He is geared up for the Nagarjunasagar bypoll on April 14 and promised setting up a turmeric board in Nizamabad, a longstanding demand of the farmers there. The place produces the best quality turmeric and the farmers feel a board on the lines of tea and coffee boards will help them get better price for their produce. But the flavour faded from Aravind’s curry when his party’s senior leader and Union minister of state for agriculture, Parshotham Rupala, sent a shock from Delhi. He said in the Lok Sabha that the Centre has no proposal for such a board.

Hyderabad: The sanitation workers of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) still lift domestic waste with their bare hands. This continues even during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are around 24000 sanitation workers in the city. Currently, over 3000 people are under home quarantine after their positive diagnosis. Reports suggest that garbage bins that can be lifted using a jib attached to the tipper and do not need any manual intervention was located at street corners. However, the contractors who are now responsible for transferring garbage haven t begun work as of now which is why the sanitation workers have been forced to pick up garbage using their bare hands.

Hyderabad: The unprecedented rains that resulted in the October 2020 floods in Hyderabad wreaked havoc in many ways as we were ill-equipped for such a calamity.
To prevent such incidents from repeating in the future, the Telangana Government on Wednesday (April 7th) sanctioned an amount of Rs 858 crores to Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) for developing and maintaining stormwater drainage and Nala system in the city.
The municipalities around Hyderabad will see the construction of a new drainage system at the cost of Rs 3,500 crores. The Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao announced this week that a comprehensive drainage network would be constructed in the municipalities around Hyderabad.
Telangana records 2,055 COVID-19 cases, highest in six months

Hyderabad: Telangana on Wednesday registered 2,055 COVID-19 cases, the highest since October last year. Pushing the aggregate to over 3.18 lakh, while the toll rose to 1,741 with seven more fatalities.
Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) accounted for the most number of cases with 398, followed by Medchal Malkajgiri 214 and Rangareddy 174, a government bulletin said on Thursday providing details as of 8 pm on April 7.
The total number of cases stood at 3,18,704 while with 303 patients being cured, the total recoveries were at 3,03,601.
The state has 13,362 active cases and 87,332 samples were tested on Wednesday.

Hyderabad: Telangana’s information technology (IT) and industry minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday directed officials to expand the Telangana Fiber Grid (T-Fiber) project to all municipalities across the state. KTR directed them to also conduct a survey in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and submit a report at the earliest, in order to extend fiber connectivity to 30,000 government offices from June.
