OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting 106 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday, while a key COVID-19 indicator dropped to its lowest level since early April. Two Ottawa residents have died due to COVID-19 related illnesses. Since the first case of COVID-19 on March 11, 2020, there have been 24,998 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, including 519 deaths. The 106 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday follows 141 new cases on Wednesday and 94 cases on Tuesday. Ottawa s weekly COVID-19 incidence rate fell Thursday to 98.1 cases per 100,000. It s the first time the weekly incidence rate has been below 100 cases per 100,000 people since April 2, when it was 97.2 cases per 100,000 people.
OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health says 141 more people in Ottawa have tested positive for COVID-19 and two more people have died. It comes one day after Ottawa Public Health reported its lowest case count in six weeks, with 94 new cases on Tuesday. OPH also reported five deaths on Tuesday. The city has seen a total of 24,892 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 since March 11, 2020 and 517 residents of Ottawa have died from COVID-19. Across Ontario, public health officials reported 2,941 new cases of COVID-19, marking the second straight day of fewer than 3,000 province-wide cases; however, the province also reported 44 new deaths on Wednesday, a 76 per cent increase compared to the day before.

Ontario is stepping up delivery of COVID-19 vaccines with more deliveries from Ottawa this week and aims to have two thirds of the province’s residents receiving at least one jab by the end of May.
Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health, said in a briefing with reporters Wednesday that the province is expanding its vaccination plan to include more mobile vaccine units and offering residents older than 50 vaccinations through its provincial booking system later this week.
