This is where they found the suitcase and this morning, the man police say was holding that suitcase is now in jail. Our crew was there yesterday as they walked 58 James Derepentigny away in handcuffs. Hes charged with planting a hoax at the vice. Police started looking for him yesterday after a homeland Security Officer saw him place that suitcase next to the officers vehicle and run away. And a source also telling fox 25 derepentigny also took a selfie as he dropped that suitcase off. They immediately closed this section off and if used a robot to detonate that suitcase. They didnt find any explosive device inside. But they did find wires and a radio source, in that suitcase, several hours later in lawrence, an officer found a suspect description. The District Attorneys Office tells us the victim was a 35yearold webster woman named marie martin. Thomas hogan is facing charges for misleading investigators in the case. They are still looking for one person in connection with his death. Another man is in custody but no murder charges filed. Because police still say its unclear who fired the shots that killed cherry. But this is where they found that suitcase. And for security purposes, they actually used a robot to move that suitcase across the street in those bushes where they detonated that suitcase. This morning, the man police say put it there is now in jail. And our crews were there yesterday request as Police Walked 58yearold James Derepentigny away in handcuffs. Hes now charged with planting a hoax device. Now police began searching for him yesterday after a homeland Security Officer saw him place that suitcase near the officers vehicle. And then run away. Not only that, a source told fox 25 derepentigny even took a selfie as he dropped that suitcase off. Area of atlantic avenue and again used that robot to detonate the suitcase. They didnt find an explosive device inside. But they did find wires and a power source, like a radio in that suitcase. Police immediately alerted other agencies in the area. An officer spotted a man drop a suitcase next to an officials car and just take off. Heather hegedus Stephanie Coueignoux has been on live all morning. The shes down on atlantic avenue where it all went down. Good morning stephanie. Reporter as we were here last night, two home land Security Officers were parked right outside this building. They have left this morning. This is where they found this suitcase, they actually shut down the entire section of atlantic avenue and they moved that suitcase with a robot across the street right here in the bushes. That is where they detonated that suitcase. This morning, the man police say put the suitcase here is now in jail. Yesterday as Police Walked 58yearold James Derepentigny away in handcuffs. Police began searching for him yesterday after a homeland Security Officer placed that suitcase next to the officers vehicle and then run away. And not only that, but a source told fox 25 that he even took a selfie when he dropped that suitcase off. Police again immediately closed off this area of atlantic avenue and, again, used that robot to detonate the suitcase, they didnt find an explosive device inside they did, however, find wires and a power source inside, Something Like a radio. Police alerted other agencies in the area. And several hours later, in lawrence thats when an officer description. I kept him on the ground at gunpoint, until back up officers arrived and they placed handcuffs on him. It happened after a driver realized he was transporting a package addressed to the home of the couple accused of wednesdays mass shooting. You can see police swarming the scene, bomb technicians inspected the package. They were able to determine it was not a threat. Heather hegedus this happening as the fbi officially taking the lead on the San Bernardino shooting. The agency says it is treating terrorism. Holiday office party, the couple involved, though, was not on any sort of terrorist watch list in this country. This is our first look at tashfeen malik, the wife involved in the attack. She has face booked to pledge they are allegegance to isis during the shooting. She carried it out with her husband, syed farook, new this morning, reuters is claiming the pair is followers of the terrorist group but the u. S. Government says theres no evidence that isis even knew of attack. Eric rasmussen the couple targeted farooks coworkers opening fire on a Holiday Party for the San Bernardino Environmental Health department. In the end, 14 people dead, 21 more hurt. He used his body as a human shield wrapping his arms around a woman and reassuring her, ultimately taking a bullet. Johnsons girlfriend says shes not surprised he died a hero. She also says prior to this, he was actually friends with the the shooter, farook, johnson and farook often spoke about religion and johnson told his girlfriend farook would sometimes get upset if someone disrespected his religion. Eric rasmussen a real motive for the shooting might still be unclear. As we said moments ago, the fbi is treating this as terrorism. It hits close to home for people here in boston. With that in mind, fox 25 checked in with Boston Police commissioner to find out what the city is doing to