Storm tracker6 live double scan still showing that you most of this rain is still off the coast and the way things are looking now, the rain is probably going to stay largely off the coast with just an inland shower popping through at times. But generally speaking light rain down at the beach. Tropical storm jose excuse me hurricane jose which will be coming a Tropical Storm is a little farther off the coast this morning which is good for us. Tropical storm watch in effect on the water but not on the beach. 69 degrees in allentown, 67 in reading. 70 in trenton, 70 in wilmington, 71 in cape may. As we go through the day mostly cloudy skies, some sunny breaks possible. 74 by noon. And 77 is your high by 3 oclock. By 7 oclock, were Still Holding onto the 70s. Might be a little bit humid at times out there for you. On the bus stop this morning not too bad. 67 in the suburbs, 71 in center city. So the kids can probably get away with just a light jacket and that will do em fine. As we take a look at the effects the the shore right now the gusts are in the 20s in places like Atlantic City, cape may, beach haven, probably not getting as strong a gust down there at the shore as was originally appearing but i think the 30s are pretty easy and maybe up into the 40s occasionally. We also have a coastal Flood Warning with high tides between 7 15 and 8 15. Thats going to be minor flooding in most cases there. But by the time you get to the evening high tide between 7 30 and 8 30 were looking at moderate coastal flooding in the back bays, the ocean fronts and theres an advisory in in the upper bay. Breaker about eight to 10 feet will give you rip currents, real high risk of that today and probably beach erosion and real heavy surf. Even without a lot of rain we could see some coastal coastl flooding. Were keeping a close eye on the coast right now. Live on the garden state parkway at the cape may toll plaza its quiet. Were still dry with no issues on the parkway with light volume right now. The vine street expressway was closed overnight for construction and now we can see westbound, eastbound reopened. Moving just fine. All your ramps have reopened so looking a lot better right now on the vine but the crews will return again tonight at 11 oclock and theyll be shutting the vine down in both directions so well watch for that closure later on tonight. Live on the schuylkill expressway at the blue route, all the construction we had on the schuylkill and it was a lot of it, has all cleared so traffic now moving a lot better on the schuylkill expressway with no problems currently right here and on the big picture seeing speeds mostly in the 50s at this point on the blue route, schuylkill, i95 and you see traffic is moving pretty good. The phils play tonight at 7 05. Extra congestion in south philadelphia but not just yet, tam. Okay, thank you, karen. And of course were keeping our eye on whats going on with the effects of hurricane jose making life a little bit feisty down the shore in new jersey and delaware. Lets go to Jeanette Reyes shes live in ocean city with what conditions look like there. Good morning, jeanette. Reporter good morning, tam. As of right now, its more of a nuisance. Once you get in the water its pretty dangerous. The gusts have been picking up steadily throughout the morning here. Take a live look behind me. I want to show you those flags again because of course you cant feel it but you can see the effects its having out here. Theyre kind of coming and going but again they steadily picked up throughout the day. The surf is pretty rough and we can expect some rip currents as well throughout the day. I want to get to some video really quickly though. We saw a man shoring up the dunes this morning. Thats of course another concern, beach erosion is something weve talked about all morning. And something well certainly look out for and i want to show you the waters just one more time. I know its pretty dark but from what we can see, its pretty rough surf. Weve been advising people to stay out of the waters and you might be asking for a lot of people this is common sense but believe it or not weve seen people, it usually happens, they still try and get in these waters. It is going to be really dangerous today, something you certainly want to avoid at all costs but we do expect people understandably to come out onto the boardwalk and take a look at some of the weather activity that were expecting to see this morning. Of course well keep you posted as soon as we see some weather changes out here. Reporting live in ocean city, Jeanette Reyes channel6 action news. Thank you jeanette. Rough surf is building in Rehoboth Beach delaware. Waivers came crashing around high tide last night. A few brave swimmers did take a dip but didnt venture far. The next high tide in rehoboth is at 8 00 a. M. Look at it dont get in. First signs of damage from Hurricane IrmaHurricane Maria. It came ashore in dominica late last night as the category five. The Prime MinisterRoosevelt Skerrit fears most of these homes you see in this tape theyre destroyed. Skerrit had to be rescued when winds tour the roof from him home. He and other officials are waiting until day break to assess all the damage and to