The father who tried to save his 2yearold son reportedly told authorities that another gator attacked him during the incident. Nbcs Gabe Gutierrez has more on that. Reporter a report by the Orlando Sentinel is shedding new light on that horrifying attack here at disney. Painting a horrific picture of a father desperately trying to save his son and that a second gator may have been involved in the attack. Chilling new details about that horrific attack at disney world. According to public records obtained by the Orlando Sentinel, the father of lane graves told authorities he was attacked by a second alligator while trying to save his son. In an email to supervisors, a captain said matt graves had lacerations from the gators teeth despite needing stitches and antibiotics, the father refused to leave the area but was persuaded to seek medical attention. On the way to the hospital, the father described the experience telling how another gator attacked him as his son was being pulled into the water. Reporter during the 16hour search for the boy, five alligators were trapped and killed. The 2 year old died from drowning and traumatic injuries. According to the report, the captain also told supervisors about the heartbreak for their child and writing this sweet couple insisted on showing us pictures of their happy son. Adding that the mother kept referring to him as her happy boy. The family which held a funeral for the child last month isnt commenting. The nebraska natives had been visiting disney world on june 14th staying at the grand floridian and their 2 year old was wading in water when the attack occurred. Since then disney world has raised fencing around the lake and other Lakefront Properties posting signs that warn of alligators and snakes throughout their resorts. Disney world officials did not respond to request for comment over the Holiday Weekend but in the most recent Public Statement they said disney was reinforcing training employees for alligator sightings and expanding communication to guest. Very good, carson. To a growing trend in hospitals across the country when it comes to how newborns are cared for after delivery. Many hospitals doing away with traditional baby nurseries. When it comes to having baby, everyones experience is different. Many want to keep mothers close never leaving their side during delivery and others would rather have the nurse take the baby for a while so they can rest but now hospitals are pushing back, mom, unless its urgent, baby has to stay with you. This is where babies traditionally go after theyre born. Theres a growing trend moms to be should know. Many hospitals are doing away with traditional baby nurseries. Its known as Baby Friendly initiative and it may come to a hospital near you. The Main Objective is to encourage moms to breastfeed and ultimately bond more with their newborns by staying together in the same room around the clock. Its hard to breastfeed if your baby is not with you and if youre not available to hear the prefeeding cues. There are 355 designated Baby Friendly hospitals in the u. S. And by the next year there will be an estimated 530 hospitals. Thats about 1 in 4 births in america. Massachusetts General Hospital in boston is among them. The research is abundant and shows the benefits of keeping a mom and baby together in their room really creates an environment thats the healthiest for the baby and healthiest for the mothers. Reporter some parents love the idea. Its the best fit. We always have here and next to us and anything that she needs, shes right here. Reporter other parents say not so fast. When she gave birth to her son, oliver, last year. She already had a toddler at home and says she was exhausted. After 48 hours of labor and no sleep, she wanted a nurse to take her newborn for a bit so she could rest. But with the new practice, she ended up in an argument. I asked the nurse if she could take him for the nursery for a few hours so we could get sleep and she said, no, its policy the baby stayed in the room. I explained the situation. I need sleep for my mental sanity and she wouldnt take the baby. Amy is a harvard trained obgyn. Its marketed as friendly to babies when its friendly to breastfeeding advocates. She says moms should have options. The issue is choice. If the mother wants to send the baby to the nursery, then she should have the choice to do that. Absolutely women should have support in breastfeeding. Absolutely they should be taught all about it. But if a woman decides that its not for her, its not for us to tell her she has to do it. Her son is now 16 months old and agrees. Theres lots of studies about its benefits. It doesnt work for everybody. You can encourage it and support it as much as you want but you need to provide option to moms to decide to choose not to or to get a few hours of rest. They say all provides should respect and support a womans informed decision. If youre a parent to be, keep in mind, if you can visit the facility in advance and find out how nurses will care for you and your baby. If the baby is staying with you around the clock, it helps to have someone with you for support and if youre a parent, dont assume your experience will be the same as last time. First child, no. Second one, a lot of people feel like if they have a toddler at home, they want their rest. Thats why its important to find out in advance. Where do we start . We have warm water. Ill add in some salt. Some fresh garlic that we smashed and we stir that up. We make this our brine. The salt will penetrate. We add chicken thighs in and let it sit for an hour and a half in the fridge. It can go overnight if you want. Ive had some thats been sitting. Can i do breasts if i like breasts better . You can do breasts. You can mow your lawn with scissors, too. I wouldnt do that. I think thats a thigh. We have garlic. Smoked paprika. Cayenne, salt and pepper. Thyme. Make our rub here. Stir that up while i mix this up. Orange juice and mayonnaise. This provides fat for the marinade. Mix in orange juice like this. We add in seasonings youre making there and add chicken thighs to that. That we marijuanate overnight. Take them out like this and straight onto the grill like so. Now, this is where the patience comes in. I like to take a brick and put it right on top of these thighs like this. Tell me about the brick. What does it do for you . It keeps it even. You want the thing to stay even as possible. Now theres obviously variations