Near the end of a briefing at the white house, the post reports the president asked everyone to leave the room except for coats and mike pam peyo. Overnight, a spokesperson for coats said he never felt pressured by the president or anyone else in the administration, to influence any Intelligence Matters or ongoing investigations. Also this morning, the New York Times reports, the day after President Trump asked comey to end his investigation into flynn, comey told attorney general Jeff Sessions he did not want to be left alone again with the president. While comey believed the attorney general should protect the fbi from white house influence, qualithe times rep that sessions couldnt guarantee. The president said this. I wish him luck. Reporter sources close to comey says, when he testifies thursday, hes likely to detail a pattern of what he believed were inappropriate conversations with the president about the russia investigation. But hes not expected to accuse President Trump of on obstruction of justice. White house allies are looking to contain any damage. One protrump group attacking comeys credibility. We have another report of trump allegedly saying to an official in the government, in this case, the director of national intelligence, to lay off the russia investigation. Something the director doesnt exactly acknowledged happened. He never felt pressured to do that. What does it add up to when you add in the pressure to the attorney general . The russia investigation has consumed the president on every level. The report about the director of national intelligence, dan coats, he wanted him to go to comey and lay off of mike flynn and the russia investigation. In talking to people very close and supportive of dan coats, hes been concerned all along by the atmosphere of the relationship between his interactions with the white house. Now, he testifies today. You know, theres two days of these hearings. Comeys tomorrow. Thats the big one. He testifies today. And thats going to be a big part of this conversation, as well. And hes going to add to this obvious nature where the president is just consumed. We dont know what james comey is going to say until the words come out of his mouth. But theres words that he will stop short of accusing the president of trying to obstruction justice. Might we fall into a situation where we might have the Legal Definition of obstruction versus the emotional definition of obstruction . Yes. Thats why obstruction of Justice Charges are hard to make hold on this point. All of the circumstantial evidence here says the president is trying to do everything he could to stop this investigation, for one reason or the other. We dont have the motivation behind it just yet. But for one and hes asked people to step in multiple times. Yes, james comey will have to explain why, if he was so concerned to write a memo, he didnt take it to his superior, in this case, the attorney general or the Deputy Attorney general. Im sorry. Were in a crisis here as a country with our institutions. If the reasoning is, what the fbi of director is supposedly say, he didnt know who to trust at the Justice Department, if were in a situation where the director of the fbi cant trust his superiors, that superior offering his resignation to the president , where are we here . Lets turn to dramatic new testimony at bill cosbys trial. The woman at the center of the case, telling her story publicly for the first time. Claiming the comedian drugged and sexually assaulted her at his home. Stephanie gosk at the courthouse in norristown, pennsylvania. Steph, good morning. Reporter good morning, matt. Andrea constand is on the stand today. Her story will be picked apart by a defense team determined to undermine her credibility. Constand says she saw cosby as a friend, as a mentor. And he nodded yes when she asked him if the pills were about to give her were herbal. Andrea constands testimony, the most Pivotal Moment of the trial. The memories are a decade old. The details constand shared in court, vivid. Outside of the courthouse, we caught up with her attorney. I thought that she exhibited composure and bravery. Its hard to talk about intimate details like that in a room full of people. Reporter she told the jury, after cosby gave her three blue pills, i began to slur my words. Constand said he moved her to a couch. Telling the court in a shaky voice, i was trying to get my hands to move and my legs to move, but i was frozen. Unable to fight back, she says, cosby molested her. Adding, i wanted h eed it to st. The defense team will focus a lot of attention on what happened next. Constand maintained contact with cosby. At least 72 phone calls. How are you feeling today . Reporter accepting tickets for her family to attend one of his shows. Constand told the jury, i did not have time to tell my family. I went along with it. After a year, she shared her story with her mother. The defense team wanted to know why she looked into civil attorneys before telling the police. I wasnt familiar with who i needed to call, constand said. I just reached out to them for guidance and to get advice. Dozens of women have accused cosby of inappropriate sexual contact. The comedian denies all of the allegations. After court, he left seemingly in good spirits. Hey, hey, hey. Reporter slipping into an old role that almost everyone remembers. Constand was unrattled by questions about inconsistencies in her statements to police or any suggestion that she was just out to sue cosby for omoney. But its not over. Tonight town leaders are expected to vote on a smoking ban for the North Wildwood boardwalk. If its passed, anyone caught lighting up on the boardwalk would face a 250 fine. We want to tell you about the controversy case in massachusetts. A young woman on trial for involuntary