The New York Times obtained images of what is left of the bomb, the now charred blue backpack, its powerful battery and handheld trigger. Intelligence official told nbc news the British Security services failed to pick up clues about the bomber before the attack. And that he should not have been on the streets. And british authorities believe abedi was part of a Wider Network and fear that the bombmaker could still be at large. On the other hand, the president makes decisions all the time and has the ability to declassify information. And i think it is just a matter of sorting through what is taking place. I was ambassador to nato about 40 years ago, and when you deal with the nato countries, they do have interests. And they do share a great deal of intelligence. And it is important that it be handled carefully. One of the most talked about instances of sharing intelligence, not with close allies but with russia, when President Trump shared Sensitive Information we got about the russian officials, there was another conversation he had with the president of the philippines and said, i have two Nuclear Submarines off the korean peninsula. As a former defense secretary, is that the kind of information you want to be sharing with others around the world . There are times you dont want to share that kind of information and there are times you do. Were it as a deterrent, you consciously want to let people know what your capabilities are. Most countries dont have the ability to know where our nuclear subs are or aircraft carriers are. And what we do on occasion is to purposely let people know that weve deployed capabilities in certain parts of the world so they will be careful. You were here during the campaign and i asked you about trump and you said, he touched a nerve. When i asked you, did he have the gravitas to be commander in chief, a i didnt know him. Now that you have seen him in office, what do you this i . If i dont know someone, im not inclined to say i do. In this case, what is the chief executives most important task . Its to select good people. And i look at his Supreme Court nominee, his Vice President , his secretary of state, his secretary of defense, i think his National Security team is really first rate. As you say, ive been involved with some cabinets over the years, and i would rank this one pretty high. The other thing a chief executive has to do is when you make a mistake on personnel, fix it. They dont get better with time. And he did. And the National Security adviser was changed. Fast enough in your view . I dont know. Im not there. But i give him pretty good marks on picking people, which i think is what a Senior Executive has to do. Obviously, looming over this administration is the russia investigation. Now the issue is, did any Trump Campaign official collude willingly or unwillingly with the inquiry. The president calls it a witchhunt, do you agree . Is sit a witch hunt or a proper investigation . It seems to me the question i cant figure out is if theres any their there, i certainly dont know the facts. It is proper to investigate things and take a good look and try to understand more than you know. But whether this is something that will prove to be important, i just have no idea. The suspect gets out of a black car and jumps into the driver seat of the white suv. The owner who was pumping gas jumps onto the hood of the vehicle. The woman says the carjacker was laughing at her the entire time. He starts to pull away with the woman clinging to the windshield wipers. The carjacker eventually gives up and abandons the vehicle, but the suv wasnt in park so it rolls onto the street. The woman jumps off the hood, back into the driver seat and brings the vehicle to a stop. Thankfully she wasnt injured. Police say it was not the smartest thing she could have done. They are still searching for the suspects. I might do that if my children were in the car, but if its just the car . I know. Lauderdale, boston logan, los angeles, lubbock, san juan, puerto rico, las vegas and phoenix. Whats new . While passengers are already required to remove Laptop Computers for a separate screening, the new procedures mean any Electronic Device larger than a cell phone, including ereaders and tablets, must also go in a bin. And not just electronics, even thick books and food that on the computer screen ask look like an explosive. The reason . People are cramming so much into their carryons these days, tsa screeners struggle to make out whats what. They have to weed through multiple things in there. The more stuff you put in there, the more ganics in there, the slower the process will become. Reporter the question is will the new procedures at the ten airports slow down the checkpoints. It is definitely going to add more time taking all the electronics out. Its already a pain in the butt to take out a sxutcomputer. Even if it takes longer, i would rather be safe over an explosion. I dont see this as a good way because theres no way to do the procedures without backing the lines up. Now you have created better terrorist target. Also this