NEW DELHI: While the year 2019 would be remembered for the victory of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections, 2020 would be recalled as the year when the BJP made handsome gains in the polls held for local bodies across the country. Moreover, while the BJP also won the Bihar assembly elections, Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) decisively won the Delhi state polls for the second consecutive term.
The year would also be remembered for the elections which were held during COVID-19 times. The Delhi assembly elections were held in February, when the pandemic had not yet become a threat. By the time the Bihar polls were held in October-November, the coronavirus disease had started receding after reaching its crescendo.

Guwahati: The 5th round report of the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) 2019-20 gives valuable information on matters like health, population, and nutrition for the various States and Union Territories in India.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India appointed International Institute of Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai as the nodal agency to survey.
In this 5th round, themes like preschool education, disability, access to a toilet facility and death registration, were added. The prime objective of the NFHS series has been to furnish high-quality data on health and family welfare and pertinent issues in this domain.

Guwahati/Agartala, Dec 30 : While the ruling BJP appears to be much ahead in its campaign to retain the power in Assam, the main opposition Congress is facing drawbacks in its efforts to form Bihar like Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in order to make a comeback.
The Congress recently suffered a major setback after the death of three-time former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi last month and the recent exit of the two senior Congress leaders also sitting MLAs former Assam PWD Minister Ajanta Neog and dynamic young leader Rajdeep Gowala.
NEW DELHI: The BJP may be winning the assembly and local bodies elections and even the bypolls held in several states spread across the country in the recent months but it has also been losing its allies or may be failing to keep them in good humour.
The latest ally to show signs of disenchantment with the BJP is the AIADMK, the party ruling in Tamil Nadu.
AIADMK launched its campaign on Sunday for the assembly election to be held around April-May next year. In his speech, party Rajya Sabha MP and deputy coordinator KP Munusamy gave a short shrift to the BJP when he said AIADMK will not share power with any national party if it wins the election.
