Vancouver hospital identifies woman shot and killed in lobby

Liliya Zagariya was working as a concierge at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center on Tuesday when, around 1 p.m., someone fired shots inside the clinic’s lobby. Officers arrived at the scene and found Zagariya with injuries. PeaceHealth first confirmed details of the shooting to KATU News.
Vancouver police have said they don’t believe the shooter and Zagariya knew each other.
PeaceHealth went into lockdown, which was lifted about an hour and a half after the shooting.
PeaceHealth also told the news organization that the alleged shooter, a man whom authorities have not yet identified, then fatally shot himself.

Liliya Zagariya, a 20-year-old volunteer emergency medical technician with dreams of becoming a paramedic, was working at a Vancouver medical office Tuesday afternoon when a man walked in, shot her in the chest and then turned the weapon on himself.
Zagariya, of Vancouver, was known as âLilyâ by Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue firefighters, died of her wounds, as did the man, identified by the Clark County Medical Examinerâs Office as Douglas Moore, 58, of Vancouver.
Her death was ruled a homicide and his a suicide.
The attack appears to have been random.
âAt this time, there is no information that the two were known to one another,â the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement Wednesday. âThe incident appears random in nature.â

A man on Tuesday entered a Vancouver medical clinic, shot and killed a woman working at the front desk, then killed himself, Vancouver police said Wednesday afternoon.
Nothing indicates the man knew the woman, police said.
“The incident appears random in nature,” police said.
Officers responded about 1 p.m. to reports of a shooting in the 500 block of Northeast 87th Avenue at a medical facility across from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, officials said.
The building where the shooting occurred which offers PeaceHealth Services including dentistry, vision and family medicine and the hospital itself were put on lockdown while police investigated.
