NEW DELHI: The first-ever District Development Council (DDC) elections in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir have sprung several surprises. Except for a couple of outcomes which were on expected lines, the others have been unprecedented.
The fact that the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD or popularly known as Gupkar Alliance) emerged victorious on majority of the seats in the Kashmir Valley while the BJP performed well in the Jammu region was very much expected.
