fbi to describe a virus that's infacting people's computers, resulting in dozens of complaints to the internet crime center every day. the ic3 says the virus gets the description because of activating a bad link, it installs itself when you click on an compromised wen site. according to the feds, your computer freezes and locks with a message that says you've violated federal law and have been identified as being associated with child porn or other illegal activity. to get out of trouble, they say you essentially have to pay a ransom. in this case paying a bogus fine with a prepaid card or money order. the scammers say if you don't pay you'll face criminal charges and your computer will stay locked. people have been paying the fines. if your computer freezes with the mal ware don't give