manslaughter. She is accused of using Text Messages to push her boyfriend to take his own life. Morgan radford is following the story for us. Morgan, good morning. Reporter good morning. Now, 20 years old, Michelle Carter is sitting trial for allegedly encouraging her own boyfriend to take his life. So, the question facing the judge today, can one person be held legally responsible for the suicide of another. An emotional first day in court. The heartbroken loved ones of conrad roy, wiping away tears a few feet away from Michelle Carter, accused of encouraging roy of killing himself. This case is a suicide case. It is not a homicide. She pushed him to kill himself sooner rather than later. And she mocked him when he chose to delay his death. Reporter prosecutors say carter coerced roy to end his life by Text Messages. They displayed disturbing texts, that the 17yearold sent roy before his death. Tonight is the night, she wrote. Its now or never. Roy texts, im overthinking. Carter responded, i thought you wanted to do this. The time is right. Youre ready. You just need to do it. Roy drove to this parking lot and filled his pickup truck with carbon monoxide. When he left the car, carter texted a friend. I told him to get back in. I couldnt have him live that way. She assisted and devised and advised and planned his suicide. She reasoned him out of his reservations. Reporter if convicted, carter faces up to 20 years in prison. Her fate, now in the hands of a single judge after waiving her right to a jury. Is manslaughter a reach . I think its a stretch. Prosecutors have to prove that she, Michelle Carter, recklessly caused the death of conrad roy. Did she cause his death when he was alone in the car 30 miles away. Reporter carters defense says she should go free, claiming she tried to help roy. But gave in by supporting his plan. The evidence will show it was mr. Roy who had a plan to take his own life. Reporter the tragedy, affecting roys mother, who took the stand tuesday, at one point, fighting back tears. He would say, hey, mom, can we talk . Reporter a devastating case where the judge must decide if words speak louder than actions. 40 states have laws criminalizing assisted or coerced suicide. But massachusetts isnt one of them. So, today, the defense is going to try to prove that roy acted alone. And theyre expected to bring Michelle Carters friends to the stand. Matt . Savannah . Amid a growing harassment investigation, the popular Ride Sharing Service has fired 20 employees. Jo ling kent is at the Company Headquarters in san francisco. Good morning. At least 20 people have been fired. And this may be the tip of the iceberg. This morning, at least 20 uber employees, including senior staffers, fired, after 200 climbs of Sexual Harassment, bullying and inappropriate behavior inside the company. All this sparked by former engineer, susan fowler, who had unwanted sexual advances from on a a supervisor. It was not only swept under the rug, she was told her boss was a highperformer who management wouldnt feel comfortable punishing. They launched an internal investigation, saying anyone who behaves this way or thinks its okay, will be fired. They also brought in eric holder to conduct an inquiry at the company. His findings to be publicly announced next week. It comes amid a personal and professional crisis for the ceo. His mother was killed in a boating accident, and his father injured. His company is n the crosshairs, in the grope culture and business tactics. He was the ceo that presided over this measure and he has to take responsibility. In this age of swiping, texting and clicking, it can seem like millennials date, and love differently than the generations before them. But we wanted to find out if that was true. This is crazy. Reporter we joined forces with the skin deep, a production studio that explores Human Connection in the digital age. Their series the and pairs couples, friends and strangers together to have honest and sometimes unexpected conversations. So, we worked with them on a social experiment of our own. We gathered this mixed age group of older generations and asked them a few questions about their younger counterparts. Theyre perfectly happy sitting and texting people on the phone instead of calling them. And im from the generation where, a gentleman never kisses and tells. Today, things are put on the internet that i just sit there and go, whoa. Reporter then, we shared their comments with a group of millennials we gathered and gave them a chance to respond. But the millennials didnt know the older group was watching and listening from a hidden room. Well, all the guys look better than me. So, im already in trouble. When it comes to relationships millennials prioritize convenience. While my generation prioritizes love. I think it depends on what you want. If you want something convenient, great. If your focus or wanting is on something else, you can go for that something else. Its convenience borne out of fear. Fear of getting closer to people. Fear of repeating the same mistakes that our parents made or our grandparents have made. Millennials communicate considerably more than my generation does. We feel like we have to be in constant communication. If im dating someone and im at work and they dont text me, i get stressed out. I feel the same way. I text my wife in the morning and i havent heard back. Why havent i heard back from her . If youre ghosting someone, then its like what does that mean . Ghosting. Its awful. Its cut off communication with someone. Millennials view marriage as unnecessary, while my generation views marriage as a necessary evil. Thats loaded right there. I think thats really harsh, actually. When its right, its right. When youre in love, youre in love. I dont think its an unnecessary thing. I