in the muscle of the animal. Put brick on there to hold it. As food cooks it wants to curl and shrink and it gets nice and even and then it takes patience. This is where we would say shut the grill and you have to have a lot of patience which most gentlemen dont. We want to play with the meat. You have to have patience. We wait until theres a nice char on it and take the brick off and well flip it over. I heard it over here. How are we doing over here . Best chicken ever had in my life. Nice and beautiful. Now let me talk you through this. Take cauliflower and smoke it first. If you have a smoker on the grill or put it on the top shelf and then we grill it to get nice char like we have here. Warrior games highlight the benefits of sports and reconditioning to help Wounded Service members recover. So let the games begin. From the army to the navy, 250 athletes representing the armed forces go head to head competing in the 2016 Warrior Games. Hosting this years event at west point, the one and only jon stewart. I cant tell you how proud i am to be asked to be part of it. Warrior games began in 2010 and served as inspiration behind prince harrys Invictus Games consisting of a variety of sporting events, the 2016 games showcased the service of Wounded Service members. It must help so much to just be surrounded by others that are overcoming their injuries. Absolutely. When i first got injured, i was in denial state of my injury. I didnt believe i had a brain injury. Its an invisible injury so you cant see it others cant see it. Youre just struggling every single day to reidentify yourself with this new injury. So being able to participate in what im getting out of it is the fact that im whole again. A firsttime participant and this years team navy captain. One thing i had a hard time with is reaching out for help. I love to help other people. But when its time for me to reach out and ask for help, i wasnt good at that. So this has helped me to open up and realize that its all about the team. Master sergeant of special Operations Command knows firsthand the hardships endured after a serious injury. I got injure december 4th, 2005, in afghanistan. I was out with my team and we had got ambushed. My truck ran over an ied. When i got hit, i knew immediately i could feel the blast on my left side. I collapsed. Im thinking, i broke my promise to my son that i would not let him grow up without his dad like i did. Through resilience and rehabilitation, he overcame his injuries and now remains an active Service Member in the military. The purpose of the Warrior Games originally was to introduce sports to military Service Members that probably feel down because a lot of them have got out of the military and they miss that comradery. Showing them theres this competition called the Warrior Games. You can come out and compete and be with your teammates and theres a light at the end of the tunnel where you can enjoy everything that you used to. Maybe not exactly but a lot of it. You have your brothers and sisters here to help you. A true sense of comradery that makes every participant part of the Warrior Games family. We are all out there together fighting our battles and pushing to be successful and overcome injuries. I think this program has saved many peoples lives. At this years closing ceremonies, the torch was passed onto the u. S. Navy who will host next years games in chicago. Great athletes out there. Talk about inspiration. I mean, they are just picking themselves up and happy and so great to talk to. Feeling whole again as they said. The thrill to compete again. I have two quarter pound patties of brisk you the and tenderloin brim. Ask your butcher to do it. I have a little bit of velveeta cheese. The good old velveeta. This is high quality velveeta cheese. Your trick is to freeze it first. Freeze it a little bit because it makes it easier to dice. Form the burger around like this. Like a surprise in the patty. Thats exactly right. Nobody likes anything better than a surprise. Tighten it up good so when you pick it up with a spatula, it forms a burger, right. Now we have a couple formed over here. Just like this. Then were going to season them with salt and pepper. I poured you a glass of rose because im an american. So now im going to put these on the grill with salt and pepper like this. Well move to the next steps. Just like so. Now let that go. Building a burger is important. You can do whatever you want for your ingredients. I personally like to do mayonnaise. What started as a class project has left a Lasting Legacy raising money for Cancer Research. This is it. The star spangled spatula. Jacob loved to create things. He approached life as an explorer. Everything was just new and adventurist and interesting. As part of a class project at Rhode Island School of design, jacob created an American Flag shaped pspatula. He saw something we should have seen before. After graduation jacob pitched his design to a company that would license the star spangled spatula. The neat thing is that it reflects jacobs playfulness and his ability to see things the way he would look at life. He felt like the quintessential American Food was the stuff that comes off the grill. To preserve the patriotic design, jacob advocated to keep production of plastic and stainless steel versions within the United States. He thought it was ironic to have something American Flag like to be made somewhere else. One year later, just as jacob was beginning grad school, he started having trouble swallowing. Jacob was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer at the age of 23. He underwent an extensive Proton Therapy at penn medicine. The Proton Therapy was positive energy. He was really excited because he said thats what i really need right now is positive energy. It was during his treatment that jacob decided he wanted a portion of the proceeds from the star spangled spatula to go to Cancer Research and thats when flip for cancer was created. Jacob was clear that he was investing in his future and this was him in partnership with these scientists figuring this out. Not just for him but for others who were in the same situation. He knew he wanted to direct money to cancer and Cancer Research and he had so much respect and so much faith in penn that it was no question where this money was going to go. It just was amazing. I want jacob to know hes still fighting the battle. He left a legacy and hes helping others to figure this out.
