The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister said his Ministry, which has been tasked with planning and co-ordinating the retail sector vaccination programme with all the related industry players, would implement it with the co-operation of the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF). Considering the Covid-19 situation in the country, there is a need to speed up giving the vaccines to the economic frontliners, especially workers in the retail sector, to achieve herd immunity in the country, he said in a statement Friday (May 28). According to Nanta, a meeting with CITF, associations and retail industry players was held on Friday, involving some 60 retail sector industry players.

PUTRAJAYA: Random enforcement checks will be conducted at popular retail outlets to ensure shoppers abide by the two-hour shopping limit, says Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi. However, he said the onus was on the public to exercise self-control and keep track of their shopping time. “With about 2,200 enforcement officers nationwide, we will conduct random checks at places that are popular. “Abide by the two-hour limit. This cooperation is important for us in our battle against Covid-19, ” he said at a virtual press conference yesterday when announcing the price control scheme for this year’s Pesta Kaamatan and Hari Gawai festive period.
