The rush to relocate to regional Victoria has prompted the Victorian opposition to release a proposal to fast-track planning approvals to deliver 50,000 new lots of land.
Nationals leader Peter Walsh revealed the policy at the party’s state conference, telling the audience regional Victoria faces missing out on population increases because of a lack of supply and red tape.
Mr Walsh said increased demand had led to rising prices and short supply in places like Shepparton.
Developers and estate agents in Shepparton have expressed concerns over recent months that the region is facing a short-term land supply problem but Greater Shepparton City Council is adamant there is adequate residential zoned land available to be opened up.
