The violence took place in front of an applebees in downtown brooklyn. We are live from the scene with an update. Reporter just a few minutes ago, we spoke to a good friend of the victim who was here when it all happened. He says he and his friends had just grabbed pizza a few doors down and when they came down, they encountered another group. He says some kind of an argument ensued and then he heard guns. This video shows the the moments before a shooting. A group of teens takes off running down the sidewalk and seconds later, the group scatters and you can see one victim hopping away. And another shot in the head is left behind in a pool of blood in front of this busy restaurant. I held him. Reporter you held him . Yeah, he got shot in front of me. Just the kid on the stretcher, he got hit in the head. Really sad. His brother was crying. His family, his sister, whoever, it was really sad. Reporter Police Identify that victim shot in the head as a 16yearold and say he was pronounced at brooklyn hospital. Witnesses say it started as a fight between a large group of teen, possibly gang related. I was coming across the street, a bunch of young kids going crazy. I didnt see nothing that happened. Next thing you know, boom, boom, boom and that was it. Off. Reporter and the commotion left shell casings scattered along the sidewalk and one went through the parked white van. The stores say the teens are always disturbing the peace and police need to do more. Out of control. A bunch of animals. This is going to keep on patrol out here. Spoke to said that the victim is actually 17 years old despite police having said he was 16. And for the other victim, police say he is an 18yearold man who is now in stable condition. Cbs 2 news. Thank you. Happening today, a long island man will be arraigned on charges he tampered with red light cameras. The 42yearold will appear in court. He faces criminal tacherring and obstruction charges for using a long stick to push up the lens of the red light cameras so they no longer point at traffic. An amtrak spokesman saying in this statement, Amtrak Police and station management continue to work closely with the partners to balance compassion, engagement and assistance with Law Enforcement and Customer Service as it relates to the Homeless Population but amtrak refused to comment oncamera and didnt offer specifics on how the problem is being handled. A heartstopping day on the job for a tv news helicopter crew. A small plane went down yesterday in the florida everglades. The chopper from our sister station in miami was the first on the scene. The crew saw a passenger landing on the wing and they ran to the wreckage. Seeing the gentleman on the wing standing up was good news from my standpoint. We were relieved to see that somebody was there and Walking Around but then the other question was, is there anybody else onboard . What is their status . Police have identified a teen shot and killed during a fight in brook listen. The violence took place in front of the applebees in the crowded area. Reporter chris and mary, just a little while ago, we spoke to a friend of the victim who was killed in the shooting. He says he stopped to get pizza just a few doors down when his friends en encountered another group. He said he then heard gunshots. Gunshots went off and i held him. Just crawled his name. Screaming rocky, thats his nickname. And he just dropped as he twitched. Started crying. Reporter now Police Identified that victim shot in the head as a 16yearold and say he was pronounced dead at [ lynn hospital. Video shows the moments before the shooting. A group of teens take off running down the sidewalk on flatbush avenue and seconds later, the group scatters and you can see the second victim shot here. You can see him shot in the ankle, hopping away. And now the police have identified that victim as an 18 yearold. They say he is in stable condition at the hospital. Meanwhile, they are still searching for the shooter in this case. They say the family is devastated and they believe god will judge this man if the police do not catch the shooter. A South Carolina deputy is on administrative leave after he is caught on camera dragging a girl from her classroom. The video shows her throwing her to the floor and then dragging her across the room. He was called to the class to help escort the girl out. Now to a cbs 2 exclusive. A long island bus driver claims he was fired for reporting a potential danger to children. He says he had seen children running around near trucks at the middle school. He says he spoke up last year but claims nothing changed. When he brought his concerns to the superintendent, he says he was fired. Employer said he should have talked to his immediate supervisor. Dont fire me because im speaking about a safety issue. All im looking for is vindication. Why would you fire somebody who cares about the safety of the kids . He says he went directly to the district because he offered an open door policy. The bus company would not comment. A woman survives a terrifying crash after her car plunges 40 feet. The car barreled through a fence and fell into a construction site in yonkers yesterday. Workers had to scramble to get out of the way as the car hit nosefirst and rolled onto the roof. He was leaving her garage yesterday when the car suddenly accelerated through the fence, down an embankment and then over the fence. Another day of remembrances after a touching tribute last night. Community leaders and Police Standing side by side at nypd station houses across the city. A total of 37 minutes of silence last night, 33 minutes for each year of officer for each of the four nypd officers killed in the line of duty this past year. You dont stand alone. Law enforcement is not the enemy. We have to Work Together because we have to live together. Reporter today theyll begin saying their final good byes to the office, shot and killed in east harlem last week. Its been a tough week for everybody. Reporter monday investigators announced the gun used in the shooting had been recovered. It was around the clock grueling operation by the nypd harbor and scuba units searching 67,000 square feet of the harlem river in rough currents and near zero visibility, finally finding the the weapon sunday. So it was a relief. You know, and i know it was as soon as we brought it up, everybody just felt elated. Reporter officer holders fiance, his High School Sweetheart from guyana wanted to one day have more children of their own. I just wish that