A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has taken a swipe at the President over the recent abduction of hundreds of students from the Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State.
She believes there is a problem President Muhammadu Buhari needs to address, saying the countries around the world think Nigeria is a joke.
“He (Buhari) needs to tell us exactly what happened with the Kankara kids; there is a problem here,” Ezekwesili said during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday.
She added, “This country should not be taken for a ride by President Buhari and his government; This is very unbecoming and the whole world is laughing at us. They think we are jokers.

The activist believes the establishment of a special security unit for schools in the North will go a long way in ensuring the security of students and their teachers.
He also suggested that perimeter walls should be built around the schools, and the installation of CCTV cameras and alarm systems should be encouraged.
In other tweets, Senator Sani noted the release of the schoolboys abducted in Katsina – after spending about one week in captivity.
He, however, faulted those he said were taking credit for the success when nobody has taken responsibility for the failure in Zabarmari in Borno State where over 40 farmers were massacred by Boko Haram insurgents.

President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed to the rescued students of Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State, to return to school.
He urged them to remain focused on pursuing their interest in acquiring a good education, despite the misfortune of kidnapping, noting that the reward of knowledge was not negotiable.
The President gave the words of encouragement on Friday when he met with the 344 students at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Katsina State.
