make a Better School isnt that exciting we all want presidio to be the best school possible we can do it together cant we. Yeah. Thats why were here were excited to be here with you and focus on cb o schools and all the schools in San Francisco and i just want to thank the mayor and the superintendents and the school board and thank susan that runs our foundation stand up susan clapping. and we also have some of the Board Members stand up Board Members and take your bow clapping. so it is going to take everyone, everyone in this whole assembly to make this the best school in San Francisco but he can do it are you guys ready to have the best school in San Francisco. Yeah. What i want you to do is cited with our teachers and make a listed of what it is going to take to make presidio holiday the best does anyone have an idea raise your hand what were going to need a lot more than ideas raise your hand how to make presidio the Best High School in San Francisco now raise your hand in you have a great idea to make the Presidio Hill school the best school in San Francisco. Thats it thats what im uber youre going going to b go back to our classrooms and prioritize the items do you know what that means it means what is the most important thing because everything this is important nothing it is important so we have to k34uz if you guys give us the lift the guys with the black and white shirts theyll get to done thats awesome to have them theyll work hard you give us the list we work hard hundred dollars that sound you have to come up with the good ideas. Benny hoff and mayor how about the presidio panthers this is awesome so you thank everyone i wanted to thank and i also wanted to especially thank our board of education your for your guidance with leaders like mayor ed lee and mr. And mrs. Benny hoff thiscy is changing the face of Public Education and the changing education for the entire nation and ill tell you why if you loan to wro what the mayor and benny hoff said their investing in the schools with the only return being a great education for our citizens and students in San Francisco so when they say no Strings Attached monopoly attached its innovate like were going to give us a donation what i appreciate it about what it will take to make sure our students in San Francisco have the best richest most awesome education possible and thats what youre investment helps us to do you you know the board of education a year ago adopted a visionary vision so for our city and School System called vision 2025 by the year vision 2025 weve identified what we want in a profile for all the graduates in our students in every single one of our schools and mr. Benny hoff and mr. Conway anyone youll want to hire our students bans the profile in how theyll lead our schools creative thinkers and no matter and converse in computer codys and be able to be team players i cant think of anyone that wouldnt want to hire our students your investment helps us to put into effect and motion dislocating e sdoelgsz and it doesnt happen with our incredible teachers at presidio and elsewhere and principals not because of the superintendent and the board of education assess it needs to happen it happens when our philanthropic business icons like yourself mr. Benny hoff how can i come in and ask the educators what can we do and how can we make our schools betters thats the true benny hoff procedures and mr. Mayor made mention four years ago, we look at the data i remember that conversation subsequent conversation we said middle school are where we should Pay Attention there is a lack of engagement a dip in student performance and parents are not dpaejd all indicators said this is where we should look at so mr. Benny hoff and mayor as we speak the middle school and middle grades are busting at the seams were at hundred percent enrollment and waiting list for the middle schools the word is out the mask it happening in the middle grades in San Francisco. clapping. the word is out clapping. when mr. Benny hoff asked have you seen ipads the students said no, im happy the investment is not about didnt see not only in devices but investing in our wonderful teachers so when we have an opportunity to take you into the classrooms youll see teachers teaching in a different way and Students Learning in a very different way that is possible by the investment not only in technology but in the professional development for our criminal indicators to take it up a higher notch were the first School District in the in addition to adapted a prek9 Science Curriculum those conversations started what it takes to make that middle grade in San Francisco the number one across the nation so in many regards were leading the nation from a place lets Pay Attention to a grade span and knock it out of the parking as a student said mr. Superintendent were crushing it in the middle grades and that couldnt happen without the incredible work youve done i want to take a moment to and a thank you to the folks with sf thank you, mr. Conway is here and al lecture i want to thank you what folks dont understand circle the school is up a notch so our organizations and businesses and Tech Companies are circling schools and having the same conversation with mr. Benny hoff what does it take for our school to take to the next level our tech is having that conversation im happy to report every single middle school and k8 and every high school is continental go our Elementary School are fully circled that deserves a round of applause clapping. thank you for doing that this is the promise weve make to our students if you study hard, if i become engaged and really understand what youre trying to learn and learning for there are jobs in San Francisco not only in the Tech Community but in the Educational Community we want you to graduate from San Franciscos public and live and work in San Francisco to be the most that Diverse Workforce and the most Initiative Workforce thats at message we want all of you presidio panthers you have a in San Francisco thank you to the salesforce and the mayor for the incredible so for the for the schools and thank you for saying what we have said from the given you cant have a worldclass city without a worldclass Public Education system if you look at the numbers in the middle school and Elementary Schools and high schools the word so out people are coming to publics again and again because of the investment and the support of the community we want to thank you for your 10 Year Investment it is not just a drop in the bucket but maybe longer than why not thats the kind of commitment were talking about not a flyby or dry by but an investment were proud to link arms and make that investment as we march for vision 2025 with that, thank you and im excited about the next phase of the partnership and presidio panthers how about one large cheer for the mayor and benny hoff how about a large cheer clapping. so im going to turn it over to principal, etc. No who will finish off the program. Thank you all so students before we go back salesforce is lana book for all students starting with you so teachers as we go back to the class well start with the front and salesforce volunteers will be handing all the students a book to start reading so thank you very much salesforce for that 7 and a half million renovation is part of the clean and safe Neighbors Park Fund which was on the ballot four years ago and look at how that Public Investment has transformed our neighborhood. The playground is unique in that it serves a number of age groups, unlike many of the other properties, it serves small children with the childrens play grounds and clubhouses that has basketball courts, it has an outdoor soccer field and so there were a lot of people that came to the table that had their wish list and we did our best to make sure that we kind of divided up spaces and made sure that we kept the old features of the playground but we were able to enhance all of those features. The playground and the soccer field and the tennis fields and it is such a key part of this neighborhood. We want kids to be here. We want families to be here and we want people to have athletic opportunities. We are given a real responsibility to insure that the publics money is used appropriately and that something really special comes of these projects. We generally have about an opportunity every 50 years to redo these spaces. And it is really, really rewarding to see children and families benefit, you know, from the change of culture, at each one of these properties and as a result of, what you see behind us, more kids are playing on our soccer fields than ever before. We have more girls playing sports than we have ever had before. [ applause ] fp and we are sending a strong message that San Francisco families are welcome and we want you to stay. This park is open.
