Saved by the zamboni crews are currently out there now resurfacing the rink in between skating sessions. They are dealing with a lot of water and puddles melting ice out here at times this afternoon this rink looked like a swimming pool. The huge puddles and blue cones out marking them off but people just went on through. We saw people ice skating in shorts, tank tops, you in a name it watching the crews resurface the ice was also interesting. The zamboni was out as crews used brooms to push the water out. One working says this happened once last year too so its not completely unusual. In addition to the ice skating, the holiday shops were out and open also adding to the weather confusion. Its wet. To a developing story in queens where an elderly woman was hit and killed by a charter bus. Residents in flushing say that there is too much traffic in this area and it is dangerous. I couldnt believe that cars were actually trying to go over the body its incredible reporter nypd investigators say the skyliner bus was headed to foxwoods in connecticut. Police later impounded a bus there they believe struck the mayor de blasio says its been a very tough week in new york. Eight new yorkers lost in crashes. The correction officer attacked Raymond Calderon was in the courtroom. You can see the 22 stitches on the left side of his face. This is how he looked after the brutal thursday afternoon attack. Investigators say 19yearold darnell green, who is jailed on a murder charge, put calderon in a head lock, then 18yearold William Whitfield jailed on an attempted murder charge allegedly slashed calderon with a sharp object. The lawyer for whitfield the alleged slasher told the judge his client didnt do it he says whitfield was in another part of the jail at the time of the attack and if being held down, he was in no position to identify whitfield as the slasher. The suspects are believed to be members of the bloods street gang. Rikers and all other city correction facilities were put on lockdown after the attack but word didnt reach many who tried to visit friday afternoon. Just months after doctors told her parents she had no chance to survive. Leila was given experimental therapy only used in mice. It manipulates the bodys immune cells to target cancer cells. She crossed the finish line of the marathon after dark on sunday night. And now she is shining a light on a very important cause. Cbs 2s Jennifer Mclogan introduces us to this inspiring grandmother. Rose began running, hiking, spa trips to raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma society.
