Midwin Charles (pictured) was a Haitian-American defense attorney. She was prominent as a television personality, being the legal analyst for American television channels CNN and MSNBC. She also commented on Bloomberg TV, HLN, and TV One, and her topics included such other broad subjects as pop culture and politics.
Charles was born in Brooklyn, New York, where she was also raised. She was a graduate of Syracuse University where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She moved on to earn a Juris Doctor degree at the American University Washington College of Law.
Charles was the founder of the Midwin Charles & Associates LLC law firm. She died at the age of 47 on April 6, 2021. Her family posted the following statement via Twitter on the day of her death:

Midwin Charles has reportedly passed away at 47 years old. The Charles family shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday evening.
“It is with a profoundly heavy heart and the deepest sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved Midwin Charles,” the family tweeted.
For many years, Charles appeared in print and television as a legal analyst providing analysis for some of the nation s most pressing legal cases. She also worked as a contributor for Essence Magazine. Not to mention, she appeared on CNN, MSNBC, HLN and Bloomberg TV.
Beyond her time on television, Charles was a hardworking defense attorney at her own law firm, Midwin Charles & Associates. She earned a law degree at American University s Washington College of Law and worked as a law clerk for Judge
