Subscriber only AN Ipswich man charged with serious arson and robbery offences has been refused bail because of the concerning circumstances of the criminal allegations. Appearing from the police watchhouse via video-link before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday, Joshua Bingham was solemn faced when a legal aid lawyer sought his bail. Joshua Ryan Bingham, 27, from Basin Pocket, faces charges of committing robbery with violence at Moorooka on December 1, 2020; and arson of a Toyota Echo sedan in Parkinson on December 2, 2020. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O Shea said police opposed bail due to the serious nature of the offences. Magistrate David Shepherd read the written outline of the alleged offences, saying the car owner had been waiting to pick up his daughter when a man is alleged to have approached him, saying he was going to take his car.

Subscriber only A DISQUALIFIED driver who was busted by police when out shopping at a supermarket said it was his mother who drove his car there. But his mum was apparently not found with him and Wade Ashurst held the keys to his car parked outside, an Ipswich court heard. Wade Matthew Ashurst, 30, from Willowbank, went before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to driving a motor vehicle when disqualified by court order at Yamanto on September 11 last year. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O Shea said police officers did a registration check on the car parked outside Woolworths Yamanto at 10.40am and noted that Ashurst, its registered owner, was disqualified from driving by a court order for a previous offence.

A WOMAN was caught breaching a licence disqualification after telling police she had driven to a suburban area to look for stolen property.
Appearing at Ipswich Magistrates Court on Thursday, Anita Joy Harrold, 41, from Goodna pleaded guilty to driving when disqualified at Ripley on June 9, 2020.
Prosecutor Senior Constable Bridie O’Shea said a Yamanto police patrol came across Harrold in a Ripley street at 10.15pm.
Harrold gave her name, saying she had driven there from her home in Goodna in the belief stolen property may be at the address.
“She said she was aware of being disqualified but had no one else to drive her,” Snr Const. O’Shea said.

A MAN was more than double the legal alcohol limit when he crashed into a pole, snapping it in half and badly damaging his Holden Commodore in the process.
Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday heard Jarod Douglas Hourigan, 20, was yet to receive the damage bill.
Hourigan pleaded guilty to drink driving at Redbank Plains on December 28 last year; and driving without due care and attention.
In police facts put forward by Prosecutor Sergeant Rose Molinaro, officers were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash at Redbank Plains at 11pm on December 28.
A pole was found snapped in half and lying across the road in Juillerat Drive.
