NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Thursday increased the minimum and maximum airfares by 10-30 per cent. These new limits would remain in force up to March 31, 2021, or until further orders are sent out, according to a notification issued by the ministry on Thursday.
The central government, while announcing the resumption of scheduled domestic flights on May 21 last year, had placed limits on airfares through seven bands classified on the basis of flight duration. These fare restrictions for flights were implemented to make certain that dynamic pricing does not hurt the consumer.

In the wake of the pandemic, scheduled domestic operations were suspended from March 25, 2020, and resumed in a calibrated manner from May 25, 2020. Currently, the operations have been opened up to 80 per cent of the summer schedule 2020. Further, opening up of the domestic scheduled operations is subject to prevailing COVID-19 situation, status of operations and passenger demand for air travel, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri said in a written reply.

New Delhi, Jan 25 : India has till date operationalised 311 air routes under the regional connectivity scheme Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik or RCS-UDAN.
Besides, a new route between Nashik (Maharashtra) and Belgaum (Karnataka) under the RCS-UDAN was announced by the Ministry of Civil Aviation on Monday. Operationalising of this route expands the aerial connectivity of Belgaum to 10 destinations across India. The Belgaum airport has emerged as the third busiest airport in terms of traffic in the state, after Bengaluru and Mangaluru, the Ministry said in a statement.
