FEB. 11, 2021 NAMI Ask the Expert — Help, Not Handcuffs Part 1: The Definition of Insanity Documentary & Panel Discussion February 25, 2021, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. ET This first webinar of the series will feature a showing of the 2020 PBS documentary The Definition of Insanity, which tells the story of the Miami-Dade Criminal Mental Health Project (CMHP), a team of dedicated public servants working through the courts to redirect people living with mental illness from incarceration to recovery. Following the showing, NAMI’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ken Duckworth will lead a guided discussion and Q&A with our panel of experts, many of whom are featured in the documentary. Panelists from a variety of specialties will share insights, information and resources on their community’s response to our nation’s mental health crisis.

Missing Peace Wellbeing + Support will be available on Zoom between 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Nick Smith, founder of Missing Peace, said: “Mental health doesn’t stop for Christmas – in fact for many people, it can be worse. We will be running our usual Friday peer support group on Christmas Day on Zoom. Everyone is welcome!”. Missing Peace provides mental health and wellbeing support. It stages weekly peer support groups and one-to-one sessions. Also, it runs Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) Seminar I courses and Seminar II training, Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Core Principle training and peer supervision sessions – as well as offering Reiki treatments and courses, meditation and essential oils.

Half million euro in funding for 8 community and social enterprises across Galway

Galway Bay FM 12 December 2020 print Galway Bay FM Newsroom – Half a million euro in funding has been announced for eight community and social enterprises across Galway. This is the second round of funding released by Rethink Ireland under the Innovate Together Fund, which was launched in response to Covid-19. €1.3m has been announced in Rethink Ireland’s latest round of funding – almost half a million of which will go to social and community enterprises across Galway. The largest allocation of €200 thousand will go towards the ‘Schooling at Home – Bridging Worlds’ project at NUI Galway. A further €68 thousand has been allocated to the Wellness Recovery Action Plan located at the Student Health Unit at the university.
