And the federal judge issued the order last night after lawyers for the American Civil Liberties union filed a Court Petition on behalf of families from the banned countries. Yesterday a federal judge in new york issued an emergency order temporarily barring the u. S. Border agents from deporting pl third, the judges action is important because foreignborn u. S. Residents who could have been barred from reentering the United States under the immigration order have been allowed back into the country. Finally, something weve been seeing at Dulles International are people with temporary restraining order papers. They were granted by a u. S. District judge and require all permanent legal u. S. Residents to be permitted lawyers, as is required by federal law. As we just saw and heard from derrick ward, there are several lawyers standing by at Dulles International airport right now. Adam . Thank you, angie. And President Trump says his immigration crackdown is not a muslim ban. He was asked about his executive order yesterday, specifically whether the government was prepared to implement it. Heres what he said before many of the protests we saw erupted overnight. Were totally prepared to work it out very nicely. You see it at the airports. You see it all over. Its working out very nicely. Were going to have a very, very strict ban, and were going to have extreme vetting, which we should have had in this president s executive order to be a big topic this morning on meet the press. Moderator chuck todd will have an exclusive interview with virginia senator tim kaine. Chuck is going to join us for a preview of the show in about ten minutes. The challenges now being faced at airports from east to west. Well, protests have broken out at airports across the United States as many people are taking a stand against President Trumps immigration crackdown. To the protest in los angeles at l. A. X. Reporter walking out among protesters after ten hours on an immigration hold, this woman is grateful to be back home and free to leave l. A. X. It was really hard to stay there for ten hours and do nothing. At first they told us we have to go back to our country. Reporter she has been in the country for six years and has a green card. And were expecting more here in the washington area. Stay with us and the nbc washington app. Even when were off the air, were always updating that, especially when it comes to weather. Thats the number one reason why people go onne were seeing a few flurries right now. Were looking at a few flurries moving through the region. Not going to amount to much. Were going to see more snow showers after about 4 00 p. M. There are also going to be more rain showers as well. Were dry for much of the day, especially the midday hours. Not expecting much accumulation at all. Were talking about a dusting to an inch. But Everybody Knows how d. C. Works. If we even get a little bit, that could be enough to kind of halt that morning commute. So again, there could be some delays tomorrow morning. Were going to continue to see scattered snow showers through the day tomorrow, mainly a breezy northwest wind. Were quiet into next week. Temperatures, low 40s here inside the beltway. Outside, were looking at 30s right now. Here is a few flurries that moved through the area. Once we got over the chesapeake bay, they turned to a little bit of rain. Again, the shenandoah valley, they were seeing a few flurries. Thats not going to amount to much. Vdot is out there treating the roads. Temperatures are going to top out in the mid40s today,hi mark. As we get this rain and snow moving in after 4 00 or 5 00, its just going to be wet for the evening. If youre driving around. Monday morning, we could have slick spots as that road temperature drops to about 32 degrees. Tomorrow night were also looking just a little on the wet side. 5 00 p. M. , rain showers to the south. A few snow showers there in the shenandoah valley. Widely scattered throughout the evening, but after midnight, that temperature drops. This is where we could get a coating to an inch. That is it. A few snow showers around through the day tomorrow. Those blustery northwest winds. Temperatures tomorrow only in the upper 30s. Its going to feel like the 20s with those winds. Again, most areas under an inch but still leave some time for that morning commute. If youre headed out to church or brunch, looking good. Everybody do their homework, including teachers, do your lesson plans. Maybe a few delays, but for the most part not going to see any cancellations. Temperatures in the 30s for tomorrow. Scattered snow showers throughout the day. Windy on tuesday. Were around 50 on tuesday, maybe rain showers north. We are quiet maybe a few snow showers sunday into monday of next weekend. All right. Thank you very much, lauryn. Well, President Trump is facing a big backlash this morning for his executive order cracking down on immigration into the u. S. Protests erupted at airports all over the country last night, denouncing the president s move. We want to bring in moderator of meet the press chuck todd to talk about this because we know that one lawsuit has already been filed. Theres really a big debate over the legality of all this. We know in the past, president s have been granted the power to decide who comes in and out of the country based off National Security. There is, and i