Bahrain Duty Free had around 1,800sq m at its disposal in the previous passenger terminal at Bahrain International Airport.
Bahrain Duty Free has praised everyone involved with the new Bahrain International Airport passenger terminal project, which culminates tomorrow
(28 January 2021) with the grand opening of the new building.
The passenger terminal building is four-times the size of the previous building, with an increased capacity of 14 million passengers annually.
Bahrain Duty Free will runÂ
core duty free and speciality retail concessions over a combined footprint of around 4,700sq m. Previously, the retailer had around 1,800sq m at its disposal.

The Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) new passenger terminal will begin operations today, in line with the directive of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications and Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) announced that all the airport’s facilities are ready, and preparations to welcome passengers are complete.
The transfer to the new facility marks the dawn of a new era for the Kingdom of Bahrain’s aviation sector.
Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and BAC Chairman, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, noted that the transfer marks a major step for the Kingdom under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
