There are seven new COVID-19 related deaths in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 1,998 and the Oregon Health Authority reported 730 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19, bringing the state total to 145,320.
The number of hospitalized patients with COVID-19 across Oregon is 261, which is five fewer than Thursday. There are 58 COVID-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, which is five fewer than Thursday.
Today, OHA reported that 15,173 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. Of this total, 11,519 doses were administered on Feb. 3 and 3,654 were administered on previous days but were entered into the vaccine registry on Feb. 3.

Vital statistics are released for 2020 as the Oregon Health Authority reports 730 more cases and seven additional deaths.
Oregon experienced more deaths than births last year for the first time, in part because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic wanes, the number of deaths should fall as well, meaning Oregon s natural increase in the population is not yet turning into a natural decrease on a sustained basis, Josh Lehner of the Oregon Office of Economic Analysis wrote on his blog Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Lehner s comment was in response to the updated monthly vital statistics births and deaths released by the Oregon Health Authority through December 2020. In the past 12 months, deaths outnumbered births by just over 200, at least in the preliminary numbers, which will change some when all the records are complete, Lehner wrote.
MEDFORD, Ore. 56-year-old Guadalupe Alvarado has successfully fought off coronavirus, but doctors say he’s at least a year away from making a full recovery.
Family and welcome balloons greeted Alvarado Wednesday morning as he returned home for the first time since last summer.
“Going through this was a really long journey, with ups and downs and not knowing what was going to come out of all this,” said Alvarado’s daughter, Claribel Salas.
Alvarado spent 7 months in Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center after testing positive for COVID-19.
He got the virus from his family, who were all asymptomatic and have since recovered.

COVID-19 cases increase week over week
COVID-19 daily cases, hospitalizations and deaths all increased in Oregon last week, the state’s weekly report shows.
The Oregon Health Authority reported 4,786 new daily cases during the week of Jan. 25-31, a 16% increase from the previous week.
Hospitalizations increased to an average of 36 per day. That’s a 14% increase from the previous week.
Deaths increased slightly, from 74 to 76.
There were 119,390 COVID-19 tests administered last week, slightly more than the previous week. The percentage of positive tests increased to 5.4%.
