Youth Farm caretaker 'ready for the next chapter of his life' before murder

A week before Richard Marshall was killed at the FOOD for Lane County Youth Farm, where he was a caretaker, he told his son he was ready for the next chapter of his life.
The 70-year-old man lived in a trailer at the farm in Springfield, a volunteer employee whose work mostly meant keeping trespassers away at night. Springfield police are investigating his death as a homicide, and his son doesn't understand why he died.