think look, its the scope of the order thats in question here. He has some power. The question is did he go too far with the executive order. Look, even Mitch Mcconnell has been quoted this morning as saying, you know, this is probably going to get decided in the courts to decide what laws apply, what is the scope of all this. If you look, for instance, the issue of green card holders. Are they impacted or not . Im going to preview of my back and forth with reince priebus. Hone honestly, its unclear. He says Going Forward it wont apply but as far as department of Homeland Security is concerned, theyve been told it does apply. So theres question there. Heres the way its most likely to play out. There will be multiple lawsuits at some point. Some judge will issue a stay completely. There will be an appeal. We know where this is headed. Its going to take the Supreme Court to decide the power, just like with many of president obamas actions. Some of them the courts would allow to go through, some they would say, you know what, Supreme Court needs to make this decision. What about the speed of all this . It even seemed to catch the department of Homeland Security off guard. This is where i feel as if the administration here doesnt really have a good answer on the speed. On one hand, they say theres a sense of urgency to this. If theres a sense of urgency, then they left off a bunch of countries that should have belonged on there. If it was so ur, why did they wait until day seven . The other part is why wasnt there a 72hour window, Something Like that, just to deal with the administration aspects of all this, administratively. Youll hear from reince priebus, he has an answer on that, that he believes is a good one when it comes to that. But it doesnt seem to i think they could have avoided a lot of this chaos had they at least built in a 48hour window. This executive order is one thats dominating a lot of conversations, but we cant forget there were other executive orders taken, including giving a role to his chief strategist on the National Security council. What strikes you about that move . Look, i think that is something and this is sort of a side piece. If people want to understand who is among the chief brains behind the Trump Administration right now, it is steve bannon. This is Steve Bannons world view that was in that inauguration speech. Its Steve Bannons thats been wording these executive orders. It was steve bannon that said, no, green card holders should be a part of this. So he is playing a huge role. He wants to be on the National Security council. The president is bringing in politicaled advisers is not unusual. What was unusual is the decision to make the chairman of the joint chiefs and the director of National Intelligence less than fulltime members. Now, the chief of staff, to me, said no, no, no, they can go to my meeting they want. Okay. That does not seem to be what the order said. There was some confusion there. Perhaps hes saying they can come to any meeting and thats going to be how they manage it. That, to me, was the more striking aspect. Bringing on an aide, that doesnt surprise me. David axelrod would be there informally all the time. We always say you need more time. Today you need more time. Between mexico, the wall. Phone calls with russia. Theres a lot to talk about. The media, tim kaine wait until you hear from tim kaine. He spent a lot of time on steve bannon. Its all coming up in ten minutes. Chuck, thanks for stopping by. Police say that two men were found dead at the blue sunday bar and grill. A third man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. No word yet on how they died or a suspect. Today firefighters will be taking a look at what caused a fire to break out in the Old Middle School. Flames broke out early this morning in the former gymnasium. No one was hurt. President trump signed three new executive orders yesterday. The focus on lobbying, reorganizing the National Security council, and preparing a plan to defeat isis. Snowflakes potentially moving in, lauryn. Yeah, but most of the midday hours will be dry. Were expecting snow and rain showers because temperatures will be in the 40s today. Highs in the 30s for tomorrow. Most areas under an inch for accumulation. Its going to be a blustery afternoon, so were going to keep snow showers in through the day tomorrow. But again, were not much. Leave extra time for that morning commute. I do believe kids will have school, teachers will have school. So do your homework. This is more of a timing thing. It coincides with the morning commute. Then we can get into trouble. Exactly. But theyre already out there pretreating the roads. Its going to help quite a bit. Plus, the winds will pick up tomorrow. Thatll dry everything out. Sorry, kids. All right. Thank you for joining us for news 4 today. Meet the press is next. Have a great sunday, everybody. This sunday, President Trumps partial ban on muslim immigration. We want to make sure that we are not admitting into our country the very threats our soldiers are fighting overseas. We have all the latest. Plus President Trumps whirlwind first week in office. On mexico look, the wall is necessary. Thats not just politics. On crowd size that was all of the way back down to the washington monument. And on his unsupported claim of voter fraud. We will launch an investigation to find
