LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Sulphur High School student has been arrested following a shooting threat, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffâs Department.
Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent says the schoolâs resource officers were notified of a possible threat from a student at the school around 2:30 p.m. on Mar. 4, 2021.
During their investigation, detectives say they learned a 17-year-old boy had threatened to shoot up the school. The student was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center for terrorizing.
Sulphur Student Arrested for Threatening To Shoot up School
It s unclear if authorities are still investigating, but a 17-year-old Sulphur High School student was arrested yesterday, March 4. Authorities received an emergency call for threats being made at the school. A motive or the circumstances leading up to the threat of violence are unknown at this time. The school s resource officers were on campus at the time of the incident.
According to KPLC, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent reported school officers placed a call to the Sheriff s office around 2:30pm. Vincent said the suspect was a male student, and he is accused of threatening to shoot up the school. Shortly after arriving on the scene, deputies arrested the young man. He was booked and charged with terrorizing, then transported to Calcasieu Parish Juvenile Detention Center.

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A Calcasieu Sheriffâs Deputy has been terminated and arrested after being accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a prisoner while on-duty, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriffâs Office.
Spokeswoman Kayla Vincent says the Sheriffâs Office received a complaint regarding the incident on August 26, 2020. Deputy Amber Kelly, 31, was interviewed by detectives and later that day terminated by Sheriff Mancuso.
The investigation was conducted by detectives and turned over to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorneyâs Office where the charges were accepted on Mar. 3, 2021. A warrant was then issued for her arrest for malfeasance in office.
