Unity-based auctioneer Mark Ferry named Pa. auctioneer of the year

A Unity-based auctioneer has received the top award from the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association.
Mark Ferry was named auctioneer of the year by the state organization during a yearly conference and meeting in Harrisburg. According to a news release, Ferry was awarded the honor for his leadership, high ethical standards, willingness to share with others and participation in the community.
“I was dumbfounded, at a loss for words,” said Ferry, 65. “I didn’t see it coming.”
Ferry has been in the business for 45 years. After graduating from high school, Ferry apprenticed in the auction business, becoming state licensed in 1979, according to his website. Ferry noted that he is a first-generation auctioneer in his family.
