Against disgraced media giant matt lauer, the question is how is this going to impact men and women and their relationship in the workplace. And, a bit of a misleading headline, or why was it . The governor of new jersey is requiring volunteers on his Transition Team to sign a nondisclosure agreement and whats that about . A bold new plan. A new way for you to get to work. Train, buses, new tunnels, all of it on the table. This is chasing news. As more accusations are leveled against disgraced media superstar matt lauer, he came out with his own statement admitting some of the accusations are true. Ashley johnson has the whole story. What you got . A day after nbc announced the firing of matt lauer, he issued an apology and broke the silence of allegations of sexual misconduct. He is accused of multiple women of Sexual Harassment. Three women have filed complaints with nbc. His statement starts, there are no words to express my sorrow and regret for pains i have caused others. Some of what is being said about me is untrue or mischaracterized. There is not truth in the stories to make me feel embarrassed and ashamed. I regret that my shame is shared by the people i cherish dearly. Ive had to look at my own troubling flaws. Its been humbling. People had a lot to say on how it will affect the way men and women Work Together professionally. I think it will be an awareness that wasnt there before. Ive done things in the past, nothing like what he did, but like you know putting my arm around someone, or touching the shoulder, and its affection. Theres no malcontent, but it might be upsetting to them and they wouldnt say anything. It will put more people on alert and that will awaken those who dont realize that they have crossed other peoples boundaries. It will make me feel a little more cautious. I will rethink what im going to say. The other anchors soldiered on as nbc looks for a permanent replacement. Thank you ashley. Lets bring in an expert clinical psychologist. Doctor jeffrey joins me. Its always good to see you. Things for being on. Let me ask you. Weve got a culture in america that you and i have discussed before, its pretty different than the culture in European Countries and the embracing and the kissing and all that. Weve already not been that, but does this have a chilling up effect on all workplace between men and women. Absolutely it does. I see it in my own environment, in hospital in colleges where people are really double gassing, looking back on behaviors theyve had and behaviors they demonstrate now and they do so tomorrow. They want to make sure that they are operating within the roles and really not offending anyone or violating any policies when it comes to Sexual Harassment. One of the bad things that it seems to me is that this entire conversation has been lumped into Sexual Harassment oral workplace harassment, but it seems to me what matt lauer may have been doing could rise to the level of a criminal complaint, locking the door, having sex in the off office, now youre talking about something very, very serious. Absolutely. I think whats happening is even with some of the more extreme cases, it is shining a light as to what the behaviors need to be at the workplace that keep it appropriate and key people respectful. Thank you. Its always good to get your perspective. Lets bring in our a panel to break it down for us. Im joined by a couple political strategist. Frank is here again. And Jeanette Hoffman. Jeanette lets start with you. You heard the good doctor, hes always got an interesting perspective. How does this impact men and women in the workplace . How will it impact you. So the good side of that and the bad side of it. The good side is i feel like this new generation will not have any tolerance. What we saw with matt lauer and some other people is that management basically swept this under the rug because manpower is such a big star. I dont think that will happen anymore. The downside is for younger women coming up, they may not have opportunities because men may not want to mentor them or may not have them as interns. You think men and women will have some distance. I think so. It goes back to white mike pence says and its unfortunate he wont have dinner with a woman whos not his wife because theres in it appearance of impropriety. Will this change your behavior . Do you find yourself going back over years and say how many interactions that i have, whether jokes or comments, every guy now is thinking i could be in trouble too. My next. A lot of guys probably are thinking that and the ones were thinking it are probably one to have problems. What about the single guy in the workplace who asks a coworker out. Yes, there is that gray area. But, thats the difference. The people in position of power, a lot of these women felt like they had to sleep with them for their jobs. Thats the difference. My the only one thinking this whole idea of the locked door, sex in the office, why are we not talking about a criminal investigation instead of workplace Sexual Harassment. I agree. We might be. We dont know enough about it. When the timing of it happened, but these guys are predators. You look at a guy like matt lauer who had all this power over women and they felt good about it and they were embarrassed by his behavior. He was embarrassed he got caught. Theres no room for a guy like that. Frankly, i think thats why youre seeing it in show business and politics because these men have massive egos thinking they could get away with it and for years they did. I think that will stop. In one of the most misleading political headlines that i have seen yet, and that is saying something, they met with an article today attacking phil murphy for ac operating his Transition Team in secrecy. Specifically there were pointing to the fact that the that the Transition Team required 500 volunteers to sign a nondisclosure agreement that they wouldnt talk about the meetings and all the things going on behind the scenes as the governor get set to take office in january. Whats interesting in the third paragraph, they also discussed the fact that they were not required to sign the nondisclosure agreement. Chris christie came out and said he doesnt recall doing anything like this when he was elected governor in 2009. Are they really operating in secrecy or is this just stand her procedure to make sure only