They seized a knife while searching the man. He was taken into custody without further incident. The man is being held for court and faces charges related to assault with a weapon and breaches of court-ordered conditions not to possess knives. Early morning fire at downtown Victoria nail salon deemed suspicious

Initial reports indicated there might be people inside the building, because someone at the front of the building heard banging and screaming. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and determined there was no one inside. The banging and screaming heard was someone at the back of the building trying to alert anyone who might have been inside, the fire department said. The back half of the nail salon was extensively damaged. Smoke and water damage is throughout the business. The damage is estimated at about $255,000.
