Reporter the crime happened here on 10th street and as you can imagine people in the neighborhood are very nervous because police say the suspect broke into the victims apartment from the fire escape. Surveillance cameras in her building caught him seconds later. Take a look. Police want everyone in the west village on alert for this suspect. They say he walked behind this building at tenth and hudson at 5 a. M. Thursday and went up the fire escape, and went into a womans apartment through an open window. Frightening since he is accused of groping that 43 yearold sleeping in her bedroom. She woke up to this and a stranger took off. She was telling me, you know, that she was asleep and then she opened her eyes and it was like a dream to her and she saw the man in front of her. Reporter the building superintendent tells us he tried calming her down after getting violated. How concerning is this that its happening in your building . This is the first time in 25 years. Reporter another concern, this happened right across the street from the 6th precinct and Police Rushed over as soon as they got a call for help. Seem very frazzled. Describing what happened, how she woke up and there was a man in her apartment. Reporter people in the neighborhood frazzled too because the suspect hasnt been found. She and another girl fell into the water while tubing behind a motorboat on the long island sound. The 17yearold female driver of the boat turned to pick them up when the boat hit the tubers. Lewis is charged with violating boating regulations and fined 150. A health alert on long island a mosquito sample from a Suffolk County park tested positive for west nile virus p suspend activities from 6 to 10 p. M. At one park. But in the long run, i think people will come to see that they have joined a stronger more vibrant parish by bringing together two small communities of faiths. Reporter next it appears as the driver in the red car intentionally comes to a complete stop on the busy long island expressway eastbound past the springfield boulevard exit in queens. The white suv rams into the red car pushing it out of the way before taking off. I took my phone out because im like whats going to happen . I got nervous. It seems like people are more stressed than ever. Reporter aaa says with more drivers on the roads, longer commutes, construction, traffic, distracted driving, even being cut off or having a bad day, all of that can add up to a case of road rage. We live in a very crowded congested city and driving in those kind of conditions can lead to incidents happening a lot. Investigators say its starting to look more likely that the plane debris discovered off the coast of madagascar is that of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight 370. That 6footlong section of an airplane wing is being examined in france. The part was discovered wednesday on the French Island of reunion. Sources say investigators are confident the wing part is from a boeing 777 airplane. The flight from kuala lumpur to beijing vanished in march 2014 with hundreds of people on board. Earlier today, it actually looked much worse. The fountain outside the iconic new york courthouse is mart of a sculpture called triumph of the human spirit. From a distance its inviting but up close gross. That water is so filthy. I usually dont see fountains this dirty. This is really bad. Hopefully we are not in inhaling anything from it. Reporter its tempting for kids making parents cringe you. Wouldnt want your daughter close to that water. No. Reporter this morning, we found all kinds of garbage and mystery debris in the fountain. We reached out to the Parks Department which told us the fountain does get drained and deep cleaned once a year. And it gets replenish and skimmed once a week. Sure enough, a couple of hours later a Parks Department worker came along to pick out the junk with a net. He wasnt authorized to speak with us but the parks Department Says the weekly cleaning doesnt get the algae out in the hot sunny weather. Folks say theres no excuse for this. They should do something about that. A nice area like this all these nice buildings . Come on. Reporter the parks Department Says the fountain isnt getting its annual deep clean until october. The citys Parks Department tells us it welcomes 311 calls from the public if anything looks like it needs attention new information on dozens of cars vandalized in massapequa. Nassau county police have now released this Surveillance Video of the vandal. It shows him using a sharp instrument like a key to scratch the side and hood of a car damage pg 1 cars on cameo damaging 31 cars on cameo drive. He acted alone. The accused South Carolina Church Shooter pleaded guilty today against his will. Dylann roof was brought to federal court in charleston for his arraignment in the case of nine people gunned down. His attorney said roof wanted to plead guilty to 33 charges but the attorney entered a not guilty plea on his clients behalf says before he can advise his client he needs to know whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty. A florida man was arrested after crashing into a barricade at the u. S. Capitol. The front of the car was crumpled after the crash.
