Guwahati/Agartala, Dec 30 : While the ruling BJP appears to be much ahead in its campaign to retain the power in Assam, the main opposition Congress is facing drawbacks in its efforts to form Bihar like Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in order to make a comeback.
The Congress recently suffered a major setback after the death of three-time former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi last month and the recent exit of the two senior Congress leaders also sitting MLAs former Assam PWD Minister Ajanta Neog and dynamic young leader Rajdeep Gowala.

Abhayapuri: Demanding the repeal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and release of Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi a human chain protest was launched by the district committee of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS) at Abhayapuri in Bongaigaon on Thursday.
The district committee of the organization took to the road in front of Abhayapuri College and staged the protest chanting slogans like BJP Murdabad , we don t accept CAA , Release Akhil Gogoi , etc.

GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students’ Union (Aasu) strongly condemned Amit Shah’s decision to frame rules to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) soon after Covid vaccination begins.
The leading students’ body, which has been heading the anti-CAA movement since December last year, will soon announce its protest schedule against the citizenship law that could continue till the assembly polls.
Aasu general secretary Sankar Jyoti Baruah on Monday said Aasu will lend full support to the new regional party Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP), as an alternative to BJP in the 2021 Assam elections, to resist the CAA implementation move.