morning, we are hearing from the father of that little girl who was grabbed by a sea lion and pulled into the water. We have also learned she is receiving treatment for a possible rare bacterial infection. Just days after this heartstopping video of a little girl getting snatched off a pier and dragged into the ocean by a sea lion went viral, the father of that young girl is now speaking out. Defending his family against accusations that they provoked the incident by feeding the animal. There was somebody besides them that was trying to feed them. Also, they werent trying to take pictures or anything. Last weekend the girls family and onlookers watched in horror as a 700pound sea lion yanked the girl into the water in vancouver, british colombia. The lau family now speaking out to cbc news, the canadian outlet agreeing not to use the fathers first name for privacy reasons and to protect the identity of the child. Lau credits the girls rescue to her fastacting grandfather who jumped into the harbor and pulled her to safety. If he had a one or twosecond doubt about that, my girl could have been gone by then. That reaction makes him a hero. Days later the Vancouver Aquarium urged the girls family to get her help because she was possibly in danger of a hazardous infection known as seal finger. And her parents brought her in for treatment. The wharfs harbor master says the incident should be a warning to never feed or approach sea lions. Total stupidity on the part of the adults. Not only do you let your Family Members feed a wild animal, but then they let their little girl sit on the edge of the dock with her back to it with the dress hanging over it. A lot of change in health care lately. If the new Health Care Act recently passed by the house becomes law, it will eliminate requirements that medicaid cover addiction treatment. Thats igniting new debate over fundamental questions, is addiction a disease or should it be treated that way . I hated waking up and not knowing what i had done the night before. I gave my children up for years. Never in a million years would i consider doing that if i were sober. I couldnt stop. I couldnt stop. Daughter, mother and grandma, one family, three generations of alcoholism. I can remember times wihen i was so impatient that i reporter they say addiction ripped through their family. My father had it, his two brothers had it. I had two brothers who died of alcoholism. This is all over your family. Yes. It goes on and on and on. As far as im concerned, its a disease. It is just in your genes. Reporter as is the case with other medical research, scientists are studying twins to see how genetics play in addiction. Your genes determine more than half your vulnerability to addiction. After three generations of living with that reality, nicole, francis and jenny believe in early education. My son is 10. And we actually havent talked about this yet. Within the last few months, i just had a feeling like, i need to Start Talking to him about it. Reporter at 10 . Yeah. Reporter but treating addiction like other diseases and encouraging early knowledge of family risk is controversial. The new Health Care Act championed by President Trump wants to treat addiction less like disease, stripping back access to addiction treat. This despite the fact that trumps brother died fighting alcoholism. Trump said he educated his kids early about the inherited risk. If you have the gene, im not sure you can moderate very easily. Reporter some in the medical establishment argue that talking to your kids about the family risks too early can be dangerous. If you choose to lay that on them as a genetic obligation, youre wrong, believing that your destined to be an addict, born generationally to be an addict is a selffulfilling prophesy. Reporter but many experts say that kind of thinking as failed. We are looking at addiction all wrong and not investing in prevention. Reporter dr. Joseph lee is the medical director for battle ing youth. The prudent thing to do, the moral thing to do, the scientific thing to do is to invest early so the next generation doesnt have problems. But for addiction, we waited until people used drugs. Which is like screening after heart disease. Reporter one of the programs free from chemical dependency has talked about the history. Who has talked to their family about addiction in their family, anyone . Reporter nicole, francis and jenny say that communication is the lifeline they wished they had sooner. This is a sin. My family did not support me at all. I remember it being more on a lecture. Reporter tell me the approach you took with nicole. I did not lecture her. She would drop hints to me like, youre headed down that road. Reporter today athey have been sober for many years. I got married sober, i had my kids sober. So im grateful for Family Members who came before me. Reporter francine, what does it mean to hear that maybe the lesson you went through helped nicola. It just occurred to me when she said that, it gets better each generation. It grows and we get better and we learn more. It is very emotional.
