Daily Times May 9, 2021 The coalition government of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is facing fiscal disaster as evident from Summary of Consolidated Federal and Provincial Fiscal Operations, 2020-21, released on May 6, 2021 by the Ministry of Finance, for the first nine months of the current fiscal year. It shows that 37 percent of defence spending is now funded by borrowing. This is a very serious matter but remains unnoticed. It has national security repercussions if remedial measures are not taken. The total debt and liabilities reached 94 percent of GDP. May 9, 2021 ISLAMABAD: In a surprise development and as a success of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s visit, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has committed to provide $500 million (75.50 billion) to Pakistan from the Saudi Development Fund for development of infrastructure, water resources and hydropower projects in Pakistan. Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced this in Jeddah on Saturday. Qureshi said the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman while accepting Khan’s invitation was expected to visit Pakistan after the Eid. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan sign agreement to establish Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council

JEDDAH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan have signed an agreement to establish the Saudi-Pakistani Supreme Coordination Council. Ahead of the visit, Pakistan’s Cabinet on Tuesday approved the establishment of the council – a body created for streamlining bilateral cooperation between the two countries – to ‘remove hurdles’ to investment deals signed during the crown prince’s visit to Pakistan in February 2019.