a certain assigned people are talking to the press. Lets bring back our a panel to break it down. Frank, let me start with you. You remember the Transition Team. Was the governor right . Know, i was a paid staffer on governor christies Transition Team and we did a ton of work with various people. We had no nondisclosure agreement. This is just more, say one thing and do another from phil murphy. Thats how this guy operates. You got 500 volunteers, dont you think this is the first good decision hes made. No. I think its totally going against the whole public spirit of volunteering for the Transition Team. These 500 people, this is not joe smith coming in to volunteer their time. These are people appointed and working on the campaign. Theyre very active in the democratic party. My question is what is murphy hiding that hes making them sign a legal nondisclosure agreement. To think of people are going to be wrangling over issues, i talked about this morning on the radio. One guy walks out and says you not to believe this taxes are gonna go up four 100 . I want to know about it. But its not necessarily going to be the policy that results. Folks are to chat anyway. You already saw that i got leaked to the press. It just shows murphys campaign has an inability to keep up key people on message and they may be employing people they dont trust. I think taxpayers have the right to know the direction this administration is going. Weve seen this with governor elect murphy on the campaign. He doesnt want to talk to certain Media Outlets or give interviews. I think this is just more secrecy. They wont talk to me. They havent done it yet pretty think maybe that is they are afraid of criticism but i do think it is important for the new governor to take command of the message because things go awry when the public knows too much detail. I think he could find the jersey shore on a map if he tried. Thats going to cost him. I think its a record. Thats an unusual role for me. I call it like i see it. Thank you. We have a lot more chasing news coming up after the break. How about a new way to get inandout and around in manhattan. We will show you the bold new plan for your commute. And then your chili forecast coming up. Welcome back to chasing news. Dan will have your freezing forecast coming up. But first, we want to check in with allison who was at a meeting today of the Regional Planning association. They want to do some bold new plans for your commute inandout of manhattan and around the city. New rail tunnels a second bus tunnel and an end to overnight subways. Those are some of the 61 recommendations the Regional Plan Association presented wednesday in manhattan. They are nonprofit independent organization that comes up with detail lands to improve the new york, new jersey and connecticut region. Its the fourth plan theyve come up with in their 100yearold history. The rpa began creating the plan by talking to people from all over the region. The reoccurring scene was people liked living here but had serious concerns. The rpa vp of transportation, richard, discuss some of those concerns. Its been very tough for commuters. They been dealing with tremendous amount of delays caused by aging infrastructure thats not being kept up. Theres been really no real change in the quality of their commute. One solution is to add more rails and tunnels to create a unified train system. Manhattan acts as a wall meaning every route must stop there. The group also suggests adding a second bus terminal. The question is will any of todays commuters see the results of these grand plans . There is a long way to go but dont worry, there are a lot of milestones along the way. Governor christie starved the transit system, every year taking hundreds of millions of dollars out of it. Non surprisingly, its been struggling to deliver quality service. As for the proposal to end overnight subways, the rpa said that time will be used for muchneeded maintenance. To learn more about the solution, visit for plan. Org. Thanks allison. Lets bring back our a panel. To strategist, Jeanette Hoffman and frank luna. I see this video. I hear allisons report. Move Madison Square garden . That is my take away from the whole thing. Im not really sure this whole video looks like a wish list with no funding mechanism. Why would you move Madison Square garden . I think thats in a convenient location per the train and subway runs there. Where would you move it . It was really confusing. The graphics, this thing looked like an eighth grade school project. What kind of pie in the sky is a bus terminal under the center. I want to know who will pay for but it looks more like fourthgrade to me. These kids are so advanced these days they could probably do better work than an eighth grader. I say move it to move Madison Square garden garden to new jersey and make everybody play there. Have been very hard on governor christie over the past few years but one of the things i think he was wrong on that i supported him on at first was the canceling of the art tunnel but now were talking about the gateway tunnel. The idea that we need another train tunnel between new york and new jersey is a good one. Its time has come but do they make a point that where it ends up is a big issue. I give the Regional Plan Association credit because their thinking big picture. These are conversations we need to have. Our transportation infrastructure is a mess. Commuting times are held warble traffic is horrible, trains are running on time. There is no funding mechanism or practical plan to move forward. I think jeanette brings up a great point. We need to have a conversation because infrastructure will create great jobs and help alleviate trouble on the roads. Revisit the bus terminal. Move it to new jersey and then build this gateway tunnel and let the bus commuters get off the train and get into the mta immediately. That makes a whole lot of sense. We are fiscal conservatives, most of us but i think government really needs to prioritize and spend their money on this. Governor christie is headed to d. C. He will be there at the Supreme Court as the High Court Decides on whether or not new jersey can finally have legal Sports Betting. George has the full story. The push to legalize sports wedding in new jersey has been going on since 2011. Governor christie, and the state has taken it all the