New this morning, a Senior Administration official tells nbc news the president will sign an executive order to prioritize the removal of criminal aliens and construct a new barrier along the southern wall with mexico. This is a small piece of the 700 miles of secure border fencing we have in the united states. The rest of the u. S. Mexico border is relatively unprotected. It doesnt have a fence, it has border parole. Mr. Trump has said he wants a border wall. He wants to mexico to pay for it. This part of the fence costs 6. 8 million to make residents around here will tell you they have seen people cb it was a constant refrain we heard during his campaigns. Pop chanting build the wall, build the wall. People in this region, people that live along the border that we have spoken to say they dont think a border wall will be particularly effective unneless its patrolled. This fence is straight into mexico. People can climb over this in about 20 seconds. But it remains to be seen how much an actual border wall will cost. Estimates are 8 billion to 10 billion right now. Donald trump saying he wants mexico to pay for it. Mexico saying they are not going to help with these costs. Back to you. Thank you. Monday President Trump telling congressional leaders he lost the popular vote because of the allegedly illegal votes. Sean spicer said a 2008 study by the Pugh Research center supported the claim that a High Percentage of people were noncitizens. We can tell you this morning, both those claims are false. According to the findings of authorities. There was no major voter fraud in this election. Thats typical. Its rare for people to take the personal risk of breaking the law to vote when theyre not authorized. Republican and democratic officials oversee voting in all 50 states. They responded to the latest claims reiterating theres no evidence that supports the voter fraud claims made by President Trump. What about the one specific study mr. Spicer mentioned . Its not entirely clear which he was referring to. What spicer was said a study out of pew in 2008. There was a pew accuracy of government voting records, not voter fraud from 2012. Finding 24 million records were inaccurate because voters died or had been inactive. The paper records are not evidence of fraud. When aides wrongly claimed back in november the study showed there was fraud. There author stressed his report had no findings about fraud. He spoke out again tuesday saying theres zero evidence of fraud in the latest election. In the past team trump has cited a 2008 survey that found 14 of noncitizens telling pollsters they voted in 2008 and 2010. That survey did not prove in person voter fraud either. In any event it was in 2010, not about this 2016 election. Bottom line trump and his aides have reason to know all of this evidence and reason to know they are currently mischaracterizing it. That makes the repetition of these falsehoods stated with the authority of the u. S. Government all the the scope of the allegations would seem to warrant an investigation. The white house wont rule that out but says there isnt one right now. Thats the most concerning part. Move aside from the fact check and say, here you have the government representative saying there were three to five million crimes occurred and at the same time theyre not going to investigate or prosecute them. Nbcs Steve Kornacki has a closer look at three names in the running. Lets talk first about what is going to need to happen in order to push through his nominee and what kind of fight can President Trump expect from democrats . The fight over the fight. You have the rule in the senate traditionally the filibuster if the Opposition Party doesnt like the president s pick they can force you to get 60 votes. Theres been chipping away on that by the democrats. Erin andrews was reportedly shocked after doctors revealed she had Cervical Cancer follng the reporter and host of dancing with the stars shared details of her cancer battle, published in this weeks sports illustrated. Doctors made it clear this is something that you need today address and address it soon. Days after her first surgery andrews was back on the sideline reporting. Should i have been standing for a full game five days after surgery . Probably not but sports was my escape. Her diagnosis came months after winning a judgment against a stalker and a National Hotel who secretly filmed her naked in a room and posted it online. Theres a pain you cannot see. Every day she lives with this. Theres a paranoia, a fear, a distrust, theres a part of her privacy that was violated. Everyone kept telling her how strong she was. She said her cancer diagnosis made her start to believe them. Hey, i have cancer, but dammit i am strong and i can do this, andrews said. She never missed a game during her Cancer Treatment and didnt tell her colleagues until after her second surgery in november. Got great news after the second procedures and the doctors made it clear they would not need to be radiation or chemotherapy. Cancer is unpredictable. Shell have to go for regular check ups. She and her doctors are cautiously optimistic. Andrews has won again with the same strength and tenacity shes shown through her career. Doctors said her margins were clear. And more good news, erin got engaged in december. And he was with her when she was going in for surgery and she was saying im going to the next game. Dead at the hands of her drunken former boyfriend. Sentenced to 23 years in prison, no chance for patrol. His mother, marta who made a brief statement after trial is this morning, breaking her silence. Why are you speaking out now . Janet, i would never have spoke initially out of ec secondly, because i wanted i believed our criminal Justice System works. And the criminal Justice System gets it right. But it doesnt always get it right. She says her son should have been convicted of the lesser charge of involuntary manslaughter. Hughly admitted to grabbing her by the neck but didnt choke her. She said the injuries came from her falling off the bed. He had absolutely no intent to hurt her. She was his best friend. Show points out to what prosecutors said after the trial. Monday we checked in with hoda and a life coach who is trying to get her to be more mindful. This morning its about craig melvin. Good to see you. I was a bit skeptical before this. Ive tried meditation before this. Never really stuck. But my coach is a fellow named andy, the cocreator of head space. He makes it easy and accessible for everyone. Even me. From breaking news to working out, to spending te family. Life can get pretty busy. And sometimes a little overwhelming. You got your work cut out. That excites me. Does it . Full disclosure ive tried a number of times to meditate. Focusing can be very hard for me. Meditation is not about changing your life necessarily or changing the way you live. Its more about how can you live the life that youre living with a greater sense of calm and perspective. Over the 30 days id love you to get to a point where you feel less stressed more rested. More present, less distracted. If we accomplish one of those, i would well take it. Absolutely. Absolutely. The first part of andys plan is meditation. Using just t find my inner zen. Breathe in through the nose. Our job over time is not to stop thoughts from arising, its to get comfortable with thoughts arising. And not getting caught up in them. The second part is mindfulness. Small things i can do every day to feel more at ease like journaling, listening to music and doing something kind for a stranger. Even in one of new york citys busiest subway stations. Temptation is to think that we need to go and find a quiet place. If you know how to bring your mind kind of into your body and be more present, you can do it right here. Never mind. Never mind all these people and all the distractions and the adverts and everything else. Andy showed me how to be more mindful while walking. And even drinking coffee. If you can take 60 seconds to just focus on the physical senses. The smell of it. The taste of it. The temperature of the cup. They sound like really small things. But we spend so little time aware of those things. And the more time were aware of them, the more present we are. Good coffee. My favorite . How to be more mindful with my phone. By turning off notifications. You know how often you need to check your phone. The problem is, every time we get a notification, it does something to us. It gives us a rush of dope meme. It trains the brain to want more distraction. I was looking at it more often. If i moved social media to the next page, its crazy, its a page away. There likely to go and check things. Thats genius. I never thought about that. Clean up your home screen. That makes sense, as im talking to you my phone and vibrating. At the end of the 30 days you will have found three or four keys to mindfulness you can take away with you and use in your every day life. So i learned really great tips. My two biggest priorities have been making time every morning for a few minutes of silence. Doesnt have to be a lot of time and limiting how much i use my phone, especially at home. The fitness tips have been great. The nutritional tips have been great. But this, this is not hyperbole. This has been transformative, life changing for me. That ten minutes sitting there what do you do when thoughts are kicking around . Explain that part. At first it it is very difficult to stop your mind from wandering. This morning when i did it, find your mind wantdering and just pull your mind back. Its helped me focus, concentrate. Be more present during conversations. I listen to music now.