keep people safe. The commissioner tells Us Intelligence work is the best way to stop terrorism before it happeneds but in cases the Police Department has been trained to deal with shooting situations. Prosecutors say hogan is also a suspect in martins death. New this morning, a man and his four children are being checked out for smoke inhalation after an Early Morning fire in london bury. Crews called to the house at 2 30 for a kitchen fire that spread to the attic. Heather hegedus meantime, developing this morning, the cause of that deadly fire in lynn still being investigated. Witnesses may be the ones who hold the key to figuring out how far it all started. Investigators are hoping there is some inish video somewhere out there, shot by a witness perhaps on a cell phone that could help them figure out four people were killed, two more hurt in the fire. The Fire Department tells fox 25 about 20 people lived in that building. And in concord, New Hampshire another deadly fire also being investigated, this one around 3 yesterday afternoon, on rum ford street. Kelly kurt tee was killed, others unh students, made it out to safety. Eric rasmussen Jephthe Chery was killed just a day before his 30th birthday. Police say he was caught in the cross fire of a gun fight outside of a bar on yawkey way. Cherrys funeral will happen in mattapan at 9 a. M. Police still looking for one person in cherrys death. Another man in custody but no murder charges filed because police say still unclear who fired the shot that killed cherry. Developing this morning, if you take a look at your screen, missing after last being seen six days ago, 21yearold Dennis Njoroge about five foot seven with a thin build. Contact police if you find him. Heather hegedus alarming information from brockton about a bomb threat there. A 15yearold is facing charges for allegedly hacking another students Facebook Page and putting up the post before quickly taking it down. Now, we are learning other students saw that post, even took a picture of it, then did nothing. Those students didnt go to School Wednesday after seeing the threatening post tuesday night. But they also didnt tell any adults about it until thursday. This was the fifth bomb threat at Brockton High School just in the last eight months. This as Cambridge Police are investigating a series of threats made against their School District as well. This week there were three anonymous emails sent, two threatening gun violence, another threatening a bomb. The police think the first two came from the same person. This is where police say that man put that suitcase, and they used a robot to move that across the street on atlantic avenue and put it in the you are abouts where they detonated it James Derepentigny taken away in handcuffs last night after police say he put a suitcase next to Homeland Security vehicle and ran. Why did you do that, gentleman ims . No comment. Reporter before derepentignys arrest, police swarmed the area along atlantic avenue, while the bomb squad used a robot to detonate the suitcase. We heard it. It was pretty loud. Thats still unsettling for a lot of people. We know with the marathon event that happened a couple years ago. Reporter a source told fox an explosive device. Meantime several miles away, an officer spotted derepentigny walking down the street and took immediate action in lawrence. I kept him on the ground at gunpoint until back up officers arrived. They also told us, theyve arrested him several times before. And when we looked into derepentignys history. We found two other incidents. One in 2007 involving trespassing in florida. Reporter and heather, much quieter this morning, in fact, when i was here, last night, with he saw two homeland Security Officers right parked use of this building right here. This morning, theyre now gone. But this is where Boston Police found that suitcase. And then for safety sake, they used a robot to move that avenue. They put it there in the bushes and thats where they detonated there. Meantime this morning, the man our crews were there yesterday as Police Walked 58yearold James Derepentigny in handcuffs. They searched for him yesterday after homeland Security Officers watched him place that suitcase against the Security Officers vehicle and ran away. A source telling fox 25 derepentigny even took a selfie when he dropped that suitcase off. Police immediately closed this section of atlantic avenue and they used that robot to detonate the suitcase. They didnt find an explosive device inside. But they did find wires and also a power source in that suitcase. Police immediately alerted authorities in the area and a few hours later in lawrence, thats when an officer spotted a man matching derepentignys description. Just that i didnt want to approach him. I didnt handcuff him myself. I kept him on the ground at gunpoint until back up officers arrived and they placed to show you that photo. Again, you can see Officers Holding him down on the ground at gun point. Now they did tell us that he was cooperative during his arrest. Scheduled to appear in court on monday. It happened after a driver realized he was transporting a package addressed to the home of the couple accused of wednesdays mass shooting.