way to the Supreme Court. The one industry that serves to benefit the most, horseracing. It employs 13000 people, occupies an Economic Impact for the state of about 2 billion. It leads to preservation of open space and preserves land in the state of about 200,000 acres. New jerseys plan faced opposition from four major sports plus the ncaa. With the rise of fantasy sports, some of which are supported by Major League Baseball and the nfl, now they feel very confident. The public has overwhelmingly said they would like to see Sports Betting legalized so to prohibit something thats going on every day anyway in an illegal market doesnt make a lot of sense. Its now legal in four states. Delaware, or gone and nevada, new jersey hoping to be state number five. That decision from the Supreme Court is expected sometime this spring. Thanks george. Lets bring back our a panel. I hear this and i think does it really matter . Weve got legal medical marijuana and we screwed that up and rose prices and made it too hard to get. If we legalize sport betting will this be one more thing to put in Atlantic City . It might help the horseracing industry, but why not legalize it across the board and that every establishment that has a Liquor License allow for betting . I think its the states right issue and i think thats what youll hear argued in front of the Supreme Court including governor christie who is supporting it. For other states have it. New jersey voters voted for it in the referendum so i think this is something that will come. To my point, frank, even if we win this thing, we keep pouring money and ideas into Atlantic City. The only time it worked was when half the casinos failed in closed and now theyre seeing some revenue. Youve got thousands of Small Businesses that will benefit but im not sure we have the will of government to implement it the right way. I think the big picture is governor christie is taking this as far as he can. It will be a legacy move if he can get this done on his way out. Im happy to see him working hard. He still the governor for another month and a half or two months. Will anyone give him political credit if he gets us through. Some people will. A little bit. I think senator lesniak will get credit as well. Lets say this happens, would it be an incentive for either of you to rush to Atlantic City in place a bet or go to the track in freehold in place of that . Im a local so i do love Monmouth Park. I think that will really benefit and it would be great. Im not going to rush to Atlantic City myself. You got it at the mall in freehold, you could see it pop up in other places. The sports book in vegas is packed 247. Anything we could do to help Atlantic City we should be doing. Does Monmouth Park survive if it doesnt . I think it absolutely will but i think this is the boost we need. Thanks jeanette. Lets check in with dan with the weather. We saw seasonably Cool Temperatures on thursday. It was typical for the last of november. The same is true for the next few days. We have a weak cold front pushing through the area as we speak. Overnight lows in the 40s, there will be some showers and will wrap up by seven or 8 00 oclock. On friday, some sunshine breaking out. It will be a little breezy. Temperatures in the lower 50s. That is par for the course for the first day of december. This weekend, saturday will be the cloudy cooler day. There might even be a few sprinkles to deal with. More sunshine on sunday. Highs in the lower 50s and the medium to long range forecast, by the end of next week, it looks like models show a colder more active forecast. We cant give you any specifics in terms of how cold or when it might snow but its pointing that way by next weekend. On the other side of the break we will have a story about a kid who killed a classmate and hes now stay tuned. Welcome back to chasing news. Weve got all your headlines tonight including the kid in new york who killed the classmate. He is now out on bond and he wants to thank all the gay men that helped him raise the money. An earthquake shook the east coast thursday afternoon with people feeling it from new york to baltimore. The 4. 1 magnitude quake hit at 4 45 p. M. And was centered about 6 miles east and northeast of dover delaware. There were no immediate reports of injury and damage. The bronx teen accused of fatally stabbing a 15yearold classmate in september was released on 250,000 bond. He was being held in the death of matthew mccree. After the judge lowered his bail from 500,000, they thanked those who donated to his bond fund, specifically the many gay men who generously donated. He faced many years of bullying because of his sexuality and was pushed to the brink the day he killed his classmate. Governor christie, after six long years of fighting to get Sports Betting legal in new jersey will be headed to the Supreme Court to offer moral support for the lawyers who are hoping for a favorable decision by the high court to allow gambling in new jersey or at least Sports Betting. Let me tell you. It is one thing i do agree with governor on that we ought to have legal Sports Betting in new jersey but heres the challenge. It seems that even if we get a favorable rating, we are going to mess it up by putting it all in Atlantic City and all in the current racetracks that we have. If were going to have legal Sports Betting, how about every single establishment with a Liquor License that has already bonded with the state, why not allow them to take bets on any gain they want. The money is already there. Lets make it happen. Why do we really help Small Business in the garden state and let them all get a piece of the gambling action live from center city in philadelphia this is fox 29 news. Struck just before 5 00 this evening a lot of people were getting ready to home. The the earth started shaking. Magnitude 4. 1 centered outside dover delaware. Felt all across our area. Weve got Team Coverage of this developing story we begin with bruce gordon in west chester. Reporter worldwide earthquakes of this magnitude happen tens of thousands of times each year but the east coast of the United States is a pretty quiet zone for quakes at least it was till late this afternoon when Mother Nature decide to do make little noise. Delaware quake were you not major event but check out the blue squares on this map showing folks fell it as far
