GUWAHATI: A day after Amit Shah said only the BJP can keep Assam free of infiltrators, the All India United Democratic Front took a dig at the saffron party, asking why it has brought the Citizenship Amendment Act that grants citizenship to “foreigners”.
AIUDF general secretary Champak Kalita, in a statement, said, “Only BJP can save Assam! What a laughable comment! The person and the party which introduced the contentious citizenship law in the parliament which rolls out the red carpet to welcome Bangladesh Hindus, one of the communities which will benefit from the CAA, now saying it will save from illegal foreigners. Isn t it double standard?”
