Telangana: Night curfew imposed till April 31, HC issued ultimatum

New Delhi: Coronavirus infection is not going to stop. Meanwhile, the Telangana government has announced the imposition of a night curfew on Tuesday. The curfew will continue from 9 pm to 5 am. The order has been issued by state government chief secretary Somesh Kumar. He has said the night curfew will come into effect from the night of April 20 and will continue till April 30. Earlier, the High Court had given a two-day ultimatum to the Telangana government to decide whether to impose lockdown in the state. The high court had said, within 48 hours, the government will have to decide on lockdown or curfew, issue court orders to others . The court issued several more directions and sought a full report from the Telangana government on the situation in the state.

Apr 20, 2021, 17:01 IST Hyderabad: For the second consecutive day, Hyderabad reported a daily average of  700 Coronavirus cases. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, according to the health department, recorded 705 cases on Sunday, down from 743 on Saturday. The Hyderabad district, which forms a major chunk of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area, reported more than 700 new Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day. The state health department authorities said that the Telangana state had 4,009 new Coronavirus cases on Sunday, down from 5,093 on Saturday. The total tests on Sunday fell steeply to 83,089 from 1,29,637 the previous day. However, the fall in numbers has little to do with the reduction in infections but more to do with the fewer tests the Telangana state has conducted so far.