i had more time. But i am thankful for the time that i did have with him. Reporter and now the wake for officer holder will begin at 9 00 this morning here at the greater Allen Ame Church. That will run until 6 00 p. M. Tonight. His funeral will also take place here at the same church at 3 00 tomorrow the afternoon. And we should note that jetblue is offering to fly Police Officers from across the country here to new york free of charge if they want to attend the funeral. The violence took place in front of an apple bees. Reporter theyre hoping some Surveillance Video can help them catch a shooter. And a friend of the victim told us about what he saw that the cameras didnt. This video shows the moments before the shooting, a group of teens takes off running and seconds later, the group scatters and you can see one victim hopping away. And another shot in the head is left behind in a pool of blood in front of this busy restaurant. I held him. Reporter you held him . He got shot in front of me. The kid on the stretcher, he got hit in hi head. And it was really sad. His hit in his head and it was really sad. Reporter Police Identify the victim shot in the head as 16yearold Armani Hankins and say he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police say it started as a fight, possibly gang related. A bunch of young kids going crazy. They were fighting over there. And everybody was surrounding them. I didnt see nothing that happened. Next thing you know, just boom, boom, boom, and that was it is. And then we hear five or six shots go off. And all these crazy commotions. Reporter the commotion left shell casings scatter add long the sidewalk and one bullet went through the parked white van. Store employees say teens are always disturbing the police and the Police Disturbing the the peace and the police need to do more. This disturbing the peace and the police need to do more. Reporter police have identified the second victim as an 18yearold man in stable condition at the hospital. And they continue to search for the shooter and ask anyone with information to come forward. A small plane went down yesterday in the everglades. The chopper from our sister station in miami was the first on the scene. They landed the helicopter and ran to the wreckage. So the rising price of scrap metal has thieves targeting a cemetery. We have more now. Reporter headstone after headstone boasts the same empty hole. To do that to somebody, its heart wrenching what they do to the families. And they dont realize for a buck. Reporter bronze vases stolen from the cemetery. And its been happening for years. Off the top of my head, roughly about 3,000 vases stole lightning the course of vases stolen in the course of 15 years. Reporter he says about a month ago, 25 to 30 were stolen. The economy and the price of scrap metal has gone up. Reporter they cost hundreds of dollars. Its inverted into a recessed hole and when it stands up and is inverted, it locks in place. Reporter a small chain holds it down which can easily be broken. There are now cameras around the cemetery and they have been successful in capturing some images of those thieves. Here are some still images of one such thief. We decided to stop by scrap metal shops and both said they would buy one of these. We send them away. We do not tolerate that. I wouldnt accept it. Reporter for a while, the cemetery was replacing the vases at no cost to families but it became too expensive. It would cost a family about 275 to replace it but they have an option of using a plastic vase for free. He asks wouldbe robbers this think about your own mom and dad and grandmother and would want somebody doing this to them for a buck . The gunshots wednesday off and friend says he tried to help but no luck. The friend actually says that the victim who was shot died many his arms. Authorities have now confirmed that a gun found in the harlem river over the weekend is in fact the weapon used to kill officer holder last tuesday. A 30yearold woman was attacked as she jogged in the park before sunrise. The man dragged her to the shore of Long Island Sound behind bushes and long grass. She reported the attack after she ran home. The search is on for three men accused of impersonating Police Officers in bronx. Video shows the suspects entering an Apartment Building on Mayflower Avenue october 9th. Police say the men banged on the doors and identified themselves as officers. When they got inside, they handcuffed the victims and stole their cellphones. A long island bus driver reporting a potential danger to children. Willy touy said he saw children running around the trucks and he spoke up last year but claimed nothing changed. When he brought his concerns to the superintendent, he says he was fired. In a termination letter, his employer, the bus service, says she should have talked to his immediate supervisor. Dont fire me because im speaking out about a safety issue. The 7. 5 earthquake hit near the border with pakistan, killing more than 300 people, mostly in pack stab. Powerful aftershocks have been felt in the area. A South Carolina deputy is on administrative leigh this morning after he was caught on camera dragging a girl from her classroom. The video shows the deputy throwing the girl to the ground and then dragging her across the room. The resource officer was called to the class to help escort the girl out. Classmates say it started when she refused to put away her cellphone and leave the room. The student who recorded the incident and the sheriff called the video disturbing. Thats supposed to be somebody thats going to protect us, not somebody that we need to be scared of or afraid. Things like that. So it was definitely a scary experience. Of course we got to look at what happened that led up to it, that incident and then what happened afterwards. A second student was taken into custody when she tried to intervene in the arrest of the girl. The woman accused of driving into a homecoming parade near Oklahoma State university is being held on 1 million bond this morning. A Prosecutor Says it appears she purposely drove into the crowd on saturday. And four people were killed and dozens were injured. She was ordered to undergo a psychological evaluation. Her lawyer says she was hospitalized two years ago for a mental illness. Some of your favorite breakfast favorites could be hazardous to your health. Scientists say people who fill up on processed foods like bacon, sausage and hot dogs are at risk for colon, stomach and other cancers.
