THUNDER BAY - More people across the province will be able to book a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine sooner, while the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is looking to reach more people with pop-up clinics.
The provincial government announced on Friday that individuals over the age of 70, as well as those who received their first dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine on or before April 18, 2021, can book an earlier second dose starting Monday, June 7 through the provincial online booking system.
Individuals in the above noted groups who received a first dose through a pharmacy or primary care provider can book an accelerated second dose as of Friday.

The Lakehead Public School Board and Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board were both advocating for students to return to the classroom before the end of the academic year.
Lakehead University continues discussions about returning to in-person learning in the fall.
President Vice-Chancellor Dr. Moira McPherson maintains the conversations do include the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
“Our students, faculty and students are all planning for delivery of programming and services that will be primarily face to face,” McPherson said. “At the end of the day, we will do everything we need to do to maintain a safe environment for our students and faculty.”
McPherson also confirmed ongoing work by the school’s international branch to welcome out of country students back.
“They continue to work tirelessly with the authorities, and with all the most up to date information that we can secure so we can effectively to plan for our international students,” McPherson added.
