Initial reports indicated there might be people inside the building, because someone at the front of the building heard banging and screaming.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and determined there was no one inside. The banging and screaming heard was someone at the back of the building trying to alert anyone who might have been inside, the fire department said.
The back half of the nail salon was extensively damaged. Smoke and water damage is throughout the business. The damage is estimated at about $255,000.
