The Enhanced Nutribun (e-nutribun) technology of the Department of Science and Technology-Food and Nutrition Research Institute (DOST-FNRI) was adopted by a firm in Palawan known for offering healthy food options in the province.

Palawan Adventist Health Products becomes the newest adopter of the e-nutribun technology as announced by DOST-MIMAROPA in a statement on Wednesday, May 12.
After a virtual site visit at the facility, DOST-FNRI been found that the firm was an eligible adopter of the technology. This led to its inclusion in the roster of the Batch 7 of the Enhanced Nutribun adopters.

DOST Secretary Fortunato “Boy” T. de la Peña said it took a year for the FNRI to complete its studies on GABA and eventually got approval for its six utility model applications.
These include Orange Sweet Potato Powder Rich in GABA; Process for Producing Orange Sweet Potato Powder Rich in GABA, Green Tomato Powder Rich in GABA, Process for Producing Green Tomato Powder Rich in GABA, Green Tomato Powder Rich in GABA, Process for Producing Green Tomato Powder Rich in GABA.
“Studies have shown that GABA lowers hypertension, induces relaxation, promotes good sleep, has calming effect, diminishes anxiety, delays and/or inhibits cancer cell proliferation, and improves long term memory,” de la Peña said in his Facebook post.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) is bracing for the completion of two ongoing studies on the VCO by June this year.
The first project seeks to look into VCO as an adjunctive therapy for hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Dr. Marissa M. Alejandria of the University of the Philippines-Manila National Institutes of Health (UP-NIH) is leading the team.
May 07, 2021 A TOTAL of 266 sacks of 24-kg and one sack of 16-kg iron-fortified rice arrived at the Cebu City Nutrition Office on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, as the food commodity for the 30-day dietary supplementation of 1,600 pregnant women in Cebu City.
The National Nutrition Council bought and delivered the rice as part of its Tutok Kainan Supplementation Program (TKSP), one of the measures under the National Dietary Supplementation Program of the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition 2017-2022.
“One of the objectives of TKSP is to prevent stunting in children by giving nutritious food commodities to nutritionally at-risk pregnant women and children six to 23 months old,” said Dr. Parolita Mission, NNC 7 regional nutrition program coordinator.