start the search for survivors. The storm is now moving towards the Virgin Islands and puerto rico where it could be a direct hit. Aside from Power Outages the u. S. Territory was largely spared the worst from irma. But now the 450 shelters that were opened for irma theyre staying opened and in place for maria. When it comes, whats going to happen later . How we going be . You know, thats the worst is the aftermath. Rationing of basic food and supplies is now in effect and fema officials plan to stay and do whatever they can to help with that recovery. So along the shore a lot of high tides occurring in about two or three hours or so could see some flooding from that. Youre going to start seeing minor flooding in some spots this morning. I think the bigger issue will be the evening high tide where if you have property or cars in those normally flooded areas, moderate flooding is possible so even some of the places that dont usually flood in the minor situation might flood later tonight. Theres storm tracker6. You can see some rain that is trying to push in off the ocean. These are the outer rain bands of hurricane jose which is still pretty far away down to the south and west and at times were getting a light sprinkle pushing in off the ocean but most of this stuff is stopping a little short of the shore and probably will for a good portion of the day. As we take a look outside, we have cloudy skies across the region and there is Atlantic City and were looking at some blustery winds blowing in off the ocean down out of the northeast. These flags almost looking like theyre pushing back out towards the ocean a little bit there if thats the boardwalk im looking at correctly and old glory waving in the wind down the shore. Fortunately the Tropical Storm watch has been dropped at the shore over land. Its still in effect in the water for mariners because the storm is tracking a little bit farther weigh from us. 71 degrees in philadelphia, 70 in wilmington, upper 60s right now in allentown reading and lancaster and 71 in cape may. Hurricane jose still a category one hurricane took a little jog toward the shore but it is still on that expected track going past us as a Tropical Storm later today and tonight and spinning around and dying down as an extra tropical low well off the coast over the weekend but today is really the impact day, maybe into wednesday morning we get a little wind down there but the rain should be gone and things get better tomorrow. Future tracker6 showing you that most of the rain is going to stay off the coast today. There might occasionally be a little zip of it down the shore. There could even be a band that opens up farther inland briefly but generally speaking rain is not much of an issue with this storm. And the latest projections are for less than half of an inch and even the worst in even the worst hit spots but we still have impacts along the coast. We have breaking waivers right on the beach between eight and 10 feet. Now, thats going to cause some damaging beach erosion as usual from these coastal storms. Minor tidal flooding for the morning high tide and moderate for the evening high tide and we also have heavy surf and dangerous rip currents on the water and youre being advised not to swim today. Not only by me but by the authorities down at the water as well. At the shore mostly cloudy rip currents today, 74 degrees is the high. Up in allentown mainly dry conditions. There could be that little passing shower at times but mainly dry, mainly cloudy, some sun breaks at times and a high of 80 degrees, a little warmer away from all of this. In philadelphia a high of 77, mostly cloudy, damp at times but mainly dry. And winds could gust up to about 30 miles per hour, maybe a little higher than that down the shore but again, the impact overall inland from this storm is very minimal. Clearing then with an early shower, 67 degrees in philadelphia. Down into the tropics Hurricane Maria is still a major hurricane pulling away from its landfall in dominica moving away from guadalupe and now making a beeline toward san juan puerto rico and it does look like this could get very close to puerto rico as a category five storm which is where we are now and then a four as it goes over land and probably a three as it pulls away from the bahamas and heads more or less up toward the east coast of the United States where it goes from there a lot of uncertainty but well keep our eyes on maria. Your seven day, todays high 77, a lot of clouds around, breezy, and damp at times. Tomorrow some sun. Looks like the rain is gone. The storm is moving away. Will be a little bit humid maybe a will it breezy but a high of 85 and nice for the arrival of rosh hashanah. 86 on thursday warm and humid. Autumn arrives on friday but its not going to feel like autumn as we get a high of 84 degrees and then for the weekend, i dont know if this is the last time but its sure going to feel like summer. 86 degrees is your high on sunday, 85 on saturday. Fairly sunny and warm both days. By monday we could see a late thunderstorm. So, careful down in the water at the shore but hopefully things easing back a little bit and we dont see any major damage other than beach erosion. Thank you david.