think we assumed that was the natural step you take in order to have kids together. Millennials learn about sex from the internet, while my generation learned about sex from friends and a little from parents. Of course i get this question. Of course i do. Thats good. I wouldnt have learned from about sex from my parents. You know, i think thats for the best. Hey. How are you doing . Good. Now, it was time to bring the two groups facetoface. Being a representative of the older generation, one thats about to die, lets bring the other we have other folks. Youre watching these young folks talk. What was the first thing that struck you . How selfaware they are. And how nice that is, compared to our generation, i think. Speak for yourself. I agree. I agree. I was heartened and reassured. And it also reminded me about things in my generation, we might not have had terms like hookup or ghosting people. But i think in our ways, we found ways to push people away. So, it just made me feel actually very connected. The big difference i saw was, feelings about marriage. In my generation, really, the purpose of marriage was children. I didnt take the time, like you guys are, to get to know myself, to really decide what i wanted in a partner or not. We want to be happy with ourselves before we can be happy with someone else. And so, were getting rid of the time press. We said the relationships are more about convenience. And for our generation, love. Id say its love. And people can serve up themselves. Looking at the ingredients over there. Pretty easy. Not a lot to talk about. Small patties of ground beef. Small patties. All i did was season it with salt and pepper. Theres a million flavors in the sauce. So, once you get the patties going, you let them cook. I love the today show. Everything is ready. I can just keep moving down. Like an assembly line. After these have cooked, you save some of the juice they leave behind. Exactly. Thats where a lot of the flavor is. I take the patties out. And the sauce happens, with just onion, cook this around. I like to get the onions caramelized. Well speed forward. One of the key ingredients is whiskey. You can use beef broth if youre not into booze. Are you kidding me . Im giving options. Carson, have you ever substituted beef broth for whiskey . Never in my life, mr. Lawyer. Its too late in life to worry about doing that, carson. After this cooks down, i use barbecue sauce. Its a Good Convenience ingredie ingredient, and jarred jalapenos. This cooks for how long . For five minutes. Simmers away. This is what the sauce looks like. Beautiful and rich and thick. And the patties just go right in. Thats hot. Thats why they gave me a hot pad. I havent had all my coffee today. What i love about this is you let the patties simmer away in the sauce. And then, i have toasted buns, the guests come, spoon the sauce over the patties. We dont have to be neat. Get a little extra sauce on there. Pop it right in one of those. Im glad i dont have to be neat. Thats not in my nature. The buns are toasted. How do they taste, guys . Incredible. Like the best burger we have. Theyre so juicy. Can you hear . How is the meat so tender . It helps to simmer them in the sauce for a while. It imparts more of the beef flavor. And its so spicy, it has a kick to it. I have got a simple coleslaw with cabbage, peppers, carrots. If you want to sweeten it up, you can add some shredded apples. I like tradition aal slaw. Heres the big question. Ill poll our little team downstairs. Do you serve the coleslaw on the side . Or do you put the coleslaw on the slider. I put it on the slider. The sliders are so spicy. Im thrilled to be here. I love the ideas of making things quick. Theres not that much time, especially on a weekday. We want to eat healthy and have delicious food. But you want it to be fast. Lets get right to it. I love making salmon burgers from scratch because theyre yummier and more moist. You get salmon from the store. Burger buns. Dill pickles, greek yogurt and the toppings. What kind of salmon do you buy . I never know what to get. I try to go to alaskan salmon, if you can. You shop somewhere like whole foods. Not texas salmon, or Something Like that . It should not be trusted. Whats our first step . You take the skin off of the salmon, which your fishmonger can do for you. And you chop it up in little cubes. And you throw it into a cuisina cuisinart. Like the bears do it. You can do a little dill. And you can do parsley or cilantro. And then, dill pickles. And same sliced cscallions. I like to add salt, and some fresh pepper. And blend that together. You really only want to pulse it. And you only want to pulse it, i hacked it ten times. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten. Thats all it takes. It grinds it up but doesnt lick if liquid if i it. You add a little greek yogurt and late dijon. And you blend it a little more until its all blenlded together. How many pulses . Like five. Just five, dylan. Moving on. It turns out like this. You pulse it so it comes together. And then, you lift up, you know, your little patty like so. Okay. And you put it in a skillet. What kind of oil is in there . I use olive oil. You can spray canola oil or coconut oil. I have watched many people cook these. And people like to pester their bun. When the timer goes off, put it again and dont touch it. While thats happening, make the secret sauce for the burger. A little dill again. Some pickle juice from the pickle jar, really nice flavor. And then, a little hot sauce or sriracha, which i believe most people have nowadays. And you whisk that together. It makes this delicious sauce. And then how do you build the burger . You build the burger however you want. I like to make a little both sides with this. Like so. And some. We let you finish that.
